1.3.1-alpha.2
Hotfix: Games with future releasedates
CompletionLab added 17 more verified Xbox games that were being held back by stale Microsoft Store release dates.
This is how I would’ve put it:
After the big catalog expansion in 1.3.1-alpha.1, I found a group of games that CompletionLab was still treating as unreleased because Microsoft had given them placeholder release dates like 9998-12-30 or 2799-01-01. Which was probably my fault for adjusting how games are rated for Rarity V3 :)
So I audited all 269 titles that CompletionLab was currently holding as unreleased.
Most of them were actually being handled correctly. Some had real future release dates, some were genuinely TBA, and quite a few were things like artbooks, soundtracks, bonus content, or alternate Store listings that shouldn’t become achievement games at all.
But 17 were real released games with their own live Xbox achievement stacks.
The obvious solution might seem like “just ask Xbox about every title with a bad date,” but that turned out to be unsafe too. A bunch of unreleased games already have achievement lists on Xbox, and some even have test unlocks before launch.
So this update adds a small reviewed release system instead.
CompletionLab still keeps Microsoft’s original Store data untouched. If that data is wrong, I can review the exact Store product and Xbox title ID and mark the title as known to be released.
That review does not add the game.
It only lets CompletionLab ask Xbox to verify it.
Xbox still has to return the achievement roster, Microsoft still has to provide the Base Game group, and the full list still has to pass the same verification rules as every other automatically discovered game.
All 17 reviewed titles passed.
This update adds 17 games and 758 achievements, including:
Aniimo, Valheim, Street Fighter 6, NINJA GAIDEN 4, MotoGP 15, Surviving the Aftermath, Trine 3, MySims, Afro Samurai 2, eFootball PES 2021 Season Update, and several legitimate regional achievement stacks for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, L.A. Noire, Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, Candleman, and Mr. Pumpkin Adventure.
Those regional versions stay separate because they have their own Xbox title IDs and their own achievement lists. CompletionLab never merges games just because their names look the same.
The catalog is now at:
12,486 games.
366,390 achievements.
And more importantly, we now have a safe way to correct bad Store release metadata without weakening the rules that decide whether an Xbox achievement game is real.
