▶Before You Start
1000xRESIST has 32 achievements worth 1,000 Gamerscore on Xbox. It is one shared Xbox Play Anywhere list for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC. There is no DLC and no title-update achievements.
- Online: none. Everything is single-player and offline.
- Difficulty: there are no difficulty settings, no combat skill checks, and nothing you can fail. The completion is about thoroughness.
- Playthroughs: one. The ending scene lets you see five of the seven endings in a loop. The second credits ending only needs a reload of a save made just before the final choice.
- Unobtainable achievements: none. As of October 2026, no achievement is flagged as unobtainable or broken on Xbox.
▶What You Can Miss
Thirteen achievements unlock from story progress alone. The rest are missable within a run:
- Seven talk-to-everyone achievements. Each one covers a free-roam window in Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 (twice), and 9. Each window closes when you start a specific story conversation, which is listed in the section for that chapter. Most characters can only be spoken to once. The achievement unlocks as you start the conversation with the last character you still needed.
- Five Orchard landmarks. These can be found from Chapter 2 onward. Do all five in Chapter 2 so you don't have to worry about them later.
- Seven endings. These all come from a single scene at the very end of the game. No earlier choice affects which endings are available.
Chapter select on the main menu can take you back for missed conversations, but treat it as a backup only. It may not let you start partway through a chapter, so missing something late in a chapter can mean replaying the whole chapter. The safe approach is to clear every window the first time and make a manual save before each closing conversation.
▶How the Compass Works
Use the compass to show waypoints for conversations you haven't had yet. Secretary also gives an audio cue when you are near someone you can talk to. In the Orchard, you can open a map with X during the parts of the game that have one. The waypoint on the monument under the waterfall never clears, so ignore it when you're looking for people you've missed.
The compass is reliable in the Orchard. It is less complete elsewhere. In the Chapter 1 school, characters only appear in the time period they exist in. In Chapter 9, some recordings aren't marked until you are standing in front of them. Each of those chapters has notes below on what people tend to miss.
▶Saving
The game autosaves at checkpoints, and you can also make manual saves. Autosaves can land later than you'd expect, so make a manual save in a separate slot at every point this guide tells you to. Those saves are your protection against missing a conversation or getting stuck.
▶The Story
▶Chapter [Redacted]
The prologue has nothing missable. Play it through.
▶I want you to see from the beginning
Unlocks automatically when you finish Chapter [Redacted].
▶Chapter 1
Chapter 1 has the largest talk-to-everyone window in the game. The checklist below lists 59 people: 15 in the present (00) and 44 in the past (-02). Each line shows its count in brackets. Other guides give different totals, but this checklist covers every person you need to talk to.
▶Saying your goodbyes
Window opens: a few conversations in the present (period 00) are available right away. Most of the cast only becomes available once you can time travel. You unlock time travel by visiting the Gymnasium door, then the Rooftop, then interacting with Jiao's picture on the Rooftop. After that, you can switch between 00 and the past (-02).
Window closes: when you start the third conversation with Jiao. After that, the school is no longer available. If you haven't finished, you will have to load an earlier save. Make a manual save before the third Jiao conversation.
You don't need to talk to any of the Jiaos (Cafeteria, Detention, and Music Room), so leave them until the achievement unlocks. Talk to Johnson as soon as you find him in the stairwell up to the Roof. That's a cheap precaution, because his conversation has been reported as missable if you leave it too long. In 00, every "???" is an unnamed member of The 50, and each one counts. Where a name repeats in one room, talk to every copy.
Period 00 (15):
- Floor 1 West (2): ??? in the toilets, ??? in the main corridor.
- Floor 1 Cafeteria (2): ???, Pigeon Prime.
- Floor 1 Yard (1): ??? outside the Gymnasium.
- Floor 1 East (3): ??? in the Art Room, ??? in the Science Room, ??? in the main corridor.
- Floor 2 West (2): ??? in the Student Council Room, ??? in the corridor by the North Stairwell.
- Floor 2 Central (1): ??? in the connecting corridor.
- Floor 2 East (3): ??? in the Music Room, ??? in the main corridor, ??? in Media Class.
- Roof stairwell (1): Johnson.
Period -02 (44):
- Floor 1 Library (5): Dogged Student, Librarian, two Readers, Wistful Student.
- Floor 1 West toilets (1): Smoking Student.
- Outside the Cafeteria (2): Slacker Student and Lazy Student (talk to both).
- Floor 1 Cafeteria (3): Student, Pigeon Student, Business Student.
- Floor 1 Art Storage Room (2): Hussein, VeeVee.
- Floor 1 Art Room (4): Art Teacher, Law Student, Artist, Subject.
- Floor 1 Science Room (2): Science Student, Gross Student.
- Floor 1 East corridor (1): Keen Student.
- Floor 2 Student Council Room (7): Speaker, Historian, Scribe, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, President, Vice President. You reach some of them by swapping to 00 and back inside the room.
- Floor 2 West corridor (1): the Teacher outside Detention.
- Floor 2 Detention (2): Trapped Student, Blissful Student.
- Floor 2 East (2): Music Student outside the Music Room, Older Sister in the toilets.
- Floor 2 Infirmary (4): two Nurses, Sick Student, Worried Student.
- Floor 2 Media Class (2): Actor, Director. Enter in -02, then swap back to 00 for the ??? there.
- Roof (6): three Followers, Angsty Student, the Teacher blocking the door, Journalist.
If the achievement still hasn't unlocked, work through the checklist room by room in each period before you start the third Jiao conversation.
▶Her name was Iris
Unlocks automatically when you finish Chapter 1.
▶Chapter 2
This is your first time free-roaming the Orchard, and it is the best time to do all five landmarks along with the conversations. Open the map with X to find your way around.
▶Perform your function, Watcher
Window opens: as soon as you have control in the Orchard.
Window closes: when you start the communion with Bang Bang Fire. When she offers you the choice, decline it until the achievement has unlocked. You don't need to talk to her for the achievement.
There are roughly 22 to 24 characters. The Orchard compass marks everyone you haven't spoken to. Commonly missed:
- Principal. You have to talk to her again after the opening scene.
- Healer. Talk to Healer even though they say they aren't ready to talk yet.
- The characters in the Library.
- Conspiracy Shell on the catwalk.
- The group in the glass box: Director, Lead Actor, Supporting Actor, and Understudy.
- Eager Shell in the outer halls.
▶Orchard Landmarks
Do these in Chapter 2, before you start Bang Bang Fire's communion. They remain available in later Orchard visits, including Chapter 3. The directions below start from the waterfall on Level 1, near the Library. Each achievement unlocks as you enter or reach the landmark.
▶Do some self-reflection
Take the "D" stairs next to the waterfall and turn left. The mirror shrine is at the end of that underground tunnel.
▶How does it make you feel?
Take the same "D" stairs, turn right, and follow the "Horse Lobby" signs through the tunnels to the horse statue.
▶I think it's a fox
Cross the glass walkway toward the Shrine Courtyard, then take the first right through the white arch. The skull shrine is marked "The Shrine" on the map.
▶A prayer room
Cross the glass walkway toward the Shrine Courtyard. Go straight past the white arch into the courtyard, then turn right and climb the wooden spiral stairs. Take the grey stairs on the left instead of crossing the bridge. The pillar room is at the top, among the rooms off the catwalk above the garden.
▶In the ground
Leave the waterfall area and turn right at the sign marked "1". Don't go upstairs. Go past sign "C", the ALLMOTHER heads, and the alcove. At the spine statue, turn left through the "Grove" doorway, then turn left again and ride the escalators up. Green Heaven is labeled "Scary" on the map.
▶I've been thinking about family
Once all five landmarks and the conversations are done, start Bang Bang Fire's communion. This unlocks automatically when you finish Chapter 2.
▶Chapter 3
▶Happy Birthday!
Window opens: as soon as you're free in the Orchard, after the scene in Principal's office.
Window closes: when you start Healer's communion. Healer lets you delay it, so keep delaying until the achievement has unlocked. You don't need to talk to Healer for the achievement.
There are roughly 27 characters, and many are in new places. The compass marks everyone you haven't spoken to. Knower is at the skull shrine, and Trying Shell is in the garden. Principal doesn't have a new conversation this chapter.
If you missed any landmarks in Chapter 2, find them now before starting Healer's communion.
▶We were all the new kid once
Unlocks automatically when you finish Chapter 3.
▶Chapter 4
▶You're a Big Sister, now
Window opens: as soon as you have control in the Orchard at night.
Window closes: when you talk to Helpful Shell (Fixer in Shell) in the Shell Bar. Secretary warns you about a point of no return at the Shell entrances, but that isn't the real cutoff. You can enter the Bar, talk to the other people there, and leave freely. Just don't talk to Helpful Shell until the achievement has unlocked.
There are roughly 19 characters. The compass marks everyone you haven't spoken to. Locations worth knowing:
- Principal is at the skull shrine.
- Healer is on the catwalk above the garden.
- Bang Bang Fire is in her office.
- Director and Understudy are in the Living Center.
- The Bar area has Military Shell (in the lounge), Bartender, and the Assertive, Artistic, Observant, and Knower shells.
▶It's a part of growing up
Unlocks automatically when you finish Chapter 4.
▶Chapter 5
There is nothing missable in Chapter 5, but the way it ends catches people out.
▶I always find you, don't I?
Unlocks automatically when you finish Chapter 5.
▶Chapter 6
Chapter 6 has three parts. Part 1 and Part 3 each have their own talk-to-everyone achievement. Part 2 has none. Make a manual save at the start of the chapter. If you miss a Part 3 conversation, chapter select may only let you restart from the beginning of Chapter 6.
▶A clone about town
Window opens: after you first talk to Bartender at the Bar and receive the ingredients task. You won't make progress on the achievement just by arriving in Old Town.
Window closes: when you return the ingredients to Bartender. Make a manual save before handing them in.
The checklist has 19 characters, grouped by area. Each line shows its count in brackets. You don't need to talk to Kris. Melody is listed once, but her story conversation doesn't count, so talk to her again after you've seen Bartender.
- Escalators to the Orchard (3): Worn Out Red, Curt Red, Steely Red.
- Main street outside 48's apartment (4): Unfazed Misc, Twitchy Misc, Tentative Misc, Melody.
- Around the Bar (2): Guarded Misc in the side alley, Waiting Red just outside.
- Garden behind the Bar (2): Angel in the back corner by the Fixer mural, Cocoa nearby.
- "She Will Return" mural under the LED horse sign (1): Athena, guarding the roof elevator.
- Dumpster alley near Athena (3): Vicky, Poppy, and Casual Red at the far end past the caution tape. Casual Red is the one players miss most often.
- Alley to the Traitor mural (2): Blunt Orange on the way, Viyeca on the bench.
- Allmother statue (2): Candace behind the caution tape, Disciplined Red in the alley beside it.
Not confirmed as required and not part of the 19, but free to cover: Cautious Misc by a trash can around the corner from Angel, Bernice in the dumpster alley, and Alert Purple on the way to the Traitor mural.
▶Somebody has to tend bar
Window opens: after 48 chooses the name Blue.
Window closes: the exact cutoff isn't confirmed. The safest approach is to make a manual save as soon as Part 3 begins. Then finish the required story conversations with Kris, clear Old Town, and talk to everyone in the Orchard. Don't start the Glass Box play until this achievement has unlocked.
The window covers Old Town, the tunnel to the Orchard, and the Orchard itself. Old Town and tunnel characters can't be spoken to once you're in the Orchard, so clear Old Town in this order:
- Finish the story conversation with Kris.
- Go to the bottom of the elevator and talk to Athena again. This is the conversation players miss most often.
- Talk to Melody on the main street, who is waiting to see Blue, and to Worn Out Red, who is guarding the exit.
- Only then leave through the exit tunnel toward the Orchard.
Use this core checklist of 14 characters, then talk to the additional characters and the Jiaos listed below:
- Old Town (1): Athena, on her second visit.
- Orchard Floor 1, alcove (1): Eileen.
- Orchard Floor 1, outside Healer's old office (2): Evelyn and Vivian.
- Orchard Floor 1, Library (3): Vanissa behind the front desk, Inquisitive Purple, and Managerial Purple.
- Orchard Floor 1, courtyard (1): Seventeen.
- Orchard Floor 2 (6): Janice in the hall between the Glass Box and Fixer's old office. At the Glass Box stage: Notiris, Notwatcher, Bored Red, and Aloof Red. Victoria outside the Sky Bar.
These 5 guards and townsfolk appear in some required lists but not others. Talk to them on your way through, since each takes seconds:
- Old Town (2): Melody and Worn Out Red.
- Tunnel to the Orchard (2): the Red Shell at the Old Town exit, and Capital Red just before the alcove.
- Orchard alcove (1): the Red Shell at the alcove exit.
All four Jiaos: Candy at the Watcher display in the centre of the Orchard, Toffee in the cave behind the waterfall, Cherry at the table in front of the Glass Box, and Jiao Prime near Bang Bang Fire's old office. Candy is the one most often reported as required. Talk to all four to be safe.
You don't need the Red Shells at the checkpoints outside the residence or before Principal's elevator. Waypoints for characters you've finished can reappear after you reload a save. If someone won't talk to you again, they're already done.
▶Destroy The Provisional Government
Unlocks automatically during the play in the Glass Box, as part of the bombing sequence near the end of Chapter 6. You get there by earning upstairs privileges and finishing the tasks the story gives you. You can't miss it. Only take your seat for the play after Somebody has to tend bar has unlocked.
▶I want you to call me Blue
Unlocks automatically when you finish Chapter 6.
▶Chapter 7
There is nothing missable. Play through it.
▶噉慢慢爬囉 (Then just slowly crawl)
Unlocks automatically when you finish Chapter 7.
▶Chapter 8
There is nothing missable. Make a manual save when you board the train.
▶Sometimes you don't fit in the backpack
Unlocks automatically when you finish Chapter 8.
▶Chapter 9
▶Pacific 50 Descend
You descend through 16 time layers on the ship, from -16 up to -01. Switch layers with LB. Each layer has one recording you have to interact with to move on, and some have extras. There are 34 recordings in total. Before you move on, clear every recording in a layer. Nobody appears on the bottom escalator level where you start.
- -16 (5): George, Mimi, Johnson, Natasha, Amelia. Amelia is upstairs from the others.
- -15 (1): Johnson.
- -14 (1): Johnson.
- -13 (1): Johnson.
- -12 (4): Johnson, George, Amelia, Natasha.
- -11 (4): Johnson, Natasha, George, Amelia. Check the side and escalator areas on both sides.
- -10 (1): George.
- -09 (3): Amelia, Natasha, George.
- -08 (1): Amelia.
- -07 (2): George, Natasha.
- -06 (1): George.
- -05 (3): George on the first-floor bridge, plus Asher and Benjamin, the white silhouettes in the doorways beside and behind Healer.
- -04 (4): George, Natasha, plus Asher and Benjamin again, firing at the bloodstained wall. Check the side area here.
- -03 (1): George.
- -02 (1): Natasha.
- -01 (1): George's body.
Secretary doesn't mark Asher and Benjamin until you're right in front of them, so walk up to both in -05 and again in -04. You can only talk to them in those two layers.
Window closes: when you talk to Healer to continue the story. The achievement may unlock at the last recording you needed or only once you interact with George's body. Make a manual save before George's body, interact with it, and don't talk to Healer until the achievement has unlocked. If it hasn't, load that save and check the busier layers again.
▶Our own path to blood
Unlocks automatically when you finish Chapter 9.
▶Chapter X
Play through Chapter X to the final choice. Nothing before the choice affects the endings.
▶Let this thread be…
Unlocks automatically when you finish Chapter X. You will have it by the end of your first credits ending.
▶The Endings
▶The Lights
At the end of the game, you decide the ending by switching a set of faction lights on or off, then confirming with Secretary. Secretary asks you to confirm a second time before the choice is final. What Secretary says before that second confirmation hints at which light made the difference.
Make a manual save in its own slot as soon as you reach the lights, before you change anything. This save is how you get the second credits ending.
How the lights decide the ending:
- Every light off gives Scorched Earth. The Parents light can be on or off.
- If Mauve's light is on, you get Her Name Is Not Mauve, whatever the other lights are set to.
- With Mauve off, Red Guard on gives The Law.
- With Mauve and Red Guard off, turning off exactly one of Jiaos or Sisters gives Justice For Jiao or Lights Out. The Sisters light covers Healer, Bang Bang Fire, and Fixer.
- With Mauve and Red Guard off and both Jiaos and Sisters on, Principal decides between the two Epitaphs endings.
The Parents light never matters. The five "An Ending" outcomes return you to the lights afterward, so do all five first. The two Epitaphs endings roll credits and don't loop back.
▶An Ending: Scorched Earth
Switch off every light, then confirm.
▶An Ending: Her Name Is Not Mauve
Switch Mauve's light on. The other lights don't matter. Confirm.
▶An Ending: The Law
Switch Mauve off and Red Guard on, then confirm.
▶An Ending: Lights Out
Switch Mauve, Red Guard, and Sisters off, and leave Jiaos on. Then confirm.
▶An Ending: Justice For Jiao
Switch Mauve, Red Guard, and Jiaos off, leave Sisters on, then confirm.
▶Credits Endings
Each Epitaphs ending leads into a short epilogue before the credits. The ending's own achievement unlocks near the start of the epilogue, after a short linear walk. On your first Epitaphs run, keep going to the credits. Use the compass to check every marked set of remains, talk to Principal where she waits, and continue until the credits roll. If the epilogue seems to stall, look for a remains marker you haven't checked yet.
▶Ending: Epitaphs (Red)
Switch Mauve and Red Guard off, leave Sisters and Jiaos on, and switch Principal on. Confirm. The achievement unlocks early in the epilogue. Keep playing through to the credits for Hekki Allmo.
▶Hekki Allmo
Hekki Allmo100G
Unlocks shortly after the credits for whichever Epitaphs ending you finish first. You can't get it from any of the five "An Ending" outcomes.
▶Ending: Epitaphs (Blue)
Load the manual save you made at the lights. Switch Mauve and Red Guard off, leave Sisters and Jiaos on, and switch Principal off. Confirm, then walk forward into the epilogue until the achievement unlocks. You already have Hekki Allmo, so you don't need to watch the credits again.
If you don't have a save at the lights, use chapter select to return to the final scene. It has been reported to offer an Epilogue entry that goes straight back to the lights. Otherwise, replay into Chapter X and make the choice again.
▶Cleanup
▶Using Chapter Select
If any talk-to-everyone achievement or landmark is still locked after the credits, start the chapter it belongs to from chapter select on the main menu and clear that window again. Missed landmarks can be found during any Orchard free roam from Chapter 2 or 3. Since you can't count on starting partway through a chapter, expect to replay from the start of the chapter. For Chapter 6, that means replaying from the start of the chapter if you need Part 3. For a missing ending, use chapter select to return to the final lights instead, through the reported Epilogue entry if it's there.
