Before You Start

The Xbox list has 10 achievements worth 1,000 Gamerscore. It is one shared list for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC through Smart Delivery and Play Anywhere. There is no DLC, and nothing needs online play. As of October 2026, no achievement is known to be discontinued or unobtainable, but there's a historical Xbox issue with Achievement Mode not activating, covered in Unlock Achievement Mode below.

How the List Works

  • TREASURE is the story achievement. Finishing the game once unlocks Achievement Mode, which you get by starting a New Game afterwards.
  • Every achievement except TREASURE and Old Crate says "After finishing the game and unlocking the achievement mode". That covers eight achievements, including The Fastest. A tracker shelf in the garage shows their progress, and it only appears in Achievement Mode worlds.
  • Six of them are cumulative counters: Stonemason, Moneymaker, I AM SHOVEL !, Wasted, Rainbow and BOOOOM!. Xbox reports generally say their progress keeps building across worlds and survives a New Game, and that first-run counts carry over when Achievement Mode starts. Some early reports described unfinished counters resetting after a New Game, though, so carryover isn't guaranteed. So check the garage tracker after any restart, and where you can, finish a counter (especially the 4,000 shovel digs) before you throw a world away. The route does every counter inside Achievement Mode so you can watch it move.
  • The rest work differently. Old Crate needs both keys found in the same world, and its description has no Achievement Mode requirement. Reports conflict on whether the keys appear in the first run, so if both turn up in World 1, open the crate then. Otherwise World 2 is the dependable attempt. Long Fall needs one uninterrupted fall. The Fastest needs one completed run under 30 minutes.
  • Starting a New Game deletes your current world. That means your hole, your upgrades and your money. Anything already unlocked stays unlocked, and most Xbox reports say counter progress carries over too (see above). Check the garage tracker after every restart to confirm.

Route Overview

  1. World 1, the story run. Dig to the treasure. Go for speed, because a sub-30-minute first finish counts for The Fastest and unlocks it once you press Continue or start Achievement Mode.
  2. World 2, the first Achievement Mode world. Do every counter and collectible achievement, then Long Fall. You don't need to reach the treasure in this world.
  3. World 3, the second Achievement Mode world. If World 1 wasn't fast enough, do a dedicated run of The Fastest here. Skip this world if The Fastest already popped.

Missables and Warnings

  • Nothing is permanently missable. Every achievement can be retried in a fresh world.
  • Old Crate needs both keys found in the same world. Find them before you start any New Game.
  • I AM SHOVEL ! only counts shovel digs. Digs with the Drill don't count. Don't buy the Drill in World 2 until the shovel counter reaches 4,000.
  • At the very bottom you can't use the shovel, drill, lamps, dynamite or jetpack. The giant moles there must be avoided on foot.
  • Save at the book in the shed before you quit.

The Money Tile

There is a marked tile on the patio by the umbrella table, between a table leg and a chair. Aim at its top-right corner and hold A to collect a large payout each time. If A doesn't trigger it, some Xbox players got it to work with RT or RT+LT on the same corner.

Xbox players were still using it in September 2026, but a future patch could remove it.

If it pays out, upgrades, dynamite and the speedrun become cheap. Tile money does not count toward Moneymaker, which has to be earned by selling ore. If the tile doesn't work at all, the whole route still works on ore sales.

World 1: The Story Run

Dig to the Treasure

Start a New Game. Ore sells at the computer in the garage, and the upgrade bench and services are there too. The shovel upgrades four times before it becomes the Drill, and that final upgrade costs $600.

  1. If the money tile works, use it right away. Buy the shovel line up to the Drill, then battery and jetpack upgrades.
  2. Without the tile, sell ore as you go and spend on the shovel first, then battery, then jetpack. Deeper ores pay far more (platinum and diamond start appearing beyond roughly 50 and 70 meters).
  3. Dig one straight shaft downward. If your battery hits zero, the shovel blows up and you lose the ore you're carrying, so head up to recharge before that happens.
  4. Buy some lamps and a few sticks of dynamite before the deep layers. Large rocks need dynamite, and the depths are dark.
  5. Below about -100 m, the shaft breaks into the mine where the moles live. Sell everything before you enter, because you won't be coming back up.

TREASURE

The achievement unlocks when you reach the treasure chest at the bottom. That ends the game.

The final cave holds giant moles, and you can't use any tools down there. The way through is reported to be the left-hand passage in the first mole room and the middle passage in the second. Wait until a mole faces away, then sprint past to the chest, since moles lose interest once you get far enough away. Running is fiddlier on a controller than on a keyboard, so take the turns carefully. Being caught at the chest is part of the ending, so that's expected.

Afterwards, let the credits finish.

Unlock Achievement Mode

Go back to the main menu. The New Game option may now mention Achievement Mode. On Xbox, the prompt may only warn that it will delete your progress. The reliable confirmation is the tracker shelf in the garage of the new world, so check for it as soon as you load in.

Press Continue on the finished save once before starting a New Game. Results register this way, and if World 1 took under 30 minutes, The Fastest should pop here or when Achievement Mode starts.

HISTORICALLY REPORTED BUG (Xbox, December 2025 to January 2026): Achievement Mode sometimes failed to activate after the story was finished. First make sure you actually reached the chest. Then press Continue on the cleared save, fully close and restart the game, and start a New Game to look for the garage shelf. If the shelf still isn't there, finish the game again, which is quick with the money tile. That worked for some players but not all, and no universal fix or patch has been confirmed.

Start a New Game. That is World 2, your first Achievement Mode world.

World 2: Achievement Mode Counters

Check the tracker shelf in the garage as soon as you arrive. It shows each counter, plus any first-run progress that carried over. Work from what it says.

Opening Minutes on the Surface

Your backpack starts with only three slots. That's ideal for Wasted, so do it before you buy any inventory upgrades.

Wasted

The achievement unlocks when 50 ores have been destroyed in total.

When your inventory is full, any further ore you dig up is destroyed and the screen says "ORE DESTROYED". Fill your three slots on the surface, then keep digging the top layer until 50 have been destroyed. Ores destroyed this way don't count for Stonemason, so the two can't overlap. Dying in a fall while carrying ore is not the method. The full-inventory pickup is what counts.

Moneymaker

The achievement unlocks when your total earnings reach $20,000. It counts money earned, not money held, so spend freely, and every sale in this world counts toward it. Surface stones only sell for about $1 each, so this counter barely moves until you're selling deep ore. The real work is in Deeper Digging below.

Use the money tile now if it works, so you can fund the upgrades. It won't move the Moneymaker counter.

Shovel Work in the Top Layers

Buy inventory upgrades now, but hold off on shovel upgrades until you've done the stationary shovel farm under I AM SHOVEL !, because that method only works with the starting shovel. After that, buy shovel upgrades up to but not including the Drill. Then work through Stonemason, the rest of I AM SHOVEL ! and Old Crate together while you hunt for stones and keys in the top 50 meters.

Stonemason

The achievement unlocks after 100 stones have been collected. Stones are the white rocks, mostly found in the top layer.

They must actually go into your inventory, so sell or empty out whenever you fill up. Stones only sell for about $1, so any income here is a bonus.

I AM SHOVEL !

The achievement unlocks after 4,000 digs with the shovel. Drill digs don't count.

Do the stationary farm first, while you still have the unupgraded starting shovel, because that's the only tool this method works with. It's a long hold, so buy battery upgrades beforehand, and leave the shovel itself completely unupgraded:

  1. Before buying any shovel upgrade, stand on grass and aim down at it.
  2. Hold RT, adjusting your angle until the digs keep registering.
  3. Check the garage tracker to confirm the count is rising.

Ordinary digging also counts with any shovel tier before the Drill, one shovel action per RT press. So if you stop farming early, you can buy shovel upgrades and finish the count while digging the upper layers for stones and keys. Keep the battery topped up. Only buy the Drill once this pops.

Old Crate

The achievement unlocks when you open the crate in the garage, which takes two keys found in the same world.

The keys spawn at random places in each world. Players usually find one at roughly 15 to 25 meters down and the other at roughly 35 to 45 meters, almost always within the first 50. They're often on opposite sides of the garden, but can be on the same side.

The item detector switches on by itself whenever a hidden object is within a few feet of you. That can be a key, but also a chest or a hidden room. If it's silent, nothing is in range yet. When it lights up, follow the strengthening signal until you uncover what it found, and keep searching if it turns out not to be a key. Sweep wide across the upper layers instead of digging only one shaft. Once you have both keys, take them to the garage crate and open it. The crate gives you useful gear, including a dynamite upgrade and a one-use teleporter.

Find both keys before starting any New Game. Starting one rerolls the world and you'd have to start over.

Deeper Digging

With the shovel achievements done, buy the Drill and more battery, jetpack and inventory upgrades. The next phase is about clearing a lot of ground on the way down.

This is also where Moneymaker gets done. Platinum sells for $100 and diamond for $250. Platinum starts appearing past roughly 50 m and diamond past roughly 70 m. A large backpack full of diamond-layer ore is worth thousands per trip, so a few deep runs while widening the hole will finish the $20,000. Check the tracker after each sale.

Rainbow

The achievement unlocks after five rainbow ores have been collected.

Rainbow ore only spawns in Achievement Mode worlds, never in the first story run. It glows with cycling colors. It doesn't sell, and don't expect the item detector to point you to it. Spawns are random per world and often come in clusters. Check visible caverns between roughly -15 and -45 m first, where finds are most often reported. Then widen the search to cavern openings and the walls of your hole at other depths. These are reported tendencies, not guaranteed spawn depths. Some worlds have very few.

  1. Collect any you see while working through the top layers.
  2. Then widen the hole as you go down, looking around every cave pocket and hot rock between roughly -5 and -100 m.
  3. Rainbow progress normally carries between Achievement Mode worlds on Xbox. If this world looks dry, you don't need to clear all of it. Finish your other World 2 work, then keep hunting in a fresh Achievement Mode world, and check the garage tracker after the restart to confirm your count. If it has reset, collect all five in that current Achievement Mode world before you restart again.

Save at the book after each find. Rainbow ores broken by the drill or dynamite are reported to still count, so check the shelf before you go hunting for one you think you lost.

BOOOOM!

The achievement unlocks after 100 sticks of dynamite have been thrown. They don't have to hit anything.

Dynamite costs $100 a stick, so the full count is about $10,000. If the throws don't chain, reselect the dynamite before each one. Use money tile funds or ore sales, and throw them at the large rocks you have to clear anyway while widening the shaft. That doubles as prep for Long Fall.

If the tracker shows 100 or more and nothing has popped, throw a few more, save, and restart the game.

Long Fall Shaft

Long Fall

The achievement unlocks after a single unbroken fall of at least 4 seconds. Dying when you land is fine.

Drops from ground level often stop at around 3.8 to 3.9 seconds. You need extra airtime from the jetpack, plus a shaft wide enough that you never brush a wall or loose dirt. Touching anything ends the fall. The garage shelf shows your best fall time, for example 3.9/4 sec, so you can see how close you are.

  1. Dig a shaft through the middle of the garden all the way down until it opens into the well at the bottom, the entrance to the mole area, around -100 m. Leave nothing in the way of the drop. Make it far wider than you think it needs to be, and clear off any ledges and specks. The corners have unbreakable walls, so stay central.
  2. Empty your inventory, because the landing will probably kill you.
  3. Drop a few meters into the hole, then hover over the center. Boost straight up and release the jetpack just before the height ceiling, so you coast upward and then drop back down through the shaft. This extra height is what gets you past 4 seconds.
  4. Don't touch the jetpack again once you've let go. Using it during the drop breaks the fall.
  5. If the shelf still shows under 4 seconds, widen the shaft and try the boost again. If you keep stopping at about 3.9 seconds, start from the shed roof instead for extra height, then fly out over the center of the shaft and drop.

If the shelf shows 4 seconds or more but nothing has popped, restart the game and redo the fall.

Before Leaving World 2

Check the tracker. TREASURE is already done from World 1. Apart from The Fastest, if it's still outstanding, these should now be done too:

  • Wasted
  • Moneymaker
  • Stonemason
  • I AM SHOVEL !
  • Old Crate
  • Rainbow
  • BOOOOM!
  • Long Fall

You don't need to reach the treasure in this world. If Rainbow is still short, your count should carry over, so finish it in a later Achievement Mode world (see Leftover Cleanup). If the tracker shows it reset there, get all five in that one world. Starting World 3 deletes this world.

World 3: The Speedrun

Under Thirty Minutes

Skip this section if The Fastest already popped.

The Fastest

The achievement unlocks for any run that reaches the treasure within 30 minutes of starting a New Game, including the first story run. The time is checked at the chest, and the garage tracker shows your last completed run time. If it doesn't pop right away, go back to the main menu and press Continue on the finished save, or start Achievement Mode. This world is only the fallback if World 1 was too slow.

  1. Start a New Game. The timer starts here. Skip any cutscene the game lets you skip.
  2. If the money tile works, cash in straight away. Buy the shovel line through the Drill, then strong battery and jetpack upgrades, then a few lamps and some dynamite. With a fully upgraded kit, the run is reported to take around 10 minutes.
  3. Without the tile, the minimum is the shovel upgrades leading up to the $600 Drill upgrade, the Drill itself, and battery upgrades. An efficient route can get under 30 minutes, but it isn't guaranteed, so expect to need a few tries.
  4. Dig one narrow, straight shaft downward. Ignore side caves, mine-shaft chests and money bags unless one is right in your path.
  5. Sell before you enter the mole area. Then take the left passage in the first mole room and the middle one in the second, sprinting when the moles face away. Tight movement past the moles is the hardest part of this on a controller.

Play the run in one go, without pausing or sitting in menus. Nobody has confirmed whether the timer is in-game time or real time.

If you're caught early or the clock is clearly past 30 minutes, start another New Game. A short run costs less than trying to salvage a long one. It's also not confirmed whether reloading a save restores your earlier time, so don't count on it.

Leftover Cleanup

If Rainbow is still missing, start one more Achievement Mode world. Your earlier rainbow count should carry over, but check the tracker to confirm it. If it has reset, collect all five in this world before restarting. It's not confirmed that a finished world can be played on after the chest, so a new world is the dependable option. Hunt it with the method in the Rainbow section, and check the tracker until all ten achievements are done.
