Before You Start

Banjo-Kazooie on Xbox 360 has 12 achievements worth 200 Gamerscore. There is no DLC, no online requirement, and no difficulty setting. Everything is earned on a single save file in one playthrough.

This is the 2008 Xbox Live Arcade port. The Xbox 360 Marketplace closed on July 29, 2024, but as of October 2026 this backward-compatible version is still available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S as a standalone purchase, through subscriptions where offered, or as part of Rare Replay. Every route runs this same Xbox 360 version, and these 12 achievements unlock inside it. Rare Replay's own achievement list is separate and is not covered here.

What Makes This Port Different

  • Notes are saved the moment you collect them. Dying or leaving a world no longer resets them, unlike the N64 original. Jinjos are also kept.
  • Every collectible stays available until the final battle. Nothing in normal play is permanently missable.
  • The pause menu's totals screen shows Jiggies, notes and Extra Honeycomb pieces per world. Use it to check each world before you leave. Click Clock Wood's four seasons share one note count.
  • Mumbo's transformations spend Mumbo Tokens: termite 5, crocodile 10, walrus 15, pumpkin 20 and bee 25. That is 75 of the 116 tokens in the game, so pick up tokens as you clear each world.

Golden Rules

  • Only Cheato's codes and the Bottles' Bonus reward codes are safe to enter in the Treasure Trove Cove Sandcastle. Any other Sandcastle cheat disables saving and leaderboard progress and may block achievement progress for that session. You never need to enter a code for any achievement.
  • Leave Bottles' Bonus (the portrait in Banjo's house) until you have all 900 notes. The old note-deleting glitch, where playing a puzzle before entering the world it shows erased notes there, is PATCHED / NO LONGER A CURRENT ISSUE, so this is only a legacy precaution. It costs nothing because the route ends there anyway.
  • After freeing all five Jinjos in a world, collect their Jiggy immediately. Losing the Jiggy by leaving or dying first is UNVERIFIED, with conflicting reports, but immediate pickup avoids it.
  • Grunty's Furnace Fun and the final battle cannot be replayed. Finish everything else before the final battle.

Route Overview

The route visits the nine worlds in their natural unlock order and clears each one fully, because collected items persist. The Lair jobs (Cheato, Witch Switch Jiggies, water switches) are slotted in as soon as they become possible. The endgame order is: all 900 notes, then Bottles' Bonus, then Furnace Fun, then the final battle.

The final battle needs 94 Jiggies placed in pictures: 69 for the nine worlds and 25 for Grunty's picture. An optional 4-Jiggy picture doubles your health, bringing it to 98. The game has 100, so clearing every Jiggy as you go leaves a small cushion.

Picture costs, with the running total: Mumbo's Mountain 1 (1), Treasure Trove Cove 2 (3), Clanker's Cavern 5 (8), Bubblegloop Swamp 7 (15), Freezeezy Peak 8 (23), Gobi's Valley 9 (32), Mad Monster Mansion 10 (42), Rusty Bucket Bay 12 (54), Click Clock Wood 15 (69), Gruntilda's picture 25 (94), optional health picture 4 (98).

Achievements that need work across the whole game: Music Maestro (900 notes), Show me the honey! (24 Extra Honeycomb pieces), Move Master (all of Bottles' lessons) and Cheating Cheato (three Lair locations). Every Jiggy, Jinjo, note group, honeycomb piece and Cheato spot is listed in the Collectibles section at the end, and each world section below points to the ones you collect there.

Spiral Mountain

Bottles' Training

Bottles offers training at the first molehill. Accepting teaches each basic move in context; declining hands you all of them at once. Either choice works for the honeycombs and Move Master.

Show me the honey!

Collectibles 6 collectibles
  • Spiral Mountain: tree stump — Flap Flip onto the tall stump in the back corner of the stump area.

  • Spiral Mountain: under the bridge — Dive into the moat under the bridge; the piece is in a small underwater alcove.

  • Spiral Mountain: treetop — Climb the lone tree near the bridge and jump or flap up to the piece at the top.

  • Spiral Mountain: waterfall platforms — Feathery Flap across the green platforms in the waterfall pond; the piece is on the third.

  • Spiral Mountain: Quarrie boulders — Beak Barge all four Quarrie boulders (the ones with eyes); the piece appears after the last.

  • Spiral Mountain: garden Colliwobble — Defeat the Colliwobble in the garden (Rat-a-tat Rap works); it drops the piece.

Required: collect all 24 Extra Honeycomb pieces. Six are in Spiral Mountain and two are in each of the nine worlds. This unlocks when you pick up the 24th piece.

Collect the six Spiral Mountain pieces now. They are available whether or not you accepted training:

  • On top of the tall tree stump, reached with Flap Flip.
  • In the underwater alcove in the moat under the bridge.
  • At the top of the lone tree near the bridge, reached by climbing and then flapping.
  • On the third green platform in the waterfall pond, reached with Feathery Flap.
  • After the last of the four Quarrie boulders is broken with Beak Barge.
  • From the Colliwobble in the garden, which drops the piece when defeated.

Every sixth piece adds a unit of health, up to the 18th. The last six give no health bonus but still count.

Move Master

Required: learn every move Bottles teaches in the main worlds. The Spiral Mountain tutorial can be skipped; it isn't what this achievement checks. This unlocks when Bottles gives his final world lesson. Transformations and Mumbo's abilities do not count.

Bottles' world lessons are in Mumbo's Mountain, Treasure Trove Cove, Clanker's Cavern, Bubblegloop Swamp, Freezeezy Peak and Gobi's Valley. Mad Monster Mansion, Rusty Bucket Bay and Click Clock Wood have no lessons. Every molehill is in the open, so you will meet them all by following the route. On this route the final lesson is the Turbo Talon Trot in Gobi's Valley.

Entering the Lair

Collectibles 1 collectible
  • Lair: first Jiggy — On top of the rock formation left of the Lair entrance. Jump up to it. It opens Mumbo's Mountain.

Head up to Gruntilda's Lair. The first Jiggy sits on top of the rock formation to the left just inside the entrance; jump up to it and place it in the Mumbo's Mountain picture to open the first world.

Mumbo's Mountain

Arrival

Bottles teaches Talon Trot, Beak Buster and Egg Firing here. Learn them as you reach his molehills; several notes on the steep slopes need Talon Trot, and Egg Firing is taught on the ledge Chimpy raises after you bring him an orange.

Get Jiggy

Required: collect two Jiggies. This unlocks with the first Jiggy you pick up in Mumbo's Mountain, since the Lair Jiggy was your first. In a Shaman's Eye, in the eye socket on Mumbo's skull, is a quick one.

Music Maestro

Required: collect all 900 notes, 100 in each of the nine worlds. This unlocks when the 900th note is collected. Progress is permanent on this port, so clear every world to 100 notes before leaving it and confirm on the pause totals screen.

In Mumbo's Mountain, the easily missed notes are the six inside the Termite Mound (termite form), the long lines on the hillside ledges and the platforms beside the ruins (Talon Trot), the notes on top of the ruins, and the notes on and inside the huts.

Mumbo's Hut

Mumbo Jumbo

Required: be transformed by Mumbo for the first time. This unlocks when Mumbo turns you into the termite, which needs 5 Mumbo Tokens. Collect five tokens around the world and visit Mumbo's skull.

As the termite, climb Ticker's Tower (the Termite Mound) for its notes and Jiggy. On this version Banjo can't climb the tower himself.

Mumbo's Mountain Cleanup

  • Mumbo's Mountain: Bear-ing Gifts — Climb Conga's tree, take an orange to Chimpy, and he raises the stump.

  • Mumbo's Mountain: Gorilla Warfare — From the raised stump, shoot Conga with eggs while dodging his oranges. Keep hitting until the Jiggy drops.

  • Extra Honeycomb: the cove below the Termite Mound hill (slide down from above) and the Juju totem piece.
  • Hit the Witch Switch near Conga's tree, then leave the world as the termite and climb the mountain above the entrance for its Lair Jiggy.
  • Confirm 100 notes, 10 Jiggies, 2 Extra Honeycomb pieces and all 5 Jinjos.

Treasure Trove Cove

The 50-note door opens the way. The Treasure Trove Cove picture costs 2 Jiggies.

Arrival

Bottles teaches Shock Spring Jump and Flight here. Flight is needed for high notes, honeycombs and Jiggies in several later worlds, so learn both.

Knock out Nipper

Required: defeat Nipper the hermit crab. This unlocks when Nipper is beaten. Wait for him to finish his claw swipes, then Rat-a-tat Rap his face. Repeat until he goes down, then go inside his shell for its notes and Jiggy.

  • Extra Honeycomb: underwater in the corner by Nipper where green bricks meet brown rock, and on a lone crate floating out at sea that only appears up close.
  • The Witch Switch is at the island's peak behind the lighthouse. Its Lair Jiggy lands on the ship ledge near the world entrance.

Clanker's Cavern

Opening the Way

In the Lair, hit the pipe switch and then the grate switch to reach the Clanker's Cavern picture. It costs 5 Jiggies.

Bottles teaches Wonderwing here, inside Clanker.

Free Clanker

Required: free Clanker from his chain. This unlocks when Clanker rises to the surface after you swim through the key hole on his chain three times. Do this early: 61 of the world's notes and most of its Jiggies are on or inside Clanker and only become reachable after he surfaces.

Clanker's Cavern Cleanup

Bubblegloop Swamp

The 180-note door opens this area. Cross the piranha water to the picture, which costs 7 Jiggies.

Arrival

Bottles teaches Wading Boots here. Use them to cross the swamp and the maze safely while collecting notes.

Crocodile Form

Mumbo turns you into a crocodile for 10 tokens. You need it for Mr. Vile's game, the notes around one pillar base, the notes inside the giant croc, and the first Cheato. Go as the crocodile for the back-swamp notes and the purple Jinjo to be safe.

Chomp Chomp!

Required: eat 30 red Yumblies in the first round of Mr. Vile's game, in a single attempt. As a crocodile, enter the giant croc's nostril, start the game and chase red Yumblies only. The first round contains only Yumblies, so eat aggressively.

If you fall short, you can retry. Losing a round lets you try that round again, and Mr. Vile offers a rematch after you win his Jiggy. The Turbo Talon Trot from Gobi's Valley makes this easier but is not required.

Bubblegloop Swamp Cleanup

  • Extra Honeycomb: inside Mumbo's skull at the end of the maze (unlit torch, shelf, Flap Flip) and on Tiptup's podium inside Tanktup. The choir game isn't needed for the piece.
  • Hit the Witch Switch inside one of the huts on the rock pillars. Its Lair Jiggy is collected later, when the 260-note door opens.
  • The first Cheato below needs one trip out as Banjo and one as the crocodile.

First Cheato (Freezeezy Peak Puzzle Room)

Collectibles 1 collectible
  • Cheato: BLUEEGGS (Freezeezy Peak puzzle room) — Through the piranha pipe behind the Bubblegloop Swamp entrance: break the ice ball on the left slope as Banjo, then crawl through the small hole as the crocodile.

The pipe tunnel behind the Bubblegloop Swamp entrance leads to the snowy Freezeezy Peak puzzle room. It has piranha water, so you need the Wading Boots (or the crocodile) to cross it. On the room's left slope, an ice ball blocks a hole too small for Banjo.

  1. With the Wading Boots learned, leave Bubblegloop Swamp as Banjo, cross the pipe, and break the ice ball with a Beak Buster (or another attack). The crocodile can't break it.
  2. Re-enter Bubblegloop Swamp, become the crocodile, and leave the world without detransforming.
  3. Go back through the pipe, enter the small hole as the crocodile and touch Cheato.

Cheating Cheato

Required: find Cheato, Grunty's runaway spellbook, three times in the Lair. Each meeting counts as soon as you touch him. You do not need to enter the codes he gives you. This unlocks on the third meeting. This is meeting 1. Meetings 2 and 3 follow after Mad Monster Mansion.

Freezeezy Peak

The 260-note door opens this area. The picture costs 8 Jiggies.

Second Cheato (Gobi's Valley Lava Room)

Collectibles 1 collectible
  • Cheato: REDFEATHERS (lava room) — As the pumpkin, take the narrow path past Brentilda in the lava room with the Gobi's Valley puzzle and roll through the small tunnel at the end.

Before you leave as the pumpkin, break the crypt gate near the Mad Monster Mansion entrance as Banjo, with a Rat-a-tat Rap or Beak Barge. You need it open for the water switch below.

Leave Mad Monster Mansion as the pumpkin without detransforming. Go to the lava room that holds the Gobi's Valley puzzle, take the narrow path past Brentilda, and roll through the small tunnel at the end to reach Cheato. This is meeting 2.

Rusty Bucket Bay Water Switches

Rusty Bucket Bay's puzzle room needs the Lair water level raised. Do these steps in this order:

  1. With the crypt gate already broken, enter the crypt as the pumpkin through the hole in its door. If your form has worn off, go back to Mumbo in Mad Monster Mansion.
  2. Have Mumbo inside turn you back into Banjo, Beak Buster the coffin lid, and hit the switch beneath it. This is water level 1. Change back to the pumpkin to leave.
  3. Before raising the water again, smash the long tunnel grate in the Mad Monster Mansion puzzle room area with a Rat-a-tat Rap. After the next raise it is underwater and can't be broken.
  4. Hit the second switch, under the crate with the Rare logo in the Rusty Bucket Bay entrance area.
  5. The third switch is behind the breakable grate in the first water room, the one with three pipes. Its raise is temporary; it is used for the third Cheato below.

The Rusty Bucket Bay puzzle costs 12 Jiggies.

  • Lair: To Bee or No Jiggy (Click Clock Wood switch) — After Click Clock Wood's Winter Witch Switch, leave the world as the bee and fly to the nook high in the tree opposite the world entrance.

  • Click Clock Wood: The Jinjos Five — Appears where you free the fifth Jinjo, which on this route is the purple one in Spring as the bee. Take it immediately.

  • Click Clock Wood: purple Jinjo (Spring, bee) — Spring, as the bee: at the top of the honeycomb stairs inside the beehive.

  • With all 25 Click Clock Wood tokens, return to Spring and become the bee. Fly into the beehive and free the purple Jinjo at the top of the honeycomb stairs. If it is your fifth Jinjo, take the Jiggy at once.
  • Leave the world as the bee and fly to the nook in the tree opposite the entrance for the Witch Switch Lair Jiggy.
  • Check the totals. If notes are missing, recheck the Autumn beehive and Mumbo's rafters, then the Winter treehouse roof and the branches above Mumbo's skull.

Endgame

Final Collection Check

Open the totals screen and confirm every world shows 100 notes and 2 Extra Honeycomb pieces, and that Spiral Mountain shows 6.

Music Maestro

If you have been clearing each world to 100 notes, this unlocked with the last note in Click Clock Wood. If not, the totals screen shows which world is short. Revisit it and compare against that world's note groups in the Collectibles section.

Show me the honey!

This unlocks with your 24th piece. If it hasn't, find the world on the totals screen with fewer than 2 pieces, or recheck Spiral Mountain's six.

Collecting all 100 Jiggies is not required for any achievement, but you need 94 placed for the final battle. The 882-note door opens a 4-Jiggy picture that doubles your health bar. It is optional but worth having for the final battle.

Bottles' Bonus

Do this only after Music Maestro has unlocked.

In Banjo's house in Spiral Mountain, stand on the green rug in front of the fireplace and look up at the Bottles portrait in first person. Bottles' Bonus also needs the Sandcastle Jiggy from Treasure Trove Cove, which you already have.

Jigsaw Maker

Required: complete all seven Bottles' Bonus moving-picture puzzles. This unlocks when the seventh puzzle is solved.

  • Each puzzle has a timer. Pieces start rotating from the third puzzle onward.
  • Pressing Start counts as giving up, so don't pause during a run.
  • After the sixth puzzle Bottles says there are no more. Look at the portrait again to unlock the seventh, which has a shorter timer.
  • Each puzzle rewards a Sandcastle code. These codes are safe to enter, but none are needed.

Grunty's Furnace Fun

The 765-note door leads to Furnace Fun. It is mandatory, it cannot be replayed once won, and the final battle is beyond it.

Before entering, talk to Brentilda at all ten of her Lair spots and note or screenshot every fact. She gives three facts per visit, 30 in all. Grunty's own questions are drawn from them, and the answers are randomized per save file. Joker squares can skip some questions, but the facts are the reliable route.

  1. Treasure Trove Cove puzzle room, left of the stairs.
  2. Click Clock Wood puzzle room, between the tree roots.
  3. Clanker's Cavern lobby, on the pipe ledge.
  4. Bubblegloop Swamp entrance, in the mossy pipe tunnel.
  5. Behind the giant Gruntilda statue.
  6. Gobi's Valley entrance, behind the tree.
  7. On the Grunty hat statue near Freezeezy Peak.
  8. Mad Monster Mansion graveyard area, behind a gravestone.
  9. The lava room, on the narrow path you used for the second Cheato.
  10. Click Clock Wood lobby, right of the tree trunk.
  • A wrong answer costs one honeycomb and keeps you on the tile.
  • A wrong answer on a skull tile kills you outright. Losing a life restarts the board from the beginning, so you can retry as many times as you have lives.
  • Joker tiles give you skips.

The Quiz Master

Required: complete Furnace Fun and win the Star Prize. When Grunty offers prizes at the end, take Tooty, the Star Prize. Don't attempt the quiz-skipping speedrun trick, because it is unconfirmed whether it awards this achievement.

Final Battle

Past the 810-note door, the Gruntilda picture costs 25 Jiggies and opens the way to Dingpot and the tower. Before going up, open the 828-note door for a giant blue egg that fully refills your eggs, and the 846 and 864-note doors for red and gold feathers. Remember the final battle cannot be refought.

Jinjonatored

Required: defeat Gruntilda with the Jinjonator. This unlocks when the Jinjonator knocks Grunty off the tower in the final phase.

  • Phase 1: Grunty swoops at you on her broom. Dodge the swoops and her spells, and hit her as she passes low.
  • Phase 2: she hovers out of reach and fires spells. Shoot eggs at her while staying on the move.
  • Phase 3: she flies higher. Use the Flight Pad and Beak Bomb her in the air.
  • Phase 4: fire blue eggs into the four Jinjo statues around the tower. Each takes three eggs before it releases its Jinjo.
  • Phase 5: the Jinjonator statue rises. Keep firing eggs into its sides until all are filled. Go in with a full supply and keep firing into each opening until it visibly completes.
  • If you die, you respawn outside Dingpot's room. An extra life is in the window nearby.

Save after the credits. If you collected all 100 Jiggies, you also see the full ending.

Troubleshooting

  • Missing notes after Bottles' Bonus: the old glitch is patched, but a save it already affected cannot be repaired, and Music Maestro then needs a new save file. Check the totals screen against each world's note groups first.
  • A world short one Jiggy after its Jinjos: go back to where you freed the last Jinjo first; the Jiggy may still be waiting there. Restoring an earlier save may help, but this is not a confirmed fix.
  • Clanker's Cavern short one Jiggy: shoot the second gold tooth.
  • Achievements not appearing on Xbox One or Series: they may have unlocked offline. Make sure you are signed in and online so they sync.
