Before You Start

Barbie Horse Trails has 15 achievements worth 1,000 Gamerscore on one shared Xbox list (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows via Play Anywhere). There is no DLC and no title-update content on the list.

  • Playthroughs: one.
  • Online/co-op: none. The game is single player and every achievement is offline.
  • Difficulty: there are no difficulty settings and no fail states, so no achievement depends on difficulty.
  • Missables: none are reported. Story achievements cannot be skipped, every side achievement is available throughout the main story, and side quests are reported to stay available after the credits.
  • Unobtainable status (as of October 2026): no achievements are reported unobtainable. Two community-flagged quirks are covered where they matter: Ranger Quinn's Starstruck at Starside photo often fails to register, and Friends in Need often unlocks before every side quest is done.
  • Barbie choice: picking Malibu or Brooklyn (and the starter horse that comes with her) is cosmetic. It does not affect any achievement.

The One Rule That Matters

Finish your side achievements before you start the final main quest, Best Friends Forever. Side quests are reported to stay available after the credits, so this isn't a point of no return, but cleaning up first means the ending is your last achievement and nothing is left hanging. The story will pause you before the ending anyway: Head Ranger Annalise's Packet Progress quest won't complete until your park packet reaches 2,000 points. Main quests, side quests, photos and newly discovered locations all add points. Side quests aren't strictly required for the packet, but Friends in Need asks for all of them.

How Progress Works

  • White exclamation marks on the map are quests. Track the one you want from the quest menu to get a blue waypoint.
  • New side quests appear as you meet NPCs, so talk to everyone with a marker as you ride past.
  • When you aim the camera, wait for the subject's name to appear on screen before you take the shot. If it doesn't appear, move Barbie or change the angle until it does, because a photo without the name may not count.
  • Photos of animals, people, viewpoints and sparkly photo-spot signs all feed the park packet and the Park Catalogue. Photos still count after you delete them, so you can clear space when the gallery fills up. Keep at least five favorite shots saved for the Golden Moments story quest near the end.
  • You can call Lucky (or Dancer) to you after the prologue, and fast travel unlocks as you ride close to each fast-travel point.

Main Story: Arrival to the Mustang

Prologue

Ride out with Lady Carson on a borrowed horse, groom it, saddle up at a hitching post, get your own horse, and get sworn in as a Junior Ranger.

Welcome to Canterbury Trails

Unlocks when the prologue ends. It is unmissable.

Scenic Photography 101

Barbie's dad, Mr. Roberts, hands over the camera here. Take the requested shots: a Desert Cottontail, the other Barbie with her horse, and the three scenic views (Mac Peak, Mount Douglas and Starside Lake).

Snapshot

Unlocks when you finish the camera tutorial in this quest. It can pop before you hand Scenic Photography 101 in, so don't worry if it arrives early. If one of the three scenic views doesn't register, ride back to that view's photo-spot sign and retake the shot from there.

Well Done

After you finish a quest, a Super Pet becomes available to congratulate your horse. Walk up to your horse, open the interaction wheel and choose Super Pet, which takes the place of the normal Pet option. The first one becomes available when you hand Scenic Photography 101 in to Mr. Roberts. It isn't timed, and later quests offer it again, so you can't lose the chance.

New Look

A changing station sits behind the little building right next to where you hand in Scenic Photography 101. There are more at the stables and the Ranger Station. Step in and change any piece of Barbie's clothing to unlock it.

Horse Bond: Work On It From Here

Bonded

Required: raise Horse Bond to its max level, which is level 11. The achievement unlocks when the bond reaches max.

Bond rises from caring for your horse:

  • pet it whenever the game prompts you
  • feed it the food you collect
  • groom it fully (brushing and washing)
  • give the super pet after quests, which is a large boost

If you care for your horse after most quests, you will usually hit level 11 around the middle of the story without grinding. A reportedly faster option: buy apples at the General Store during the day and feed several at a time. Each bond level pays out tokens you can spend on more apples. Bond level 4 also unlocks jumping, which Ken's Urgent Delivery side quest needs.

Trailmarking, Archaeology and Wildlife Photography

Continue the story: Trailmarking 101 with Annalise, Archaeology 101 with Dr. Potts (your first artifact puzzle: rotate the pieces to fit), and Wildlife Photography 101 (a photo of a green anole). If the game says your gallery is full, delete some photos (keep five you like for later). Your catalogue progress is kept.

Ranger Rory, Ranger Quinn, Dr. Green and Stella start offering side quests as you meet them. You can do their first missions now or wait for the side quest window below. Doing at least one each now gets four achievements out of the way early.

Horse Race

Lady Carson's Horse Race story quest is a gate-to-gate race against another rider.

1st Place

Required: win any race. The achievement unlocks the moment you finish first. The story race is the natural place to get it. If you lose, retry it, or try any race marked with a checkered flag on the map.

Mystery Horse to The Thrilling Conclusion

Work through Mystery Horse (the second artifact), Mr. Roberts' Backpack Quest at the General Store, and Lady Carson's Website Pics (collect tack at fast-travel spots, then take three photos per horse). Then follow the Silver Canyon Mustang chain: recover the final artifact, then start The Thrilling Conclusion. Ride back toward the start of the park (the Wildflower Gully and park entrance area) and photograph the mustang where the quest marker sends you. Then return to Dr. Potts with the photo to finish the chain.

Silver Canyon Mustang

Unlocks when you find and photograph the mustang and complete The Thrilling Conclusion with Dr. Potts. If it hasn't popped after the photo, finish the hand-in. It is unmissable story progress.

Side Quest Window

After the mustang, the remaining main quests depend on park packet progress. This is the point to clear every side quest and earn enough park packet points.

Friends' Missions

The game's side quests come from these friends. Clear them all:

  • Stella: Stellar Scan (Big Dipper), Stellar Search (Leo), Stellar Survey (Hercules), Meteor Shower (around 11 PM in-game), Planetary Presents
  • Dr. Green: Sample Snafu, Leaf Sorting I to III, The Perfect Centerpiece (photo of a pink monkeyflower)
  • Ranger Rory: Where the Wallflowers Are, Sun Fall Viewing (around 5 PM in-game)
  • Ranger Quinn: Trail Trek (place trail markers like Trailmarking 101, then photograph the little pond at the end of the trail), Starstruck at Starside (photograph the fireflies over the lake, which only appear between 5:00 PM and 10:59 PM in-game), A Finch in Focus (daytime only)
  • Ken: Urgent Delivery (fetch the first-aid kit in Sequoia Valley and bring it back to Ken at Starside Lake; needs the horse jump, unlocked at bond level 4)
  • Nikki: Fashion Photography (nine outfit photos across three spots)
  • Daisy: Lofi Mix (record the Manzanita Bluff waterfall, then Starside Lake, then owl calls near the Fernbrush Grove campsite, showing Daisy after each)
  • Teresa: Sticker Swap (three specific stickers: one at the park entrance, one at the stable dropbox, and one in a box between Manzanita Bluff and Sequoia Valley; you may already have the first two)
  • Letty: Camping Conundrum (inspect two campsites, and unlock the fast-travel point at both before returning to Letty)
  • Renee: Snack Attack (includes a photo of the General Store clerk while you buy almond butter)

That's all 21 side quests. Tick them off by name rather than trusting the map alone: a quest giver can be hard to spot when their marker doesn't show. If you can't find Stella for Stellar Search, check the map at night and look for the purple icon beside her character portrait, which is where she waits. You're done when every named quest above is complete and no white exclamation marks remain.

Tips for the fiddly ones:

  • Several quests need a time of day. Advance the clock and then ride or fast travel to the spot.
  • Starstruck at Starside photo not registering (CURRENTLY COMMUNITY-FLAGGED / BUGGY as of October 2026): if photographing the fireflies only gets a line about a better view at the lookout and the journal doesn't update, try standing directly on the blue quest marker (0 m) during the 5:00 PM to 10:59 PM window and taking the photo from there. This is a reported workaround, not a guaranteed fix.
  • If the finch for A Finch in Focus doesn't show, make sure it's daytime, fast travel to the stables, and return.
  • If any required animal won't spawn, quitting to the main menu and reloading respawns wildlife.
  • Constellation puzzles: you connect stars on a star field with no outline shown, so draw the real constellation shape. Big Dipper (Stellar Scan): seven stars, a four-star bowl with a three-star curved handle running off one corner. Leo (Stellar Search): a backward question mark of stars for the head and mane, joined to a triangle of stars for the hindquarters. Hercules (Stellar Survey, Stella waits at the Manzanita Bluff campsite): a four-star keystone in the middle, with lines of stars running out from its corners for the arms and legs.
  • In Leaf Sorting, each leaf should differ from its neighbor by exactly one trait (color, shape or pattern). Leaving and re-entering the puzzle gives you a fresh set of leaves if you get stuck.

Star Search

Unlocks when you complete any one Stella mission. Stellar Scan (the Big Dipper) is the quickest.

Green Thumb

Unlocks when you complete any one Dr. Green mission. Sample Snafu is the first one.

Ranger Duty

Unlocks when you complete any one Ranger Rory mission.

Ranger Duty II

Unlocks when you complete any one Ranger Quinn mission.

Friends in Need

Required: complete every side quest for Barbie's friends. Clearing all 21 covers it however the counter behaves.

CURRENTLY COMMUNITY-FLAGGED / BUGGY (as of October 2026): it often unlocks before every side quest is done, sometimes well before. If it has already popped, you don't need the remaining side quests for 1,000G as long as Star Search, Green Thumb, Ranger Duty and Ranger Duty II have all unlocked too. Any leftover quests then only matter for packet points or if you want every quest done.

Park Catalogue Photos

While you ride between side quests, photograph everything new: animals (many have several variants, and some only appear at certain times of day), friends, fast-travel points, viewpoints and the sparkly photo-spot signs. Open the blue crates you pass too, since they hold stickers and outfits. You don't need a complete catalogue for any achievement. Photos only help fill the park packet, so stop once it reaches 2,000 points.

Endgame

Start these once Friends in Need and the four friend achievements have unlocked.

Packet Progress

Return to Head Ranger Annalise. The packet needs 2,000 points. Watch the packet progress meter on screen. If it isn't full yet, she won't finish the quest. Take more catalogue photos (new animals, friends, viewpoints and photo-spot signs) or discover new locations, then come back. Once it's ready, she prints a certificate for you to take to Lady Carson.

Park Progress

Unlocks when you complete the park packet through Annalise's Packet Progress quest.

Golden Moments

Pick five saved photos from your gallery for Mr. Roberts (if you deleted everything, take five new photos first), then gather the story's friends one by one for the big group photo. Follow the marker for each person.

Golden Moments

Unlocks at the group photo that ends this quest. Keep following the quest steps until it pops. It is unmissable story progress.

Best Friends Forever

Last check: horse bond at level 11, a race won, an outfit changed, and Friends in Need plus the four friend achievements unlocked. Then meet the other Barbie at the sightseeing spot and talk to her to roll the credits.

Best Friends Forever

Unlocks when you complete the final main quest. This should be your final achievement.
