▶Completion Plan
▶Xbox Version, Status, and Route Rules
This guide covers the Xbox One and Xbox Series X and Series S achievement list for Halo: The Master Chief Collection: 700 achievements worth 7,000G. The list breaks down as 85 collection-wide achievements, 95 for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, 119 for Halo 2 (campaign plus classic multiplayer Easter eggs), 38 for Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer, 89 for Halo 3, 99 for Halo 3: ODST, 100 for Halo: Reach, and 75 for Halo 4 (campaign, Spartan Ops, and multiplayer). Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach came as later content additions and are part of the same list today.
- CURRENTLY CONFIRMED UNOBTAINABLE: None as of 2026-10-02.
- CURRENTLY CONFIRMED DISCONTINUED: None as of 2026-10-02. No shutdown of MCC online services has been announced. The most recent game patch was released in September 2025, and matchmaking was still running in late 2025.
- Online requirements: Eighteen achievements need online matchmaking. These are Bite The Hand, seven matchmade-medal achievements (Domination, Double Trouble, Spree Master, Catch This, Party Pooper, Planting A Flag, The True King), eight Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer achievements, and Negative, Ghostrider and Skunked in Halo: Reach. Skunked depends on a Reach Invasion playlist that players describe as nearly empty, so plan on organized boosting.
- Co-op requirements: Annual (Halo 3) and Déjà Vu (ODST) need a full four-player co-op team on Legendary. Forza in the Fall, Fly, You Fools!, and We're Gonna Need a Bigger Ship (Reach) and Like Peanut Butter and Chocolate (Halo 2) need a second player. The three "Bro" achievements need any co-op mission.
- Local multiplayer: Xbox split-screen guests can act as opponents in custom games, which covers most multiplayer achievements that need a second human. MCC has no bots.
- Time-gated: Stick With It...A Little Longer needs a co-op or multiplayer game at least three months after your first game. Six calendar achievements need you to play a specific game on a specific day of the month, and two multiplayer Easter eggs need specific holidays.
- Difficulty: Every campaign needs a Legendary completion. Legendary completion stacks downward to Heroic, Normal, and Easy. Halo: Reach and Halo 4 also require every mission on Legendary solo.
- Playthroughs: Mission select is open from the start for every game, so nothing in a campaign is a true missable. Expect several passes per game anyway: a Legendary pass, an Easy par-time pass, a scoring pass, the playlists, and the LASO playlist.
- Hardest items: The two tight Legendary speedruns (Goat Roped and Monopolized; the other four 3-hour speedruns leave more room), the game-specific LASO playlists and LASO Master, the two four-player co-op challenges, and the matchmaking grinds in Halo 2: Anniversary.
- Point of no return: There are no campaign points of no return. The only things that can genuinely become impossible are the online achievements if servers close, so do not leave matchmaking for years.
▶How MCC Tracks Progress
A few rules apply across the whole collection. Learning them now prevents wasted runs.
- Mission select: Every mission of every game can be launched individually. Difficulty achievements track each mission separately, so you can build a Legendary sweep over many sessions.
- Starting a mission: Par score requires the mission to be started from its beginning, not from a later mission segment or rally point. Treat par times, and challenges that require completing the whole mission, the same way.
- Campaign scoring: Turn campaign scoring on in the mission setup before any par-score attempt. Higher difficulties multiply score (Legendary is four times Normal), deaths and checkpoint reverts cost points, and finishing fast adds a time bonus.
- Skulls: All skull modifiers can be selected from the start. Turning skulls on does not block ordinary achievements. Some skulls zero out the score multiplier, so avoid any skull that shows a x0.00 multiplier warning on a scoring run, and on Legendary sweep runs too, because x0.00 skulls have been reported to void Legend credit. Skull-specific achievements (for example, Starved For Shields in Halo 2) need exactly the skulls they name.
- LASO and playlists: The game-specific LASO achievements only count through the LASO playlist itself. Turning on every skull yourself does not count. Playlists save progress between sessions, so you can quit and resume.
- Co-op: Online co-op counts for nearly everything, including Legendary sweeps and the cumulative-time speedruns. The exceptions are A Monument To All Your Sins, Lone Wolf Legend, and Smooth Operator, which must be solo, and Classic in ODST, which must be solo. Halo 2's Monopolized is also safest with solo times (see Halo 2).
- Speedrun achievements: The 3-hour Legendary achievements total your best Legendary time on each mission, solo or co-op (except that Monopolized is safest solo). They do not need one sitting. Your times are visible in the Career section of the main menu and on your Halo Waypoint service record.
▶Collection Route Order
This guide uses in-universe story order: Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 3, then Halo 4. Any order works. The games share no unlock dependencies, and story order keeps the narrative straight while letting collection-wide counters build steadily.
Inside each game, the route works mission by mission. For each mission, do the Legendary run with its collectibles and challenges, then the Easy par-time run, then the scoring run, so you learn the level once and finish it. Game-wide speedruns, playlists, and LASO follow at the end of each game. Multiplayer is listed per game, but solo custom-game work can be done any time. The online matchmaking grinds have their own section near the end; start them early and play them in parallel with the campaigns.
▶Before You Start
▶First Session Setup
These achievements cost a few minutes and work offline. Do them in your first session.
▶Mystery Achievement
Create any custom game variant and save it with the name .fortune. The achievement unlocks when the variant is saved under that name. Halopedia notes that other saved names (map variants, loadouts, and similar) also trigger it, but the custom game variant is the standard method.
▶Game Master
Save five custom game variants in the custom games lobby. Changing one setting and saving under a new name is enough each time. The .fortune variant above counts as one of the five. The achievement unlocks when the fifth variant is saved.
▶Master Forger
Open Forge in any game, place or move one object, and save the map variant. Repeat until you have saved five map variants. The achievement unlocks when the fifth is saved. If you save one of them in Halo: Reach on Forge World, you also earn Capacious Cartography (covered in the Halo: Reach multiplayer section).
▶Your Journey Begins
Complete any campaign mission or multiplayer match. It unlocks on your first completion, so it will come with the first mission you finish in this guide.
▶Stick With It...A Little Longer
Play any multiplayer or co-op game at least three months after your first MCC game. You cannot speed this up. Note the date you started, and make sure you play an online co-op mission or a multiplayer game after the three-month mark. The guide's matchmaking phase will cover it naturally, but put a reminder in your calendar.
▶Calendar Achievements
Each of these unlocks as soon as you start a game session (a campaign mission, multiplayer match, or Firefight) in the named game on the named day of any month. The simplest approach is to keep a list and launch a mission on the right day. Players commonly report that changing the console date works, and Halo: Reach sources specifically say you must stay online, so the safest route is to just play on the real date.
▶A Day To Remember
Start any Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary mission or match on the 15th of any month.
▶Back At It
Start any Halo 2 Anniversary game on the 9th of any month.
▶Do You Remember When We Met
Start any Halo 3: ODST game on the 22nd of any month.
▶Third Time's A Charm
Start any Halo 3 mission or match on the 25th of any month.
▶Remember Reach
Start any Halo: Reach game on the 14th of any month.
▶A Long Time Ago
Start any Halo 4 game (campaign, Spartan Ops, or multiplayer) on the 6th of any month.
▶Long-Running Counters
These cumulative achievements progress across every game and mode. Nothing here needs a dedicated session yet. Just know they exist so your campaign play counts toward them. The final cleanup section explains how to finish whatever is left.
▶Just Getting Started
Kill 100 enemies or players in any mode. This unlocks early in your first campaign.
▶Foe Hammer
Foe Hammer10G
Kill 5,000 enemies or players. Expect this to unlock partway through the campaigns.
▶Thanks A Killion
Kill 20,000 enemies or players. Campaign kills, Firefight kills, and multiplayer kills all count. Most players finish this with custom Firefight after the campaigns.
▶Where Am I?
Complete 10 missions or multiplayer games. Every campaign mission and every finished multiplayer game counts, solo or co-op, and so do missions finished inside playlists.
▶Just A Taste
Collect 500 campaign or playlist medals. Medals earned in campaign missions and campaign playlists count, regardless of whether medals display on your screen. Custom games do not count. In split-screen, only the main signed-in player earns medals toward this track, so play your campaigns on your own profile as player one. Turning on the scoring HUD makes it easier to see what you are earning.
▶Balaho's Most Wanted
Kill 100 Grunts. All species-kill achievements count kills across every game, in campaign on any difficulty and in Firefight, including custom Firefight. Kills are not removed when you die or revert a checkpoint, so you can re-kill the same group after reloading. This unlocks naturally in the first few missions.
▶The One Percent
Kill 100 Elites. This comes naturally in Halo: Reach and Halo: Combat Evolved.
▶Spoilsport
Kill 100 Jackals. This comes naturally during the early campaigns.
▶Going Bananas
Kill 100 Brutes. Brutes appear in Halo: Reach, Halo 2, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 3. This will unlock during whichever of those you play first.
▶Hunters Hunted
Kill 50 Hunters. Hunters are rare in normal play, so this will probably still be in progress after the campaigns. The final cleanup section covers a custom Firefight farm.
▶Delicious Brains
Kill 100 Flood. The Flood appear in Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3 campaigns, and in Halo 3: ODST custom Firefight with Flood waves, so this unlocks naturally.
▶Checkmate
Kill 100 Watchers. Watchers, Knights, and Crawlers exist only in Halo 4 and its Spartan Ops. These three progress during the Halo 4 section.
▶I Was Wondering What Would Break First
Kill 100 Knights. Halo 4 only.
▶Pest Control
Kill 100 Crawlers. Halo 4 only. This usually unlocks during the Halo 4 campaign.
▶Halo: Reach
▶Reach Plan and Difficulty
Halo: Reach has nine story missions with achievements plus Lone Wolf. Noble Actual is a cutscene prologue. The route plays every mission solo on Legendary, because A Monument To All Your Sins requires solo Legendary and also covers every lower difficulty achievement. Data Pads 1 through 9 appear on any difficulty and Data Pads 10 through 19 only on Legendary, so the Legendary run collects both sets.
For each mission, do the Legendary run first, then an Easy run for the par time, then a scoring run. Par times work on any difficulty. Turn campaign scoring on for the scoring run. Speed matters more than kills in Reach scoring: kill points are tripled while you are under par time, and the bonus decays to normal over the following ten minutes. Guides commonly use Heroic with Catch, Famine, Thunderstorm, and similar multiplier skulls. Commenters report that Normal with Catch, Famine, and Thunderstorm also works.
▶Mission 1: Winter Contingency
On Legendary, your first job is the Data Pad 10 carrier: as soon as you have control, scope in once with your assault rifle for I'm Sorry, Dave, then sprint straight down the hill after the cloaked Elite. Hunt the Moa afterward.
▶I'm Sorry, Dave
Aim down the sights (zoom) with an MA37 assault rifle, M319 grenade launcher, or M45 shotgun. A small binary signature appears in the scope overlay and the achievement unlocks. It works on any mission, difficulty, or mode, so do it in the first minute of Winter Contingency.
▶Clear and Present Danger
On Legendary only, a cloaked Spec Ops Elite spawns near the distress-beacon site at the start of the mission, carrying Data Pad 10, and flees downhill along the lower path toward a gate, away from your first objective. Sprint down the hill immediately and hit it before it reaches the gate; when tagged, it pauses and looks at you, which gives you time to strip its shields and kill it. Emptying the magnum into it and finishing it with the assault rifle works well, and accurate fire matters, because wasted ammo is the usual reason the chase fails. If it gets past the gate, it keeps running but can still be killed. The achievement unlocks when you kill the carrier. If it is genuinely lost, restart the mission on Legendary; it is not documented whether reverting to a checkpoint brings it back. A co-op partner makes the chase easier on a separate Legendary run, but your solo Legendary run is the one that counts for A Monument To All Your Sins.
▶Unreliable Narrator
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 10Data Pad 10 — Winter Contingency, Legendary only: carried by the fleeing cloaked Elite at the start of the mission; kill it before it escapes.
Walk over Data Pad 10, dropped by the Elite you just killed. This requires Legendary.
▶Keep It Clean
Kill seven Moa, the flightless birds that wander the opening farmland. You must get all seven in the same run; reverting to a checkpoint before the seventh kill resets the count. Shoot them from range as soon as you see them, then continue.
▶Hey, You Dropped This
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 1Data Pad 1 — Winter Contingency, any difficulty: beside dead civilians in the circular building at the south end of the first homestead cluster after the bridge.
Data Pad 1 works on any difficulty. Take the flatbed truck to the bridge, then keep left after it until you reach a small cluster of homestead buildings that Jun flags with "Heat sigs in the structure ahead." The pad lies beside a group of dead civilians in the circular building at the south end of that cluster, the structure on the right as you arrive. It unlocks when you pick it up.
▶What About Bob?
Kill a gold Ranger Commander Elite named Bob. These rare Elites can appear on several missions, but a known spot is on Winter Contingency on Heroic or Legendary, near the Bravo area past the waterfall. Bob tends to flee, so kill him quickly. If he does not appear, it is not worth restarting the mission. Keep an eye out on other missions instead.
▶They've Always Been Faster
Finish Winter Contingency without entering any drivable vehicle. It only counts on Normal or higher, so do it on the Legendary run by walking every vehicle section, or on a separate Normal run if you would rather drive on Legendary. It unlocks once you clear the landing zone for the Falcon, before the mission ends. Avoid the Warthog passenger and gunner seats as well. In co-op, if any player enters a vehicle, nobody earns it.
▶We're Just Getting Started
Complete Winter Contingency on any difficulty. It unlocks at the end of your first run.
▶Winter Urgency
Beat the 15:00 par time on Winter Contingency. Play on Easy, skip cutscenes, and drive between objectives. If you skipped the vehicles on your Legendary run, remember that this run can use them.
▶Ice In Your Veins
Beat the 15,000 par score on Winter Contingency with scoring turned on.
▶Mission 2: ONI: Sword Base
▶Read Halsey's Journal
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 2Data Pad 2 — ONI: Sword Base, any difficulty: under the topmost staircase in the facility atrium, at the future multiplayer shotgun spawn.
Data Pad 2 works on any difficulty. Inside the ONI facility's atrium (the area that becomes the Sword Base multiplayer map), climb the ramps; the pad is under the topmost staircase, at the spot that becomes the multiplayer shotgun spawn. Sources count this floor differently (second floor of the atrium, or the fourth floor under the stairs to the fifth), but it is the only any-difficulty pad on this mission.
▶What Does It All Mean?
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 11Data Pad 11 — ONI: Sword Base, Legendary only: on the cliff past the broken wooden bridge at Farragut Station; Sprint jump.
On Legendary, Data Pad 11 is at Farragut Station. At the building with the comms-relay switch, a broken wooden extension at the back reaches toward the neighbouring cliff. Sprint-jump the gap in the wooden bridge (a grenade jump also works), then follow the rocks to the right to the pad.
▶Two Corpses In One Grave
Use the Target Locator to destroy two vehicles with one strike. After exiting the ONI building, wait until the two Wraiths sit close together, then call the strike between them. Alternatively, a Phantom drops two Ghosts at Airview Base that can be hit with one strike. One TrueAchievements report flags this as buggy and recommends Normal, where the vehicles are less likely to move apart; if it fails on Legendary, try a separate Normal run.
▶Forza in the Fall
This needs two players. Hidden switches sit on rocks by the water and on a cliff ledge overlooking the base. Both players press their switch at the same time; the objective changes to Reach Racer and the achievement unlocks. Do this with any co-op partner. It does not need Legendary.
▶Protocol Dictates Action
Complete ONI: Sword Base on any difficulty.
▶Just Like Storming a Castle
Beat the 10:00 par time on ONI: Sword Base on Easy.
▶Still Sharp
Still Sharp10G
Beat the 25,000 par score on ONI: Sword Base with scoring turned on.
▶Mission 3: Nightfall
Play Nightfall from the start of the mission. Data Pad 12 does not spawn if you load the mission from Rally Point Bravo, so never use that rally point for your Legendary run or any pad replay.
▶Meeting of the (Artificial) Minds
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 3Data Pad 3 — Nightfall, any difficulty: in a small cave off the right-hand canyon wall at the very start.
Data Pad 3 works on any difficulty. Right at the start, follow the right-hand canyon wall to a side path into a small cave. The pad lies against the cave's left wall, between rocks and shrubs. It is easy to walk past, so check before moving on.
▶Unsolved Mysteries
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 12Data Pad 12 — Nightfall, Legendary only: outcrop on the right side of the valley before the rock bridge; Sprint jump; play from mission start, not Rally Point Bravo.
On Legendary, play on until the Reach militia troopers are fighting the Covenant, then continue into the valley. Jump onto the rocks on the right of the valley entrance and hop along them, crossing a large gap with a Sprint jump. Data Pad 12 is on an outcrop on the right side of the valley just before the rock bridge where Jun and the troopers take cover from the Phantom. On the way back you can drop down to the stone bridge. Two alternative routes reach the same spot from below: follow the riverbed past the dam to a stone arch and climb it using a branch, or crouch-jump over the dam and across rock formations to a slanted wall. You do not need a jetpack.
▶I Need A Weapon
Complete Nightfall on any difficulty.
▶Now Just You Gúta Minute
Beat the 10:00 par time on Nightfall. This par is tight. Play on Easy, avoid fights, and use the forklift skip if you are short on time: when you reach the locked Stealth Pylon gate, park the forklift against the gate, exit through the gate, then sprint through the now-empty remaining section to the end of the mission.
▶Moon's Out, Goons Out
Beat the 7,500 par score on Nightfall with scoring turned on.
▶Mission 4: Tip of the Spear
▶Mind the Skill Gap
Zoom in on the large orange BXR mining company logo near the stairs before the second flight of stairs. Any scoped weapon works. The achievement unlocks when you view the logo.
▶Your Heresy Will Stay Your Feet
An Elite Zealot shows up as a red marker on a distant rooftop and flees after a short time. Snipe it before it escapes; the Needle Rifle is the usual recommendation. TrueAchievements flags this one as buggy, so if it does not unlock, try again on Easy, where the Zealot dies faster.
▶Rampant Speculation
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 4Data Pad 4 — Tip of the Spear, any difficulty: on a rack shelf behind UNSC crates in the Plasma Launcher room, reached through a roof hole near a red vat.
Data Pad 4 works on any difficulty. Inside the BXR mining facility, below the area where you are told to kill the Zealot, climb the western roof and drop through the hole near a red vat into the room with the Plasma Launcher and two health packs. Behind three UNSC crates on the opposite side of that room, the pad is on the second shelf of a rack.
▶Meddling and Madness
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 13Data Pad 13 — Tip of the Spear, Legendary only: on the destroyed overpass deck by a damaged Warthog at the second anti-aircraft cannon area.
On Legendary, at the second anti-aircraft cannon area, jump onto the broken concrete columns of the destroyed overpass (from a vehicle if needed) to reach the stranded deck. Data Pad 13 lies there beside a damaged Warthog and dead Army troopers.
▶To War
To War10G
Complete Tip of the Spear on any difficulty.
▶Generous Tipper
Beat the 15:00 par time on Tip of the Spear on Easy. This was the most-reported failed unlock at Reach's launch. If it does not unlock on a clearly sub-par run, replay the mission rather than assuming you missed it.
▶Bake That Cake
Beat the 30,000 par score on Tip of the Spear with scoring turned on.
▶Mission 5: Long Night of Solace
▶Minority Report
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 5Data Pad 5 — Long Night of Solace, any difficulty: in front of the control desk on the left, red-lit side of the Corvette-hologram control room.
Data Pad 5 works on any difficulty. In the Sabre launch facility's control room with the Corvette hologram, go up the left elevated area, lit red and orange. The pad is in front of the control desk beside a body.
▶Jorge Can't Have All the Big Guns
Use a Pelican's turret. In the hangar area, crouch at the Pelican's nose and hold the interact button until you enter the turret. The achievement unlocks when you are in the gun.
▶The Answer is Simple
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 14Data Pad 14 — Long Night of Solace, Legendary only: end of the grey diagonal pillar above the Sabre hangar, before boarding.
On Legendary, in the hangar holding the Sabre and before you board it: just before the yellow-outlined stairs, look left for a platform and jump onto it. Climb the grey scaffolding onto the grey diagonal pillar and follow it to the end, where Data Pad 14 lies. Precise crouch-jumps help.
▶Wake Up Buttercup
In the space section, destroy the Corvette's engines and its escort of Seraph fighters and Banshees within three minutes. This only counts on Heroic or Legendary, so do it on your solo Legendary run, or on a separate Heroic or co-op run if it fails. Reverting to a checkpoint resets the timer. Take out the engines first, then the Seraphs, then the Banshees.
▶You Flew Pretty Good
Complete Long Night of Solace on any difficulty.
▶Sabre Metrics
Beat the 25:00 par time on Long Night of Solace on Easy.
▶Insomnia
Insomnia10G
Beat the 45,000 par score on Long Night of Solace with scoring turned on.
▶Mission 6: Exodus
▶The Humble Beginnings of Wiljax Brantley
View the World Cuisine advertisement for Moa burgers. It is in the chapter The Devil His Due, after you first meet civilians and before you take the elevator to Traxus Tower. Zoom in on the advertisement until the achievement unlocks.
▶Info Dump
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 6Data Pad 6 — Exodus, any difficulty: on the dim catwalk of the construction platform above the doorway after the first jetpack flight; jetpack required.
Data Pad 6 works on any difficulty but needs the jetpack. After you take the jetpack and fly across the large area, you land in a combat zone. Before entering the building you are told to fly to the top of, look for the construction platform above its doorway; the pad is on that platform's dim catwalk beside a body.
▶Of Patience and Partiality
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 15Data Pad 15 — Exodus, Legendary only: on top of the right-hand vent above the zig-zag struts across from Traxus Tower; jetpack required.
On Legendary, in the large plaza across from Traxus Tower, pipes lead to zig-zagging struts directly across from the executive landing pad. Fly to the struts from the east side of the plaza (from the landing pad you can only nearly reach them), climb beam by beam with the jetpack to the pair of vent units at the top, and land on top of the right-hand vent for Data Pad 15. Landing on the vent takes patience.
▶Did You Major in Marine Bio?
From the anti-aircraft battery location near the end of the mission, travel out of bounds back to the area where you defended Army troopers from Brutes during the Falcon gunner section; the hidden Marines are along that route, by the cliffs of the horseshoe-shaped bay. Jetpack parkour works, but the Acrophobia skull lets you simply fly there. The achievement unlocks when you encounter them.
▶Classic Completion
Finish Exodus without using any armor ability. In Reach, sprint is an armor ability, so avoid sprint too. The jetpack section is the obstacle. The easiest method is co-op: your partner plays normally while you stay away from every armor ability and respawn on them past the jetpack sections. Solo players use gravity hammer jumps to cross. Do this on its own run, not your Legendary run.
Because this run forbids the jetpack, it cannot collect Data Pads 6 or 15; get those on another run.
▶Into The Howling Dark
Complete Exodus on any difficulty.
▶Quicker Than Reading the Book
Beat the 20:00 par time on Exodus on Easy.
▶Parting the Sea
Beat the 30,000 par score on Exodus with scoring turned on.
▶Mission 7: New Alexandria
New Alexandria has the most Easter eggs in Reach. Most of them use green switches around Club Errera, the nightclub in the city.
▶Curious Composition
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 16Data Pad 16 — New Alexandria, Legendary only: narrow ledge on the skyscraper behind the starting landing pad, around -100 altitude; starting Falcon required.
Do this first, in the Falcon you start with. On Legendary, Data Pad 16 is on the skyscraper directly behind the starting landing pad (to the south). Fly down its side until the HUD warns you to pull up, at around -100 to -125 on the altimeter. The pad is on a narrow ledge in the inset section, on the left at the end of the rail. Nose the Falcon onto the ledge and climb out without falling. If you lose the Falcon or fall, restart the mission.
▶No Picnic
No Picnic10G
Look for the grisly scene of bodies near the start of New Alexandria. It unlocks when you observe it.
▶Front Page News
Enter Club Errera. The achievement is reported to unlock when you go inside.
▶HBOrg Special
Hit the green switch on a lower ledge under the hospital landing pad, then return to Club Errera to find the Brute DJ. It unlocks when you party with him.
▶Play Us a Sad Song, Claude
Hit the green switch under the air-conditioning vents on the club roof, then return to the dance floor and listen. It unlocks when the hidden music cue plays.
▶Paper Trail
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 7Data Pad 7 — New Alexandria, any difficulty: north side of the wedge-shaped roof northwest of the Olympic Tower, next to a door; Falcon required.
Data Pad 7 works on any difficulty but needs a Falcon. Seven buildings ring the Olympic Tower (ONI headquarters); six have flat roofs with Shade turrets, and the seventh, northwest of the tower, has a large wedge shape covering most of its roof. Land the Falcon on that roof: the pad is on the north side, the side with five vent units, next to a door.
▶New Ways to Save a Buck
Buck radios in asking for a Falcon escort. That side objective is randomized, so it does not appear on every run. Larger co-op groups get more side objectives per cycle. If it does not appear, replay New Alexandria; the Easy and scoring runs give you more chances.
▶I Didn't Train To Be A Pilot
Destroy three of the anti-aircraft batteries. This normally happens during the final objective.
▶We're Gonna Need a Bigger Ship
Fly both the Pelican and the Phantom. Near the end, a jetpack user hits the green ceiling switch to the left of Club Errera, then flies through the ring-shaped building opening. TrueAchievements lists this as co-op, and it was among the launch-era unlock failure reports. Do it with a partner on any difficulty.
▶Dust And Echoes
Complete New Alexandria on any difficulty.
▶One For the Record Books
Beat the 20:00 par time on New Alexandria on Easy.
▶Nine Lives Are a Myth
Beat the 20,000 par score on New Alexandria with scoring turned on.
▶Mission 8: The Package
▶Terminal Conditions
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 8Data Pad 8 — The Package, any difficulty: on the floor left of the door control in the red-lit Sword Base atrium; take it before pressing the switch.
Data Pad 8 works on any difficulty. Inside Sword Base, in the red-lit main atrium with cloaked Spec Ops Elites, the pad is on the floor immediately left of the door control that your squad activates. Pick it up before you press the switch, because the switch triggers a cutscene.
▶Silent Shepherds
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 17Data Pad 17 — The Package, Legendary only: rock ledge under the bridge southeast of Wolf Spider turret C; jetpack from outside Halsey's lab.
On Legendary, take a jetpack outside Dr. Halsey's lab (the jetpacks stand along the wall and are not highlighted). Fly southeast from the Wolf Spider turret marked C toward a cliff face. On its right side, a small rock ledge under the bridge holds Data Pad 17. Start with a full charge and feather the jetpack in short bursts to cross the gap.
▶Tank Beats Everything
Finish The Package on Legendary with your Scorpion still intact. The achievement checks when you reach the Enter Sword Base objective. Snipe the anti-aircraft guns and Shades from range, and pull back to safety whenever the Scorpion starts smoking. This is part of the Legendary run, but restart the mission if the tank is destroyed.
▶Swift and Shallow
Hijack any Banshee in the Reach campaign. The most reliable method is on The Package at Rally Point Bravo: disable a Banshee with an EMP (an overcharged plasma pistol shot) and hijack it while it is incapacitated. Jetpack-jumping onto a passing Banshee from the hospital roof on New Alexandria is an alternative.
▶Fly, You Fools!
This needs two players. Get a Ghost and push the wooden crate at the dock. One player drops into the water (a 10-second timer starts) and hits the green switch at the base of the rocks. The partner then hits the second switch that briefly appears on the wooden wall. Four Banshees spawn on the starting building and the achievement unlocks.
▶This is Not the Greatest Lab in the World…
After defending Halsey's building, jetpack to the far platform and hover-press the hidden switch. Kill the sword-wielding Elites that appear, then enter Halsey's lab. The achievement unlocks when you get inside. No difficulty requirement is confirmed.
▶This Is Not Your Grave
Complete The Package on any difficulty.
▶Speedy Delivery
Beat the 20:00 par time on The Package on Easy.
▶How Did I Lose All My Fingers?
Beat the 65,000 par score on The Package with scoring turned on. This is the highest Reach par score, so use your best skull setup.
▶Mission 9: The Pillar of Autumn
▶Assembled the Majority

No. 18Data Pad 18 — The Pillar of Autumn, Legendary only: roof of the Boneyard garage building at Rally Point Alpha.
On Legendary, Data Pad 18 is in the shipbreaking yard that becomes the multiplayer map Boneyard (Rally Point Alpha), on the roof of the garage building where the Scorpion spawns in Invasion. Cross the walkway over the battlefield, go up the ramp, and jump through the gap in the steel-beam barrier on the right (or off a jumpable barrier) onto the rooftop. The pad is around its south corner. Sprint jumps make it easier.
▶Digital Destinies
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 9Data Pad 9 — The Pillar of Autumn, any difficulty: far-left corner of the second office room after the Boneyard area, through a broken window.
Data Pad 9 works on any difficulty. After the Boneyard area, head back inside. Past two dead troopers in a corridor, keep right to find two windows looking into two rooms. Break the window of the second room and crouch-jump in. The pad is in the far-left corner, on a table and a pile of cardboard boxes.
▶Collection Eligibility Confirmed
In the final cutscene, during the shuttle docking flyby, hold right on the D-pad or look right to see John-117 in cryo. The achievement unlocks when you spot him.
▶Send Me Out... With A Bang
Complete The Pillar of Autumn on any difficulty.
▶Wait, How'd the Ship Get Down Here?
Beat the 20:00 par time on The Pillar of Autumn on Easy.
▶Precious Cargo
Beat the 25,000 par score on The Pillar of Autumn with scoring turned on.
▶Lone Wolf
Lone Wolf is endless and ends when you die. Your score is banked when the mission ends.
▶Yes No You Decide
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
No. 19Data Pad 19 — Lone Wolf, Legendary only: inside the large pipe beside the ramp to the right of the start.
On Legendary, to the right of the start a ramp leads up beside a large pipe, where a dead Spartan and a sniper rifle lie on metal planks. Data Pad 19 is inside the pipe behind a metal fence, and it can still be picked up. Grab it right away, before the waves build up.
▶Because It Wasn't Hard Enough
Complete any Legendary mission with three or more skulls enabled and campaign scoring on. Cowbell, Grunt Birthday Party, and IWHBYD do not count toward the three. Lone Wolf is the shortest way to do it, because it counts as complete when you die: start Legendary Lone Wolf with scoring on and three qualifying skulls (for example Catch, Famine, and Thunderstorm), grab Data Pad 19, and fight until you fall.
▶Left Behind
Left Behind10G
Reach 30,000 points on Lone Wolf. This will come with One Final Firefight.
▶One Final Firefight
Reach 150,000 points on Lone Wolf. Use Easy with campaign scoring on and as many skulls as possible except Blind, Cowbell, and Mythic. Stay under the turrets so only a few enemies engage at once, chain assassinations, and use the sword or plasma pistol. Expect an hour or more. Both score achievements unlock as your score passes the thresholds and is banked at the end.
▶Reach Campaign-Wide Achievements
▶Welcome to Reach
Complete every Reach level on Easy or higher. This unlocks with your Legendary sweep.
▶The Soldier We Need You To Be
Complete every Reach level on Normal or higher. This unlocks with your Legendary sweep.
▶Folks Need Heroes…
Complete every Reach level on Heroic or higher. This unlocks with your Legendary sweep.
▶Gods Must Be Strong
Complete every Reach level on Legendary. Co-op is allowed for this one, but your solo run covers it.
▶A Monument To All Your Sins
Complete every Reach level on Legendary by yourself. Include Lone Wolf, which counts as complete when you die. This is the reason the route plays Reach solo on Legendary.
▶Keep Your Foot on the Pedrogas
Complete all Reach Legendary missions in under three hours total. The total is your best Legendary time on each mission added together, solo or co-op, so you only need to improve your slowest missions. Check your best times in the Career menu. The par times add up to 2:35, so hitting par on Legendary leaves a buffer. Co-op speedruns and the known Nightfall skip help.
▶Fast Fall
Fast Fall20G
Beat par time on all nine Reach story missions. It unlocks after the ninth par time.
▶We'll Be Back
Beat par score on all nine Reach story missions. It unlocks after the ninth par score.
▶Canonical Conundrum
Collect all 19 data pads. Each pad's achievement unlocks when you pick it up, and the per-pad achievements are your tracker; the game has no in-world marker for them. If you are missing one, replay its mission on a difficulty that spawns it (Legendary for pads 10 to 19) and pick it up again. The full list is in the Collectibles section at the end of this guide.
▶T'vaoan Terminator
Kill 100 Skirmishers. These fast Jackal-like enemies appear throughout the Reach campaign and in Reach Firefight. This should unlock naturally during the campaign.
▶Chol Von's Not Gonna Like This
Kill 1,000 Skirmishers. You will be short after the campaign. Finish it in a solo custom Firefight with Skirmisher-heavy waves, which also helps your other kill counters.
▶Reach Playlists
Reach's mission playlists are under Campaign, then Playlists. The themed short playlists are reported to run on Normal with no skulls. The shortest are First to the Fight and Off Your Feet (checkpoint segments) plus any three-mission playlist such as Got Your Back, Noble Team Doubles, or Self-Preservation.
▶Reach Has Been Good to Me
Complete any one Halo: Reach playlist.
▶Who Needs Red Flag?
Complete three Halo: Reach playlists. Use three different short playlists. The LASO playlist also counts if you finish it first.
▶Why Do This To Yourself?
Complete the Halo: Reach LASO Campaign playlist: every Reach mission on Legendary with the playlist's forced skull set, including Iron and Black Eye. Co-op is allowed, and progress saves between missions. Bring the best partners you can, play carefully, and use the save-and-quit menu before a death would cost you a long stretch. This is the hardest achievement in the Reach list.
▶Reach Firefight, Forge, and Multiplayer
These all start from the Halo: Reach multiplayer and Firefight menus. MCC has no bots, so the two player-versus-player achievements below need a second human; on Xbox, a split-screen guest in a custom game is the simplest option.
▶Enemies Everywhere!
Complete one Firefight set on Normal or higher. A solo custom Firefight works.
▶Workers' Compensation
Splatter an enemy with a forklift. The easiest method is a custom Firefight on Courtyard with the Gruntpocalypse setting and a starting Gravity Hammer. Hit the forklift with the hammer so it slides into Grunts.
▶Easy to Overlook
Listen to the hidden UNSC radio chatter on a Firefight or multiplayer map. Campaign radios do not count. The easiest spot is a solo custom Firefight on Overlook: go to the upper floor at the back of the main base and stand by the radio until it plays.
▶Confused Callouts
Load a solo custom game on Boardwalk and stand at the "Make Out Point" callout location until the humorous callout shows on your HUD.
▶Capacious Cartography
Open Forge, select Forge World, and save any map variant. If you did this during First Session Setup, it is already done.
▶Requiescat in Pace
Complete 10 assassinations on enemy players. Custom games count. Start a custom Slayer game with a split-screen guest or a friend on the enemy team and assassinate them from behind 10 times.
▶Run and Gunned
Headshot 10 enemy players while they are sprinting (Headcase medals). Custom games count. Use a SWAT-style custom game with a second player who sprints back and forth while you take headshots.
▶Game Breaker
Game Breaker10G
Kill 10 enemies while using a jetpack. Current achievement guidance documents both custom games and Firefight as working, so no matchmaking is needed. The easiest method is a solo custom Firefight with a jetpack loadout: hover with the jetpack active and kill 10 enemies while airborne. A custom game against your second player with jetpack loadouts also works.
▶Negative, Ghostrider
Earn a Skullamanjaro medal in a matchmade Headhunter game by personally banking 10 skulls at once. Since the 2023 matchmaking changes, Team Headhunter no longer produces the medal, so use the 8-player free-for-all route: choose the 8-player FFA option, select Halo: Reach, then Asset Denial, and Headhunter. Collect 10 skulls without dying and bank them all in one deposit. Because the playlist is quiet, the practical method is boosting: two parties of four players (or four controllers each) search at the same time so they match into the same lobby, then take turns feeding skulls to one player. This must be matchmaking, and there are documented unlocks in 2026.
▶Skunked
Skunked10G
Win a matchmade game of Invasion as the defenders during the first phase. Invasion lives in the ranked/competitive category, and players have called it a dead playlist since 2023. Organized boosting is the realistic route: as of 2025, groups such as the Halo Syndicate Discord ran scheduled Saturday sessions for Invasion. Coordinate a full lobby, defend the first phase for the full timer, and the achievement unlocks on the win. One player warned that organized boosting could risk penalties, so use your judgment. This is the achievement most at risk if Reach population drops further, so do it early.
▶Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
▶CE Plan and Difficulty
Play each mission on Legendary first, solo or in two-player co-op. Living Legend covers Heroic, Normal, and Easy, and co-op is allowed. Collect the terminals and skulls on the same run, but keep the game in remastered graphics while you do: CE skulls only count in remastered mode, and the terminals cannot be accessed in classic mode. Keyes has no skull.
Before and After needs every level completed having seen both graphics modes. Press the graphics toggle for a second at some point in every mission you play and it will come naturally.
Par times work on any difficulty, so use Easy. Par scores need scoring on and a run from the start of the mission; Legendary's multiplier plus a few score skulls is the standard approach.
▶Mission 1: The Pillar of Autumn
▶Skulltaker Halo: CE: Iron
Right after the cryo tutorial, check the back of the cryo deck behind the stacked crates. The achievement unlocks when you pick up the skull.
▶My Buddy Chips
Fight alongside the Marine Chips Dubbo while he talks. His escort to the bridge does not count; it unlocks once you are in combat with him and his line plays. This normally happens without trying.
▶Arrival
Arrival5G
Terminal 1 is a console on the left side of the Autumn's bridge with a flashing red "INCOMING MESSAGE". Activate it before you leave the bridge area. This terminal is often missed because it is so early.
▶Overshields are for Sissies
Complete The Pillar of Autumn on Legendary without picking up an overshield. Do this on your Legendary run alongside Walk It Off.
▶Walk It Off
Walk It Off10G
Complete The Pillar of Autumn on Legendary without picking up a health kit. Health kits usually sit on the right side of doorways, so hug the left. Dying does not void it, but a checkpoint revert after picking up a kit does not undo the pickup; restart the mission if you grab one.
▶Pillar of Autumn
Complete The Pillar of Autumn on any difficulty.
▶Megg
Megg10G
This is a Legendary Easter egg. Do it on a separate Legendary run so it does not interfere with Walk It Off. After cryo, crouch-jump onto the yellow canister behind you and drop back down. Go to the bridge and trigger the Keyes cutscene, collect the pistol and an assault rifle, and return to the bridge. Kill Keyes and the bridge crew; invincible Marines spawn from a locked door. When Cortana says the Master Chief has gone rampant, a second door unlocks. Hold the Marines back, rush through that second door, and look up at the ceiling with your flashlight for the blood heart. The achievement unlocks when you view it. These steps come from the original game's Easter egg; whether MCC also requires classic or remastered graphics is not documented, so try remastered first and repeat in classic if it does not unlock.
▶Feet Firmly Planted
Complete any CE level without jumping. The Pillar of Autumn is the recommended level: walk into the sloped pipes instead of jumping over them. 343 Guilty Spark cannot be done because it has mandatory jumps. On PC, the cutscene-skip key counts as a jump, and Xbox behavior is not documented, so do this on a run where you do not skip cutscenes, such as your scoring run, unless you are sure your skip button is not your jump button.
▶Didn't Like This Ship Anyways
Beat the 15:00 par time on The Pillar of Autumn. Easy is fine.
▶Pillar of Awesome
Beat the 17,000 par score on The Pillar of Autumn. Use Legendary with Boom and Piñata, and melee Elites in the dining hall for extra plasma grenades.
▶He's Unstoppable
Complete any level on Heroic or higher without taking health damage. Shield damage is fine. A short level such as The Pillar of Autumn on Heroic is the easiest choice. Revert to the last checkpoint whenever your health is hit. You can do this on any CE mission, so if your Legendary run of a short level goes cleanly, it may unlock there.
▶Mission 2: Halo
▶Skulltaker Halo: CE: Mythic
At the start of the level, near the waterfall, the skull is behind the large boulder on the right in the water.
▶No-Fly Zone
No-Fly Zone10G
Personally destroy three of the four Banshees on Halo in one playthrough. Kills by your Warthog gunner do not count. Two Banshees attack right at the start: damage both with the pistol until they smoke and finish them before they fly away, then get one more later.
▶Skulltaker Halo: CE: Boom
Above the entrance to the underground facility, look up for pipes. Walk along the cliff edge and jump onto the pipe mesh to reach the skull.
▶Sacrifice
Terminal 2 is in a small alcove off the main underground tunnel route. Drive past the jump to the far end of the alcove.
▶Airborne
Airborne10G
Launch a Warthog so it stays in the air for at least five seconds and splatters an enemy before landing, without the driver being thrown out. The most reliable method is using a Ghost as a ramp and adding a grenade under the Warthog. It works on any level with Warthogs; Halo is the first good opportunity.
▶How Pedestrian
Complete Halo without entering any vehicle. Grenade-jump the large gap near the start of the underground tunnel section, or turn on the Acrophobia skull. This adds 20 to 30 minutes, so do it on a separate Easy run rather than your Legendary run.
▶Halo
Halo10G
Complete Halo on any difficulty.
▶Flyover Country
Beat the 20:00 par time on Halo. Drive between rescue sites and do not wait for every Marine group.
▶Giant Hula Hoop
Beat the 12,000 par score on Halo.
▶Mission 3: The Truth and Reconciliation
▶All According to Plan...
Kill the first group of enemies (Grunts, Jackals, and one Elite) without being detected. Easy makes one-shot sniper kills possible. Stay behind the rocks and do not lean out. Classic graphics make enemies easier to see in the dark, but toggle back before collecting anything.
▶You Are The Weapon
Kill a Hunter with a single pistol round. Shoot the orange flesh exposed on its back or neck. The first Hunters appear on this mission and on The Silent Cartographer. Easy makes the shot more forgiving.
▶Skulltaker Halo: CE: Foreign
The skull is in the bottom-floor hallway that the Hunters exit from into the hangar.
▶Splinters
Terminal 3 is on the ship's bridge, in the middle of the front holographic displays, in a section marked in red.
▶Close Quarters Combat
Complete The Truth and Reconciliation with at least four rounds left in your sniper rifle. Keep the sniper rifle all mission and refill from the ammo caches in the brig area and outside the bridge. The Bandanna skull (infinite ammo) removes the problem entirely.
▶Truth and Reconciliation
Complete The Truth and Reconciliation on any difficulty.
▶You Can't Handle the Truth
Beat the 20:00 par time on The Truth and Reconciliation.
▶You Really Can't Handle the Truth
Beat the 19,000 par score on The Truth and Reconciliation.
▶Mission 4: The Silent Cartographer
▶Beachhead
Beachhead10G
Clear the opening beach landing on Heroic or Legendary with no Marine deaths. Push ahead of the Marines to draw fire, grenade enemies behind cover, and keep Marines away from Elites with plasma grenades. Revert the checkpoint if a Marine dies.
▶Skulltaker Halo: CE: Famine
The skull sits on a hilltop between three bushes.
▶Idle Hands
Terminal 4 is against the structure with the Marathon symbol near the middle of the island, where the first pair of Hunters appears, beneath the bridge.
▶Skulltaker Halo: CE: Bandana
At the end of the tunnel, the skull is on the ceiling of the security console chamber. Reach it with a grenade or rocket jump. In co-op, one player can crouch on the window strip in the tunnel below while the other respawns on top of them to grab it.
▶Pacifist
Pacifist10G
Complete The Silent Cartographer without shooting, throwing grenades, meleeing, dying, or restarting. Play on Easy and do this on its own run. Halopedia says both players must obey the restrictions in co-op, so do it solo.
▶The Silent Cartographer
Complete The Silent Cartographer on any difficulty.
▶Hit The Beach
Beat the 15:00 par time on The Silent Cartographer.
▶Charted
Charted10G
Beat the 18,000 par score on The Silent Cartographer.
▶Mission 5: Assault on the Control Room
▶Skulltaker Halo: CE: Malfunction
The skull is on a pipe protruding from the gorge walls.
▶Skulltaker Halo: CE: Fog
The skull is on a raised platform in the middle of a fog-filled room.
▶Wraith Hunter
Destroy four Wraiths with the Scorpion. Run past the first Wraith to get the Scorpion, then kill the Wraiths along the route. The last one is on the frozen lake before the Marine group.
▶Hitchhikers May Be Escaping Convicts
Terminal 5 is at the bottom of a pit in front of the Control Room structure, under a diagonal strut.
▶Madrigal Debut
At the end of the level, take a Banshee to the tower above the Control Room entrance. Land on the second of the three brackets, face the cliff, and move right to the end of the bracket just before it slopes down. The achievement unlocks when the hidden music cue plays.
▶Assault on the Control Room
Complete Assault on the Control Room on any difficulty.
▶Would It've Killed You To Take The Elevator
Beat the 15:00 par time on Assault on the Control Room. Use the corner-ride trick down the canyon walls at the first bridge, or hijack the Banshee at the first bridge, which only appears on Heroic and Legendary.
▶Vetro Strike
Vetro Strike10G
Beat the 18,000 par score on Assault on the Control Room.
▶Mission 6: 343 Guilty Spark
▶Get Me Out of Here!
At the very start, while you are still in the Pelican, throw a frag grenade out of it. You stay aboard as it flies off, and the achievement unlocks after a few seconds.
▶Skulltaker Halo: CE: Recession
The skull is in a small drop behind the Shade turret on the left side of the facility.
▶Bearly Contained
Terminal 6 is above a doorway that you pass while riding the third elevator. You get only one jump attempt per run, so look for the doorway as the lift descends and jump into it. If you miss, restart the mission.
▶343 Guilty Spark
Complete 343 Guilty Spark on any difficulty.
▶Lightning in a Bottle
Beat the 15:00 par time on 343 Guilty Spark.
▶Circuit Breaker
Beat the 17,000 par score on 343 Guilty Spark.
▶Mission 7: The Library
▶Skulltaker Halo: CE: Black Eye
The skull is at the back of a vent shortly before the Index chamber. A grenade jump gets you in.
▶Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Terminal 7 is on the third floor, opposite the Index chamber. Jump the low barriers across the chasm to reach the flashing yellow panel.
▶Skulltaker Halo: CE: Eye Patch
The skull sits on the ground right behind the Index on the final platform.
▶That Just Happened
Complete The Library on Heroic or Legendary without dying. Checkpoint reverts do not count as deaths, so revert whenever things go wrong. The Bandanna skull helps; carry the pistol and shotgun and run past spawns at the elevators.
▶The Library
The Library10G
Complete The Library on any difficulty.
▶TLDR
TLDR10G
Beat the 25:00 par time on The Library.
▶Reading Room
Reading Room10G
Beat the 25,000 par score on The Library. Use Legendary with Catch, Thunderstorm, Piñata, and Boom, avoid deaths, and stay away from carrier forms.
▶Mission 8: Two Betrayals
▶Memories
Memories5G
Terminal 8 is in the opening control room, across from the central console.
▶Skulltaker Halo: CE: Pinata
After the final Wraith fight, take a Banshee to the top of the underground entrance to find the skull.
▶Look Out for the Little Guys
Complete Two Betrayals on Legendary without killing any Grunts. In MCC this needs Legendary. The co-op cheese: your partner does all the fighting, including every Grunt kill, while you stay out of the way and respawn on them. The player who never kills a Grunt earns it.
▶Leave It Where It Lay
Complete Two Betrayals on Legendary without picking up a new weapon. The same co-op method earns both on one run. Solo players should use the Bandanna skull so they never need to change weapons.
▶Two Betrayals
Complete Two Betrayals on any difficulty.
▶Whistle Stop Tour
Beat the 20:00 par time on Two Betrayals.
▶It Was Inevitable
Beat the 16,000 par score on Two Betrayals.
▶Mission 9: Keyes
▶No Smoking
On the Truth and Reconciliation's bridge, look at Keyes' pipe hanging from a tendril attached to him on the central platform.
▶Mind Games
After the Keyes scene, Terminal 9 is in the sunken crevice beside the raised platform, on the red panel on the right wall of the crevice.
▶Tying Up Loose Ends
Kill every Elite on Keyes on Heroic or Legendary. Halopedia estimates around 30 to 35 Elites, but treat that as approximate. Easy-to-miss Elites fall into the coolant pools below, man the Shade turrets, or sit on second floors. Check below before moving on each time. This is not compatible with the skip used for the par time, so do it on your Legendary run.
▶Keyes
Keyes10G
Complete Keyes on any difficulty.
▶Scurty Bump
Scurty Bump10G
Beat the 15:00 par time on Keyes. The standard route uses a Flood bump or a shield bump past the first wall to reach the bridge early.
▶Headstrong
Headstrong10G
Beat the 20,000 par score on Keyes.
▶Mission 10: The Maw
▶Kilotons of Fun
Terminal 10 is a wall-mounted screen on the second floor of the cryo bay, where Sentinels fight the Flood.
▶Skulltaker Halo: CE: Grunt Birthday Party
During the Warthog run, the skull is on the railing or beam where Foehammer goes down.
▶Thirsty Grunt
On the Warthog run after the bridge where Foehammer is shot down, keep right to a small side tunnel. Use the first (right) entrance or the Grunt will not spawn. Listen until he finishes his line.
▶T-Rex
T-Rex10G
At the big Warthog jump with the free fall, drive to the right so you land on the side of the floating platform. Enter the corridor and look right to see "Rex" written in blood.
▶This Side Up
This Side Up10G
Finish the Warthog run without being forcibly ejected from your vehicle. Reload the checkpoint if you flip. In co-op, the player who stays behind while the other drives earns it even if the driver flips.
▶The Maw
The Maw10G
Complete The Maw on any difficulty.
▶All You Can Eat
Beat the 15:00 par time on The Maw.
▶Consumption Junction
Beat the 18,000 par score on The Maw.
▶CE Campaign-Wide Achievements
▶Greenhorn
Greenhorn10G
Complete every CE level on Easy or higher. This comes with the Legendary sweep.
▶Birth of a Spartan
Complete every CE level on Normal or higher. This comes with the Legendary sweep.
▶Believe in a Hero
Complete every CE level on Heroic or higher. This comes with the Legendary sweep.
▶Living Legend
Complete every CE level on Legendary, solo or co-op.
▶Did Somebody Say...
Beat par time on all ten CE levels. It unlocks after the tenth.
▶Overachiever
Overachiever20G
Beat par score on all ten CE levels. It unlocks after the tenth.
▶Dear Diary...
Activate all ten CE terminals. If one is missing, replay its mission in remastered mode and use the Save and Quit workaround if it will not activate.
▶Headhunter
Headhunter20G
Claim all 13 CE skulls in remastered mode.
▶Before and After
Complete every CE level having seen it in both classic and remastered graphics. If you toggled during each mission, this unlocks after the tenth level. If not, replay any missing level, toggle once, and finish it.
▶Goat Roped
Goat Roped30G
Complete all CE Legendary missions in under three hours total. Your best Legendary time on each level counts, solo or co-op, and runs can be mixed. Check your times in the Career menu and replay the slowest missions. The per-level par times add up to 2:55, so par pace on Legendary leaves only about five minutes of buffer; beat par wherever you can. Use the Assault on the Control Room Banshee or corner-ride skip and the Keyes bump. This is one of the harder speedrun achievements in MCC; co-op makes it much easier.
▶CE Playlists
CE mission playlists are under Campaign, then Playlists. The short three- and four-mission options include Vehicle Playground, Daring Escapes, and A New Threat, all on Normal. Co-op is supported and progress saves between sessions.
▶A Fine Choice
Complete any Halo: CE playlist.
▶Excellent Taste
Complete three Halo: CE playlists. Vehicle Playground, Daring Escapes, and A New Threat are the quickest trio.
▶Like a Fine Wine
Complete the Halo: CE LASO Campaign playlist: all ten missions on Legendary with twelve forced skulls, including Iron and Grunt Funeral (Bandanna and Piñata are not included). Two-player co-op is supported and progress saves between sessions. With Iron in solo, a death restarts the whole mission; in co-op it reverts to the last checkpoint, which is why co-op is the standard approach. Solo players pause and Save and Quit before a death becomes certain to resume from the checkpoint. Halo Support advises skipping terminals during LASO because of the terminal bug. With Grunt Funeral and Boom active, beware lingering grenades; wait for them to go off before advancing.
▶CE Multiplayer
▶Back In The Day
Play a CTF custom game on Blood Gulch with four players. The original version required all four on one console; the current description dropped that wording, but split-screen players still count. Four controllers with guest profiles on one Xbox is the simplest option. The match only needs to be completed.
▶Sightseeing
Sightseeing10G
Complete a match on eight different classic CE multiplayer maps. Matchmade and custom games both count. Load a solo custom game with a low score limit on each map and end the game from the pause menu so the post-game carnage report shows. Quitting out does not count as completing a match.
▶Checking Out Your Options
Complete a match in four different CE game types. Use the same solo custom-game method, rotating game types.
▶Halo 2 Anniversary
▶Halo 2 Plan and Difficulty
Halo 2 has the largest list in the collection and the toughest Legendary. Plan on a full Legendary pass, because all but one Halo 2 skull require Legendary. Co-op is allowed for the Legendary sweep, but one skull (IWHBYD) and one Easter egg (Rex Sword) do not spawn in co-op, so either do those solo or play the whole pass solo. Monopolized is safest with solo times, so a solo pass also sets up that achievement.
Graphics mode matters for several items:
- The eight hidden toys only appear in remastered graphics.
- E E E only works in remastered graphics.
- He's Running a Marathon... only works in classic graphics.
- Tighten Up The Graphics needs every level completed having seen both modes. A one-second toggle per level is enough, so make it a habit.
Useful skulls: Bandanna (infinite ammo and grenades), Acrophobia (free flight), and Sputnik (bigger explosion knockback for grenade jumps). Turn the Scarab skull off for Tartarus at the end of The Great Journey, because he is immune to splash damage. Turning skulls on does not block ordinary Halo 2 achievements, but avoid any skull with a x0.00 multiplier warning on Legendary sweep runs (see Legend).
Par times work on any difficulty; most are 15:00, which makes Halo 2 the longest par-time set in MCC. Par scores need a run from the mission start with scoring on. Halo 2 has two short cutscene-style missions, The Heretic and The Armory. They have no completion achievements, but The Heretic is the cheese level for several "complete a level" achievements and The Armory holds a skull.
▶The Heretic
The Heretic is essentially a cutscene with a very short fight, which makes it the fastest level for any achievement that only asks you to complete a level under certain conditions. It is not confirmed whether The Heretic and The Armory are required for the Halo 2 difficulty achievements, so also finish both on Legendary while you are here. It takes minutes.
▶Starved For Shields
Complete a level on Heroic or Legendary with only the Streaking skull active. Load The Heretic on Heroic, turn on Streaking and nothing else, and finish it.
▶Demon
Demon10G
Complete any campaign level on Normal or harder without dying. Your Heroic Heretic run for Starved For Shields unlocks this too if you do not die; otherwise The Heretic on Normal is the easiest choice.
▶Like Peanut Butter and Chocolate
Complete a level in co-op on Heroic or Legendary with the Masterblaster skull active. Masterblaster gives one player an overshield with melee only and the other no shields with infinite ammo, swapping after kills. Try The Heretic first with your co-op partner. It is not confirmed that The Heretic counts for this one; if it does not unlock, use a short real mission such as Cairo Station.
▶The Armory
▶Skulltaker Halo 2: That's Just…Wrong
On Legendary, play The Armory and wait about 4:40 to 5:00 at the start until Johnson's line plays. The skull then appears on crates during the tram ride. It unlocks when you pick it up.
▶Mission 1: Cairo Station
▶Curious
Curious5G
Terminal 1 is in Armory A-01, on the wall to the left of the Commons B-01 doors.
▶THE Chips Dubbo?
Find Marine Chips Dubbo on Cairo Station and fight beside him until his line plays. He also appears on Outskirts if you miss him here.
▶Skulltaker Halo 2: Thunderstorm
On Legendary, the skull is behind a displaced trash can on a high platform.
▶Cairo Station
Complete Cairo Station on any difficulty.
▶The Return of Megg
This needs its own run. Play Cairo Station on Legendary with the Thunderstorm skull on and take no damage at all. When you reach the final bomb room, a PA message plays and the achievement unlocks. If you take damage, revert to the last checkpoint. If a checkpoint saves after you were damaged, restart the mission. The usual setup adds Envy (active camouflage) and Black Eye, and Scarab for more firepower; watch out for your own splash damage.
▶Don't Hangar Around
Beat the 15:00 par time on Cairo Station.
▶Bomb Squad
Bomb Squad10G
Beat the 14,000 par score on Cairo Station. This is one of the harder Halo 2 scores, so use Legendary with score skulls and avoid deaths.
▶Mission 2: Outskirts
▶Skulltaker Halo 2: Blind
This is the only Halo 2 skull that works on any difficulty. It is between buildings near a stash of grenades and a scoped weapon.
▶Inquisitive
Terminal 2 is on the ground floor of the small beach building before the highway tunnels.
▶Betcha can't stick it...
Stick a plasma grenade to one of the two Stealth Elites in Sniper Alley. They only appear on Heroic and Legendary, so this belongs on the Legendary run. Reload the checkpoint if you miss.
▶Skulltaker Halo 2: IWHBYD
In a side room of Sniper Alley on Legendary. This skull only spawns in solo play, and its roughly one-in-seven spawn chance is rolled when the game loads Sniper Alley. Reach the checkpoint before Sniper Alley, then go to the skull room without triggering any further checkpoint. If the skull is not there, revert to that checkpoint to re-roll (or restart the mission). Elite waves follow the pickup, but you do not need to kill them.
▶Rex Sword
Rex Sword10G
Grab the energy sword stuck in the ground next to the word REX and a pool of blood (REX is spelled in rocks in classic graphics and in shotgun shells in remastered graphics). It works on any difficulty with no skulls, but the Easter egg does not appear in co-op and does not spawn on every load, for reasons nobody has documented. Do it solo on the same Easy run as Rooftop Runner, because the sword building sits on the rooftop path to Hotel Zanzibar, and keep it separate from your Legendary IWHBYD run, which fights through Sniper Alley at street level.
- Leave the opening room with the crashed Pelican and crouch-jump onto the door frame, then up to the higher platform where the sky opens. Use a grenade jump if the crouch-jump will not reach; the Sputnik skull makes grenade jumps easier.
- Cross the rooftops toward Hotel Zanzibar. If you fall early in this stretch, the crates let you climb back up.
- Where the roofs run out, drop onto the highway, cross it, and climb back onto the buildings on the other side.
- When two ramps appear, take the upward one. The downward ramp drops you off the roofs, and you will have to restart.
- Find the building with two metal vents beside it and a large chunk missing from its roof. Drop through the hole into the top-floor room and pick up the sword. The achievement unlocks on pickup.
If the room is empty, the egg did not spawn on this load; restart the mission from mission select and try again. An Ultra Elite from the hotel area may come after you once you take the sword, so make sure the achievement has popped before you fight. A video of the jump sequence can help, but the landmarks above are enough. From the sword room you can continue across the rooftops to Hotel Zanzibar for the par time.

Beat the 9,000 par score on Uprising.

Complete every Halo 2 level having seen it in both classic and remastered graphics. Replay any level you never toggled in and press the toggle once.
▶Monopolized
Monopolized30G
Complete all Halo 2 Legendary missions in under three hours total. Like the other speedrun achievements, this adds up your best Legendary time on each mission. Sources disagree on one point: Halopedia says solo or co-op times count, but the TrueAchievements solution and a Steam thread running from 2020 to 2025 say every Legendary mission must also be completed solo, and one co-op pair reported no unlock. Safest route: run the missions solo. Unlocks have also been reported as delayed, sometimes by hours, so check your total in the Career menu before redoing anything. The par times add up to about 3:30, more than the three-hour limit, so you need to beat par pace on Legendary. Regret and Gravemind are the hardest, and this is one of the rarest achievements in MCC.
▶Halo 2 Playlists
The Halo 2 mission playlists include Boss Fights (3 missions), Fan Favorites (4 missions), Arbiter's Journey, Master Chief's Journey, the full-campaign difficulty playlists, and LASO.
▶Seconds
Seconds10G
Complete any Halo 2 playlist.
▶Connoisseur
Connoisseur20G
Complete three Halo 2 playlists. Boss Fights and Fan Favorites are the two shortest; add any third, or count LASO if you finish it first.
▶Back for More
Complete the Halo 2 LASO Campaign playlist: every Halo 2 mission on Legendary with fourteen forced skulls (Envy is not included). It must be done through the playlist; turning on the skulls yourself does not count. Co-op is supported and progress saves between sessions. This is widely considered the hardest LASO playlist in MCC, so bring a reliable partner and use Save and Quit before a death would cost you progress.
▶Halo 2 Classic Multiplayer
These achievements use the classic Halo 2 multiplayer maps, not the Anniversary remakes. A solo custom game on each map is enough to explore. To complete a match, end the game from the pause menu so the post-game carnage report shows.
▶Siege of Ivory Tower
On classic Ivory Tower, stand by the gate near the elevator and wait until the hidden music cue plays. The wait time is not documented, so be patient.
▶Why So Serious
On classic Coagulation, look at the smiling face on one of the three rocks outside Red Base.
▶Sid Graffiti
On classic Coagulation, find the "Not Sid" graffiti in the watery cave, on the upper level overlooking the pool.
▶Why Am I Here?
On classic Beaver Creek, view the hidden message behind small rocks near the top of the map, above the sniper rifle spawn.
▶Animal Habitat
On classic Headlong, spot the hippo paintings on the walls of the central building under construction.
▶Destination Vacation
On classic Zanzibar, view one of the seasonal signs. These only appear on 1 January, 7 July, 31 October, and 25 December. Load a custom game on Zanzibar on one of those dates. Changing the console date while offline, viewing the sign, and reconnecting is commonly suggested, but it is not confirmed; playing on the real date is the safe method.
▶Tourist
Tourist10G
Complete a match on eight different classic Halo 2 maps. Custom games are confirmed to count for the matching Halo: CE and Halo 3 map-variety achievements and are expected to count here too: load each map, end the game from the pause menu, and repeat. If it has not unlocked after eight maps, finish the remaining maps in matchmaking.
▶Window Shopping
Complete a match in four different game types on classic Halo 2 maps, using the same method.
▶The Guardians Are Coming
Die from something the game cannot attribute to anyone, so the kill feed says you were killed by the Guardians. Halopedia's examples include being hit by the train on the classic Halo 2 map Terminal, Brute landmines on Halo 3's Sandtrap, and lingering in the timed kill zone of the Forward Unto Dawn wreckage on Halo 4's Dawn. While you are loading classic Halo 2 maps, start a solo custom game on Terminal and stand on the tracks until the train hits you. If that does not unlock it, use the Dawn kill zone during your Halo 4 runs.
▶Halo 2: Anniversary Multiplayer
▶How to Approach H2A Multiplayer
These 38 achievements use the remade Anniversary maps. MCC has no bots, so split them into three groups: things you can do alone in a custom game, things that need a second player as a target in a custom game, and things that require Anniversary matchmaking. On Xbox, a split-screen guest on a second controller is the easiest second player. A few need three players in one match.
To complete a custom game solo, set a low score limit, then end the game from the pause menu once it loads so the post-game carnage report appears. Quitting out does not count.
▶Solo Custom Games
Hunt the seven BLAST soda cans in one solo custom-game session. Set it up like this:
- Pick a game type that spawns you with a Sniper Rifle, such as Team Snipers. Bloodline, Lockdown, Zenith, and Shrine are long-range shots, and Shrine needs the 10x zoom.
- Use the default, unmodified map, not a Forge-edited variant.
- As a precaution, if the map list shows both a plain map name and an "Anniversary" version of the same map, launch the plain-name entry. One guide insists on this without explaining why.
- Shoot each can. Melee only works where you can reach the can, on Warlord and Stonetown. Check that the achievement unlocked before leaving the map; a can that breaks without the achievement popping does not count.
- After each can on the six original maps, end the game from the pause menu so it also counts toward Tour of Duty. Do Remnant last.
If a can breaks without unlocking its achievement, restart the game for a fresh map load and shoot it again with a clean, undisturbed shot. This is a commonly reported fix, not a guaranteed one.
▶Bloody Thirsty!
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Bloodline BLAST can — rock in a canyon-wall crack to the left of Blue base; sniper shot.
Stand at Blue base facing the middle of the map. The can sits on a rock in a crack in the canyon wall to your left, faintly visible through a sniper scope. Shoot it from Blue base; if the angle is awkward, move closer to the cliff.
▶Thirst Locked Down!
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Lockdown BLAST can — ledge behind the central hanging ice, seen from near the gravity lift; take an undisturbed sniper shot.
The can is on a ledge behind the central hanging ice. On a fresh map load, stand near the gravity lift and scope toward the cracks behind the central icicle. Shoot the can directly without disturbing the ice or picking up power-ups first; one player reported three failed unlocks after moving the ice and a successful one after an undisturbed shot. Only shoot the icicle down if it blocks your view. If the achievement does not unlock, restart the game and try a clean shot. Do this before your Cold as Ice session with a partner.
▶Rule Your Thirst!
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Warlord BLAST can — crack behind a tree root in the back-right corner of the gold side's top level.
On the top level of the yellow/gold side of the map, a tree root grows down into the back-right corner as seen from the middle. The can is in a crack in the wall just behind the root, among rocks and leaves. Walk up and shoot or melee it; no sniper is needed.
▶High Altitude Thirst!
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Zenith BLAST can — platform beneath the sniper tower, seen from the blue container by the big rock.
By the sniper tower, climb the crates next to the big rock and stand on the blue container, facing the tower's support. The can is on the small platform beneath the tower. Shoot it, ideally with the Sniper Rifle.
▶Gate Your Thirst!
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Stonetown BLAST can — between two crates on the blue-tarp scaffolding, bottom floor of the power station.
On the bottom floor of the power station (the large base), scaffolding covered with a blue tarp has two crates on top. The can sits between the crates. Jump up and shoot or melee it.
▶Worship Your Thirst!
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Shrine BLAST can — right-hand top of the out-of-bounds temple behind and left of Red base; 10x sniper shot.
The can is out of bounds, on top of a crumbling temple in the background behind and to the left of Red base as seen from the middle of the map. From the Eastern Rise area facing the base, look at the temple's two pointed tops; the can is on the right-hand top. Shoot it with the Sniper Rifle at 10x zoom, because it cannot be reached on foot.
▶BLASTacular!
BLASTacular!10G
Destroy the cans on the six original Anniversary maps: Bloodline, Lockdown, Warlord, Zenith, Stonetown, and Shrine. It unlocks after the sixth can. Remnant is not required.
▶Monumental Thirst!
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Remnant BLAST can — just under the water between two rocks behind the stone arch near the Albatross; needed for Monumental Thirst! only.
Destroy the BLAST can on Remnant. It is in the sea near the Albatross dropship: stand behind the stone arch and look down at two rocks sticking out of the water. The can is between them, next to the smaller rock, just under the surface. Aim down into the water and shoot it. One player comment calls the Remnant can bugged without details; if it does not unlock, reload the map and try again.
▶Tour of Duty
Tour of Duty10G
Complete a game on each of the six original Anniversary maps. Do it while hunting the cans: after destroying each can, end the game from the pause menu.
▶Red vs. Blue
Red vs. Blue10G
Win 10 matches on Bloodline. A 2020 to 2022 guide reports that loading a solo custom game on Bloodline and ending it immediately counts as a win. This was not re-confirmed for 2025 or 2026, so check the progress after one or two games. If solo wins stop counting, play Bloodline custom games against your second player and win them.
▶Stayin' Alive
Survive 30 seconds as the Juggernaut. Start a solo custom Juggernaut game and wait.
▶Eminent Domain
Control three territories at the same time for 30 seconds. Set up a solo custom Territories game with three territories, capture all three, and hold them.
▶Bombing Run
Bombing Run10G
In Assault, pick up the bomb from its spawn, plant it, and score without dying or dropping it. A solo custom Assault game works.
▶Power Play
Power Play10G
On Warlord, collect five active camouflage power-ups in a single game. Start a long solo custom Slayer game on Warlord, wait at the center camo spawn, and grab each one as it respawns.
▶Wetwork
Wetwork5G
On Shrine in CTF, trigger the enemy base waterfall and grab the enemy flag before the waterfall stops. A solo custom CTF game on Shrine works.
▶Custom Games With a Second Player
Set up a custom game with your split-screen guest or a friend on the enemy team. The partner simply stands, drives, or flies where you need them.
▶Cold Fusion
Kill an opponent by detonating a Fusion Coil. Have your partner stand next to a coil on a map such as Lockdown or Stonetown and shoot it.
▶Cold as Ice
Cold as Ice10G
On Lockdown, kill an opponent with the hanging ice. Have your partner stand under an icicle and shoot it down. Each map load has three icicles.
▶Counter-Sniped
Kill an enemy who is zoomed in, using a Sniper Rifle or Beam Rifle. Have your partner zoom in with a sniper while you shoot them.
▶Top Gungoose
Top Gungoose10G
Get a kill with the Gungoose while it is airborne. On Bloodline, launch the Gungoose off a ramp or man cannon and hit your partner in the air.
▶The Goose is Loose
Get 25 kills with the Gungoose. This is cumulative across games. Keep farming your partner on Bloodline after Top Gungoose.
▶Shook the Hornet's Nest
Get 30 kills with the Hornet. This is cumulative. Farm your partner on Bloodline.
▶Skeet Shooter
Kill 15 opponents who are airborne after launching from a man cannon. This is cumulative. On Bloodline, your partner launches from a man cannon again and again while you shoot them mid-air.
▶Grand Theft Halo
In one match, steal five occupied vehicles from opponents. Your partner drives a Gungoose or Ghost on Bloodline and you hijack them five times.
▶Blown Out of the Sky
Destroy a piloted Banshee or Hornet in flight with the Rocket Launcher. Your partner flies a Hornet on Bloodline while you rocket it.
▶Put Up Your Dukes
Get 25 melee kills. This is cumulative. Melee your partner repeatedly in any custom game.
▶Invaders Repelled
In King of the Hill, kill five opponents while you stand inside the hill your team controls. Set up custom King of the Hill and have your partner walk toward the hill repeatedly while you defend from inside it.
▶Decorated Warrior
Earn at least 10 different medals in one game. Older wording specified a non-team game, so play free-for-all to be safe. Mix kill types against your partner (headshot, melee, assassination, grenade, splatter, double kill if you have two targets) or let it come naturally in matchmaking.
▶Legend Slayer
Kill an opponent who has the Legendary Anniversary achievement. A guest profile will not have it, so either kill a friend who has completed Halo 2 on Legendary in a custom game, or let it happen naturally in Anniversary matchmaking.
▶Custom Games With Three or More Players
▶Triple Threat
In one Ricochet match, pass the ball once, score once, and kill at least one enemy. You need a teammate to pass to and an enemy to kill, so three players. On Xbox, three-player split-screen or a mix of local and online friends works.
▶Double Down
Double Down10G
Earn two or more Double Kill medals in one Anniversary game. You need at least two opponents for a double kill. It also tends to happen naturally in matchmaking.
▶Anniversary Matchmaking
These require matchmade games on the Anniversary maps. H2A maps come up less often than other games in the mixed playlists; players in 2025 used 1v1 and 2v2 Slayer to find Lockdown and organized sessions through community Discords. Read the online section later in this guide for general matchmaking advice; these are listed here so you know which H2A achievements to look for when Anniversary maps come up.
▶Warden
Warden10G
Stop another player's killing spree in Halo 2 Classic or Anniversary matchmaking. This comes naturally.
▶Ninja Redux
Ninja Redux10G
Kill five people with melee from behind in Anniversary matchmaking. This is cumulative across matches.
▶Flaming Ninja Anniversary
Kill an opponent who has Ninja Redux in Anniversary matchmaking. Many players have it, so it comes naturally.
▶Zealot
Zealot10G
Win 10 Anniversary matchmaking games with Elite selected as your species in customization. Set Elite in your Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer customization before you queue. Halopedia says custom games once counted, but the current description specifies matchmaking, so plan on matchmaking.
▶MVP
MVP10G
Finish as the top player on the winning team in a matchmade game. Objective modes or a 2v2 with a strong partner make this easier.
▶Shields Up!
Shields Up!10G
On Zenith, personally activate the center energy shield three times in one matchmade game. Hold interact at the control panels each time it becomes available. Getting Zenith in matchmaking is the bottleneck.
▶Roadkill Rampage
Earn 100 Splatter medals in Anniversary matchmaking. This is cumulative and needs vehicle maps such as Bloodline or Zenith to come up. It is one of the rarest achievements in MCC. Track it across your whole matchmaking phase and join community boosting events when they run.
▶Rock and Coil Hit Back
Earn 100 Environmentalist medals in Anniversary matchmaking: kills with Lockdown's falling ice or exploding Fusion Coils. As of 2024 and 2025, the best-known method is queuing 1v1 when Lockdown comes up, where around 15 environmental kills per match are possible, ideally with a boosting partner searching at the same time.
▶Halo 3: ODST
▶ODST Plan and Difficulty
ODST alternates between Mombasa Streets, a night-time hub where the Rookie searches for clues, and flashback missions that each clue unlocks. The story order is Mombasa Streets, Tayari Plaza, Uplift Reserve, Kizingo Boulevard, ONI Alpha Site, NMPD HQ, Kikowani Station, Data Hive, and Coastal Highway. Mombasa Streets has no par time or par score.
Do a Legendary pass first (co-op is allowed and helps). Then do the Easy par-time runs and the scoring runs. Leave the audio logs until after the campaign so you can collect them all in one sitting; the reason is explained under the audio log section.
ODST's par scores use a skull multiplier approach: TrueAchievements recommends Heroic with Famine, Thunderstorm, and Tough Luck (around 3.17x), adding Iron for around 4.12x if you are confident.
▶Mombasa Streets
Each clue you find in the hub unlocks the next flashback, so the six clue achievements are unmissable story progress.
▶Junior Detective
Find the first clue in Mombasa Streets. It unlocks during the story and leads into Tayari Plaza.
▶Investigator
Investigator10G
Find the second clue. This leads into Uplift Reserve.
▶Gumshoe
Gumshoe10G
Find the third clue. This leads into Kizingo Boulevard.
▶Bloodhound

Find the fourth clue. This leads into ONI Alpha Site.
▶Private Eye
Private Eye10G
Find the fifth clue. This leads into NMPD HQ.
▶Secret Agent
Secret Agent10G
Find the sixth clue. This leads into Kikowani Station.
▶Saturday Morning Cartoon
Once VISR database access opens, find the Web-O's cereal box in the first building: on the floor to the right of the courtyard door, in front of a couch. Center your view on it.
▶Catch 'Em Napping
Kill five sleeping Grunts in Mombasa Streets. The area around Rally Point 5 has a group. Quietly melee or headshot them before they wake.
▶Naughty Naughty
Kill 10 Engineers. Mombasa Streets at night has the most Engineers. A charged plasma pistol shot drops them quickly. Kill every Engineer you see during your hub runs.
▶Well...Maybe One or Two
Kill 25 Engineers. Keep going in the hub; the audio-log sitting later gives you plenty more chances. Halopedia also says Halo: Reach Engineer kills count, but no other source confirms it, so plan to finish here.
▶Mission 1: Tayari Plaza
▶Two Places, Same Time
At the start, melee the first Marine on the head to knock his helmet off. The achievement unlocks when it comes off.
▶Bip! Bap! BAM!
Earn a Triple Kill medal with the pistol. The Grunts up the ramp at the start are the best targets, especially on Easy.
▶Pineapple Express

Splattering enemies with the vehicle is allowed. Expect a few attempts.

Hub location 29 — Mombasa Streets: center of the Kikowani Station district, the northernmost hub log. Look for through the door under the red light, up the stairs, and along the hallway out onto the balcony; the phone is there.
There are 30 audio logs. Logs 1 through 29 are terminals spread around the Mombasa Streets hub: public phones and booths, kiosks, comms terminals, health-kit stations, and at least one ATM. Log 30 is in Data Hive and only appears if you already hold all 29. The 29 numbered achievements count how many logs you have picked up, not which ones, so any pickup order works: your first log unlocks Listener, your second An Ear Full, and so on. You do not need to collect them in any particular order.
Do the whole collection in one unbroken solo sitting after you have finished the campaign:
- Finish the campaign first. That unlocks a final Mombasa Streets rally point with every gate open; some guides call it Open Streets, and TrueAchievements describes the run from Rally Point 6 (Biofoam Canister). Set Easy, play solo, and load the last Mombasa Streets rally point the menu offers. If that rally point does not continue into Kikowani Station when you leave, use Rally Point 6 instead.
- Grab a Mongoose from the first supply cache that offers one. Collecting logs opens weapon caches around the city, and two of them hold Mongooses, which speed the sweep up a lot.
- Sweep the city for all 29 terminals. The Superintendent is your detector, and with VISR on, terminals are outlined in yellow, so keep VISR active while you search. Near an uncollected terminal, signs change to detour or keep-left messages, lights flash, phones ring, car alarms and sirens go off, barriers move, and machines spit out coins. Those cues stop once that terminal is collected, so the city gets quieter as you go. A good coarse sweep order is through the districts in story order: Tayari Plaza, Uplift Reserve, Kizingo Boulevard, ONI Alpha Site, NMPD headquarters, then Kikowani Station. The game does not mark terminal locations, so use the Audio Logs list in the Collectibles section at the end of this guide: it describes all 29 hub locations from Halopedia's audio log map, described with that map oriented so Kikowani Station is at the top and Uplift Reserve at the bottom left; use the district names to match it to your in-game map, which may be rotated differently. A practical sweep is the western district (locations 1 to 9), Uplift Reserve (10), the central and Kizingo Boulevard streets (11 to 18 and 20), the NMPD Headquarters area (19 and 21 to 25), then north to Kikowani Station (26 to 29). The map's numbers are Halopedia's location labels, not the order the game counts your pickups, so collect them in whatever order is convenient. Allow about an hour, and kill every Engineer you see for Naughty Naughty and Well...Maybe One or Two.
- Before leaving the hub, check two things: Wisening Up has unlocked during this sitting, and the audio log list in the pause menu shows 29. If the list is short, look for a location whose Superintendent cues have come back on and activate it again. Leaving the hub by the blue waypoint is a point of no return for this run: you cannot go back, and log 30 will not appear without 29.
- Follow the blue waypoint into Kikowani Station, rush it on Easy, and continue straight into Data Hive. Do not quit or Save and Quit at any point.
- In Data Hive, keep the NMPD officer you rescue alive. With 29 logs held, he drops down to sub-level 9 with you; without them, he stays behind and Drones kill him, and log 30 never appears. Follow the Audiophile entry below for the final steps.

Data Hive log — sub-level 9, phone on the far wall left of the door in Dr. Endesha's frozen office; appears only with all 29 hub logs held.
Find the 30th audio log in Data Hive. On sub-level 9, the NMPD officer stops at Dr. Endesha's frozen, ice-covered office (signed as a restricted crime scene) and tells you to wait outside. Follow him in anyway, clear any Covenant in the room, and kill him when he turns hostile. The log terminal is a phone on the far wall, to the left of the door you came in by, and it starts glowing once he is dead.
▶Record Store Owner
Find all 30 audio logs. It unlocks together with Audiophile. If it does not, the reliable recovery is a fresh solo sitting: collect all 29 again in one go and continue into Data Hive. Halo Support's official advice is to replay in co-op and collect them again, but co-op is reported to reset log progress, so treat that only as a last resort. Loading Data Hive directly in a later session only works if your profile kept all 29, which the save bug makes unreliable.

▶Safety Not Guaranteed
Complete a Halo 3: ODST LASO Campaign playlist. Halopedia lists two qualifying LASO playlists; TrueAchievements recommends LASO Non Stop Action as the shortest. Solo is viable: carry a plasma pistol plus a precision weapon, give the AI rockets, and use Save and Quit before a death under Iron would cost progress.
▶Halo 3
▶Halo 3 Plan and Difficulty
Halo 3 supports four-player co-op, which makes it the friendliest Legendary in the collection. Co-op players also share one score in MCC, so par scores are much easier with a full team. The route is a Legendary pass with skulls and terminals, then Easy par-time runs, then scoring runs.
Halo 3 campaign skulls only spawn on Normal or higher. Mythic also appears on Easy, but picking it up on Easy does not award the achievement, so skull pickups on Easy never count. Collect them on the Legendary pass. Halopedia also warns that the Catch skull will not spawn if your service record has the Easy campaign shield (from completing the campaign on Easy); having completed the campaign on Normal or higher fixes it, so grab the skulls before any Easy runs.
Halo 3 terminals only register if you page through the whole entry: open each one and scroll until the arrow changes.
▶Mission 1: Sierra 117
Four of Sierra 117's achievements are hidden in the opening jungle. A scoped weapon helps with the caveman Easter eggs.
▶Skulltaker Halo 3: Blind
At the start of the level, the skull is at the end of a protruding rock formation.
▶Missing Link
From the ladder outside the second concrete enclosure, near Johnson's crashed Pelican, look across the water. A caveman sits in a V-shaped tree; zoom in on him with a Battle Rifle until it unlocks. On Heroic and Legendary a Jackal sniper is nearby, so clear it first.
▶Primate
Primate5G
After Johnson mentions his downed Pelican, hug the left wall in the jungle, climb the rocks, and crouch under a ledge to find a caveman family.
▶Haplorrhini
After the Brute Chieftain and Johnson cutscene, a lone caveman sits in a foliage alcove above and behind the departing Phantom. Zoom in on him from the bridge.
▶Skulltaker Halo 3: Iron
Past the bridge and the Johnson area, the skull is behind a pillar on the balcony.

Parking the four vehicles under the bridge against the far wall counts; no jump is needed. In co-op, each player drives one. Solo, you ferry four vehicles one at a time. Some players use Acrophobia as a sixth skull to fly ahead and clear enemies before bringing the vehicles. Do this on its own run.

▶Babbling Dead
Terminal 6 is in the third tower, on a dark ledge opposite the elevator.
▶Skulltaker Halo 3: Thunderstorm
During the Hornet section, the skull is at the end of a tower extension.
▶Skulltaker Halo 3: IWHBYD
This is the most complex Halo 3 skull. Near the end of the mission, after the Flood fight, face the seven holographic rings instead of dropping through the vent. Hit them in the order 4, 6, 5, 4, 5, 3, 4; the notes they play form the end of the Halo theme's chant, which tells you the order is right. Then go back to the control console: the skull is on the floor just in front of the light bridge.
▶Phantom Hunter
Destroy three Phantoms on The Covenant. The count carries across checkpoint reloads: from Rally Point Bravo, take a Hornet, destroy the Phantom over the small island, revert the checkpoint, and repeat until you have three. Some players report it not unlocking; if so, replay and destroy three on one run without reverting.
▶Dirge of Madrigal

Short Halo 3 playlists include Wheels, Wheels, and More Wheels (Tsavo Highway, The Ark, Halo), Heavy Anticipation (Crow's Nest, Floodgate, The Covenant), and Mixin' It Up.
▶Boot Camp Hero
Complete any Halo 3 playlist.
▶Aficiando
Aficiando20G
Complete three Halo 3 playlists. Use the short three-mission playlists, or count LASO if you finish it first.
▶A Preference for Pain
Complete the Halo 3 LASO Campaign playlist: every mission on Legendary with all thirteen LASO skulls forced on. It must be done through the playlist. Up to four players can play, Iron in co-op reverts to the last checkpoint, and progress saves between sessions. A full four-player team is strongly recommended.
▶Halo 3 Multiplayer
Every Halo 3 multiplayer achievement works in custom games. The six map skulls only appear in Forge on their maps, and a solo local Forge session works.
▶Assembly Skull
In Forge on Assembly, the skull is between the two pipes that link the middle to the building.
▶Orbital Skull
In Forge on Orbital, the skull is on top of a tall column near the hallway with the sniper rifle, Power Drain, and dual plasma rifles. Fly up as the Monitor, then switch to Spartan beside it, or crouch-walk to it.
▶Sandbox Skull
In Forge on Sandbox, the skull is between the Guardian towers to the right of the sun. The towers kill instantly, so reach it with a Forge setup: a tube plus teleporters, a carried corridor piece, or a bubble shield plus overshield.
▶Citadel Skull
In Forge on Citadel, the skull is in the alcove on top of the pillar between the blue triangles near the blue-side overshield.
▶Heretic Skull
In Forge on Heretic, stand on the sword platform facing the windows, turn 90 degrees right, and look under the vents.
▶Longshore Skull
In Forge on Longshore, head toward the aircraft carrier and turn right. The skull is on top of a large ventilation shaft beside a "Fronk's" sign.
▶Brainpan
Brainpan10G
Collect all six Halo 3 multiplayer skulls. It unlocks with the sixth.
▶Sounds Familiar
On High Ground, wait in the computer room. The radio under the large computer changes from static to Halo music, and the achievement unlocks. A solo custom game works.
▶Man on the Moon
On Standoff, look at the moon on the west side through a sniper rifle scope to see a face.
▶Hippo Hero
On Foundry, at the south end in front of the truck, follow the tire tracks to a trash pile with a toy hippo. Forge makes it easier to reach.
▶Elder Signs
Elder Signs10G
View two different sigils on the Valhalla turret wall on two different holiday dates. The sigils appear on 1 January, 22 April, 5 May, 4 July, 7 July, 31 October, 11 November, and 25 December. Load a custom game on Valhalla on one of those dates and look at the sign for around 15 seconds, then do it again on a second holiday. It is not visible in split-screen, so play alone on screen. PC players report that changing the system date works; this is unverified on Xbox and one 2024 report said it failed, so the safe route is two real holidays.
▶World Traveler
Complete matches on eight different Halo 3 maps. Load each in a solo custom game and end the game from the pause menu.
▶Just Browsing
Complete matches in four different Halo 3 game types, using the same method.
▶Halo 4
▶Halo 4 Plan and Difficulty
Play every Halo 4 mission solo on Legendary. Lone Wolf Legend requires the whole sweep solo, and it covers The Legend of 117 and every lower difficulty achievement. Collect the seven terminals on that run. One unconfirmed comment says the Reclaimer terminal needs Normal or higher, which your Legendary run covers anyway. Then do Easy par-time runs and scoring runs as usual.
Halo 4 is also where Watchers, Knights, and Crawlers live, so this section finishes the Promethean kill achievements. Spartan Ops follows the campaign.
▶Mission 1: Dawn
The Prologue before Dawn is a cutscene with no achievements.
▶Digging up the Past
From the starting area, go left instead of straight ahead and take the staircase down. The terminal with the Master Chief's records is at the far end of the room.
▶Dawn
Dawn10G
Complete Dawn on any difficulty.
▶Piece of Cake
Beat the 15:00 par time on Dawn.
▶Gunslinger
Gunslinger10G
Beat the 25,000 par score on Dawn.
▶Mission 2: Requiem
▶War
War5G
Terminal 1 is near the end of the level, under a clear ramp, after the two Hunters in a long hallway.
▶Requiem
Requiem10G
Complete Requiem on any difficulty.
▶Interloper
Interloper10G
Beat the 15:00 par time on Requiem. This is the tightest Halo 4 par. Play on Easy, skip cutscenes, sprint through every area, and run past fights you do not have to clear instead of stopping to kill everything. Only fight where the mission makes you.
▶Dark Fortress
Beat the 22,000 par score on Requiem.
▶Mission 3: Forerunner
▶Lord of Admirals
Terminal 2 is early in the level, at ground level beneath the next objective, after the HUD distortion and the first Crawler and Knight encounter.
▶This is my Rifle, This is my Gun
Carry a UNSC weapon through all of Forerunner on Heroic or Legendary. You can pick up Forerunner or Covenant weapons in your other slot, but always keep one UNSC weapon. Start from the beginning of the mission. Your Legendary run covers it if you never swap out your UNSC weapon.
▶Forerunner
Forerunner10G
Complete Forerunner on any difficulty.
▶Raging in the Dark
Beat the 20:00 par time on Forerunner.
▶Shadow of Sundered Star
Beat the 22,000 par score on Forerunner.
▶Mission 4: Infinity
▶Charum Hakkor
Terminal 3 is directly behind you when you spawn inside the ship after the cutscene.
▶Bros to the Close
Complete Infinity on Heroic or Legendary without one preventable Marine death. Scripted deaths do not count against you. You need six Marines alive when you go through the door to the landing zone, so count them with Promethean Vision before opening it. Keep them alive: give them Lightrifles and Railguns, kill Watchers first, then Knights, then Crawlers, and destroy the beam turrets on the hill. Promethean Vision helps you track the Marines. Restart the mission if one dies. This is widely considered the hardest Halo 4 campaign challenge for its reward. Co-op is strongly recommended, and Heroic is enough. Do it on a separate co-op Heroic run, not your solo Legendary run.
▶Infinity
Infinity10G
Complete Infinity on any difficulty.
▶Ouroboros
Ouroboros10G
Beat the 25:00 par time on Infinity.
▶Jungle Warfare
Beat the 25,000 par score on Infinity.
▶Mission 5: Reclaimer
▶Flood
Flood5G
After retrieving Cortana indoors, go right instead of taking the elevator to find Terminal 4.
▶Mortardom
Mortardom10G
On Heroic or Legendary, hijack a Wraith in the open tank section and use it to kill at least four enemy Wraiths.
▶Reclaimer
Reclaimer10G
Complete Reclaimer on any difficulty.
▶Gimme That
Gimme That10G
Beat the 20:00 par time on Reclaimer.
▶Librarian's Pet
Beat the 25,000 par score on Reclaimer.
▶Mission 6: Shutdown
▶Knights
Knights5G
Take the last possible left turn before the Hunter checkpoint. Terminal 5 is behind a structure on a platform.
▶Explore the Floor
On Heroic or Legendary, make a Hunter fall to its death. At the Hunter platform, stand near the edge and jetpack backward as a Hunter charges you so it follows you over. The unlock can lag by a few minutes, and some players only got it at mission end, so finish the mission before assuming it failed.
▶Shutdown
Shutdown10G
Complete Shutdown on any difficulty.
▶Shut. Down. Everything.
Beat the 20:00 par time on Shutdown.
▶Emergency Shutdown
Beat the 25,000 par score on Shutdown.
▶Mission 7: Composer
▶Justice
Justice5G
Terminal 6 is inside a cave in the atrium, across from where you enter after meeting Dr. Tilson. A 2014 guide describes it as near the base of the "Atrium" sign, which is a useful landmark for the same area.
▶Give Him the Stick
Kill both Hunters using only the Sticky Detonator, on any difficulty. Use the detonator near the arena and the spares (two in a supply case on the far left, one on a table on the far right). Stick the orange weak points on their heads and backs. Do not let any other weapon or grenade damage them. Easy makes this simple.
▶You're No Chips
On the west side of the chamber holding the Composer, stand near two Marines discussing Mantis defense testing and let their conversation finish.
▶Composer
Composer10G
Complete Composer on any difficulty.
▶Symphony of Pain
Beat the 20:00 par time on Composer.
▶Head Banging
Head Banging10G
Beat the 25,000 par score on Composer.
▶Mission 8: Midnight
▶Cryptum
Cryptum5G
In the on-foot section, Terminal 7 is behind two pillars in the third or fourth room.
▶Chief, Smash!
Kill three Crawlers with one Gravity Hammer swing. Let Crawlers bunch up near the Gravity Hammer area, then swing. Easy is fine.
▶Midnight
Midnight10G
Complete Midnight on any difficulty.
▶Countdown
Countdown10G
Beat the 25:00 par time on Midnight.
▶Witching Hour
Beat the 25,000 par score on Midnight.
▶Halo 4 Campaign-Wide Achievements
▶Librarian's Gift
Complete every Halo 4 level on Easy or higher. This comes with the Legendary sweep.
▶Wake Up, John
Complete every Halo 4 level on Normal or higher. This comes with the Legendary sweep.
▶I Need a Hero
Complete every Halo 4 level on Heroic or higher. This comes with the Legendary sweep.
▶The Legend of 117
Complete every Halo 4 level on Legendary. Co-op is allowed, but your solo run covers it.
▶Lone Wolf Legend
Complete every Halo 4 level on Legendary by yourself. Watch out for Incineration Cannons, Binary Rifles, and Scattershots.
▶Terminus
Terminus20G
Activate all seven Halo 4 terminals. Dawn's records terminal is separate and not part of this count.
▶Easy As One Two Three
Beat par time on all eight Halo 4 levels.
▶You Had it Coming
Beat par score on all eight Halo 4 levels.
▶You're Joking
Complete all Halo 4 Legendary missions in under three hours total. This adds up your best Legendary time on each mission, solo or co-op, so improve your slowest missions after the sweep. The par times total 2:40, so par pace on Legendary leaves room.
▶Halo 4 Playlists
Short Halo 4 playlists include The Covenant Threat (Dawn, Requiem, Composer), Canyon Combat (Forerunner, Reclaimer, Composer), and Tight Corridors (Dawn, Shutdown, Midnight).
▶Chest of Gold
Complete any Halo 4 playlist.
▶Devotee
Devotee20G
Complete three Halo 4 playlists. The three short playlists above are the quickest trio.
▶Naked Tyrant
Naked Tyrant30G
Complete the Halo 4 LASO Campaign playlist: every mission on Legendary with the playlist's forced skull set. Up to four players can play and progress saves between sessions. Solo players have used Save and Quit followed by Resume before a death to retry from the checkpoint; that was reported in 2020 and has not been re-confirmed.
▶Spartan Ops
Spartan Ops has 10 episodes of five chapters each, 50 chapters in total, all available from the start. It can be played solo or with up to four players. Local play gives you Mantises on The Cauldron Base, which matchmaking does not.
The efficient route is one solo Legendary pass of all 50 chapters, which covers Smooth Operator, Icarus, Feet First, and every episode achievement. Respawns are unlimited. Good loadout choices are a DMR or Battle Rifle, a Plasma Pistol, plasma or sticky grenades, and active camo or jetpack; an overcharged Plasma Pistol shot followed by a plasma grenade kills Knights quickly. Bandanna and Acrophobia are helpful skulls.
Legendary should cover the lower Spartan Ops difficulty achievements, as it does everywhere else in MCC, but this is not documented for Spartan Ops specifically. Check Term of Enlistment and Hazard Pay after your 50th chapter. If either is missing, replay the chapters on that difficulty.
▶Operation Completion
Complete any Spartan Ops chapter. It unlocks with your first.
▶Knight in White Assassination
Assassinate a Knight in any Spartan Ops chapter. Episode 1 Chapter 4, Sacred, is the best spot: when you leave the star map room, a Knight appears in the corridor. Use Promethean Vision and wait until it turns away. In co-op, one player distracts it.
▶Roses vs Violets
Find one of the Red vs. Blue Easter eggs hidden in Spartan Ops; there is one in each episode and one is enough. The easiest is in Episode 1's chapter Core: Caboose slips into the radio transmissions between Palmer, Dalton, and Fireteam Castle, so just play the chapter and listen. If that does not unlock it, in Episode 2's chapter Gagarin hug the left wall until you find yellow sacks, then shoot the hidden box behind a bush. In Episode 5's chapter Spartan Thorne, the egg turns ordnance drops into Gravity Hammers.
▶Departure
Departure10G
Complete all five chapters of Episode 1.
▶No One Left Behind
In Episode 2 Chapter 3, Hacksaw, finish the chapter on Heroic or Legendary with at least one Marine alive. Protect them as the chapter progresses.
▶Artifact
Artifact10G
Complete all five chapters of Episode 2.
▶Catherine
Catherine10G
Complete all five chapters of Episode 3.
▶Didact's Hand
Complete all five chapters of Episode 4.
▶No Easy Way Out
In Episode 5 Chapter 1, Spartan Miller, survive the research-station defense on Heroic or Legendary. Deaths are allowed; you just need to outlast the waves. A new wave spawns when only one enemy remains, so keep two Knights or Crawlers alive and distracted for about five minutes until the stations are no longer needed. This chapter can be failed, so take it carefully on your Legendary pass.
▶What Power Outage?
In Episode 5 Chapter 4, The Cauldron Base, finish without losing a generator on Heroic or Legendary. Play it locally so you get the Mantises, stay near the generators, and kill Phantoms as they approach.
▶Memento Mori
Memento Mori10G
Complete all five chapters of Episode 5.
▶Scattered
Scattered10G
Complete all five chapters of Episode 6.
▶Invasion
Invasion10G
Complete all five chapters of Episode 7. In Chapter 1, disable the Phantom's guns rather than destroying it, or the chapter can fail.
▶Expendable
Expendable10G
Complete all five chapters of Episode 8.
▶Key
Key10G
Complete all five chapters of Episode 9.
▶Exodus
Exodus10G
Complete all five chapters of Episode 10.
▶Feet First
Feet First10G
Complete all 50 Spartan Ops chapters on any difficulty.
▶Term of Enlistment
Complete all Spartan Ops chapters on Normal or higher.
▶Hazard Pay
Hazard Pay20G
Complete all Spartan Ops chapters on Heroic or higher.
▶Icarus
Icarus30G
Complete all Spartan Ops chapters on Legendary, solo or co-op.
▶Smooth Operator
Complete all Spartan Ops chapters solo on Legendary.
▶Promethean Kill Farm
By now you have progressed Checkmate, I Was Wondering What Would Break First, and Pest Control through the campaign and Spartan Ops. The 1,000-kill versions need a farm. Kills count on any difficulty and are not removed by checkpoint reverts, so load Midnight on Easy, fight the Promethean groups around the Gravity Hammer and turret-defense area, and revert to the checkpoint to respawn them. Spartan Ops chapters full of Prometheans are an alternative.
▶Remove the Bishops From the Board
Kill 1,000 Watchers. Watchers die fast, but there are fewer of them per group, so this is usually the last Promethean counter to finish.
▶Knightbane
Knightbane10G
Kill 1,000 Knights.
▶Dogcatcher
Dogcatcher10G
Kill 1,000 Crawlers. Crawlers come in large groups, so this tends to finish first.
▶Halo 4 Multiplayer
▶Going International
Complete a match on eight different Halo 4 multiplayer maps. It is not confirmed whether custom games count for this one, though they count for the equivalent Halo: CE and Halo 3 achievements. Try solo custom games first: load each map with a low score limit and end the game from the pause menu so the carnage report shows. If it has not unlocked after eight maps, finish the rest in matchmaking.
▶Taste Test
Taste Test10G
Complete a match in four different Halo 4 game types. Use the same method as Going International.
▶Collection-Wide Campaign Milestones
▶Master Chief Campaign Sweeps
Despite the "all campaigns" wording, these achievements only cover the four Master Chief games: Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4. ODST and Reach are not required. If you followed the game sections, all of these unlock when the last required mission is done.
▶Herald of the Reclamation
Complete every campaign mission of CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4 on Easy or higher. This stacks with your Legendary sweeps.
▶Veteran
Veteran30G
Complete the four Master Chief campaigns on Normal or higher.
▶War Hero
War Hero40G
Complete the four Master Chief campaigns on Heroic or higher.
▶Legend
Legend50G
Complete the four Master Chief campaigns on Legendary, solo or co-op. If it has not unlocked after your fourth Legendary sweep, open the game hub or restart the console to refresh progress before replaying anything. Avoid skulls that show a x0.00 multiplier warning on Legendary runs, because they have been reported to void credit.
▶Lore Master
Lore Master30G
Activate all 38 terminals in the four Master Chief games: 10 in CE, 13 in Halo 2, 8 in Halo 3, and 7 in Halo 4. It unlocks with the last of Dear Diary..., Walking Encyclopedia, No Stone Unturned, and Terminus. ODST and Reach collectibles are not included.
▶Throne of Bones
Claim every campaign skull in Halo: CE, Halo 2, and Halo 3. It unlocks with the last of Headhunter, Trophy Collector, and Witch Doctor. Halo 4 has no skull collectibles.
▶Cross-Game Playlists
Cross-game playlists mix missions from several games. They are on Normal unless the name says otherwise, support co-op, and save progress between sessions. The shortest is Get in the Ring: three missions (CE's Halo, Halo 2's Delta Halo, and Halo 3's Halo).
▶I Dabble in Slaying
Complete one cross-game playlist. Get in the Ring is the fastest.
▶Sample Plate
Sample Plate20G
Complete three cross-game playlists. After Get in the Ring, the next shortest are four-mission playlists such as Hogs, Jets, Tanks, and Mechs, Epic Battles, or Final Four. The Master Chief Saga below also counts toward this.
▶Life Story
Life Story30G
Complete The Master Chief Saga playlist: 46 missions across CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4, on Normal with no skulls. Do not confuse it with The Legendary Master Chief Saga, which is not required. Progress saves, so play a few missions per session. Play it solo. Co-op is supported by the playlist, but a long-standing tracking failure, still reported in September and October 2026, can stop The Maw and The Heretic from registering in co-op, leaving you stuck at 44 of 46. Check the playlist progress after each of those two missions. No confirmed fix has been documented; some players have looked for another player whose Master Chief Saga run is at the missing mission and joined it, but that is anecdotal. It also counts as a cross-game playlist for Sample Plate.
▶LASO
▶No Pain, No Gain
Complete one mission with the LASO playlist skulls enabled. This unlocks with the first real mission you finish in any LASO playlist. Cutscene-only missions such as Halo 3's Arrival and Halo 4's Prologue do not count, and Spartan Ops does not count.
▶LASO Master
LASO Master50G
Complete the game-specific LASO playlists for Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4. It unlocks with the last of Like a Fine Wine, Back for More, A Preference for Pain, and Naked Tyrant. The ODST and Reach LASO playlists are not required for this one, though they have their own achievements in those sections.
▶Online and Multiplayer Grinds
▶Your First Co-op Session
The first time you play campaign with a partner online, knock out these three. They unlock together if you start with Legendary.
▶Bro Hammer
Bro Hammer10G
Complete any co-op mission on Legendary. Pick a short real mission such as Halo 4's Dawn or CE's The Maw. Cutscene-only missions may not count.
▶Brovershield
Brovershield10G
Complete any co-op mission on Heroic or higher. Halopedia notes it unlocks alongside Bro Hammer if you do Legendary first.
▶Standard Operating Brocedure
Complete any co-op mission on Normal or higher. It also unlocks alongside a higher-difficulty co-op clear. Online co-op definitely counts; local split-screen co-op is generally reported to count but is not confirmed, so use online co-op to be safe.
▶Custom-Game Grinds
These count custom games as well as matchmaking, so they can be done offline.
▶Tempered Blade
Win 10 multiplayer games. Wins in custom games count. The established solo method: start a custom game alone (any game type, any map), and once it loads, end the game from the pause menu. If the post-game carnage report appears, it counts as a win and as a completed game. Leaving or quitting does not count. This method was still described as working in a December 2022 guide and has not been re-confirmed since, so check your progress after a few games. If solo wins stop counting, win quick custom games against your second player instead.
▶Contender
Contender10G
Win 50 multiplayer games.
▶Forged in Fire
Win 100 multiplayer games.
▶Sharpshooter
Sharpshooter10G
Win 150 multiplayer games.
▶In It To Win It
Win 200 multiplayer games.
▶Battle Hardened
Win 250 multiplayer games.
▶Thermopylae
Thermopylae10G
Win 300 multiplayer games.
▶Striking Fear in Their Hearts
Win 350 multiplayer games.
▶Steady Aim
Steady Aim10G
Win 400 multiplayer games.
▶Quick Trigger Finger
Win 450 multiplayer games.
▶Multiplayer Champion
Win 500 multiplayer games. Every one of these solo custom wins also counts toward the missions-or-games counters in the final cleanup section, so this grind finishes both tracks together.
▶Aim for the Head
Earn 2,500 Headshot medals in multiplayer. Custom games count. Set up a custom game with your second player and farm headshot kills with a precision weapon and short respawn times.
▶Dim Mak
Dim Mak10G
Earn 250 Beat Down medals in multiplayer. Custom games count, and Firefight beatdowns also count. Melee your second player from behind repeatedly.
▶Nice Work Dawg!
Earn 2,500 Assist medals in multiplayer. Custom games count, and so do Spartan Ops and custom Firefight; matchmade Firefight assists do not. This is the slowest of the three. A partner damaging enemies for you to finish, or vice versa, in custom Firefight speeds it up. Halo 3 multiplayer did not award Assist medals until an April 2022 update.
▶Matchmaking
These require online matchmaking on Xbox, which needs an active online subscription. As of late 2025, MCC matchmaking was working with Xbox and PC crossplay, Social Slayer and SWAT were the most populated playlists, and population varied by region. Steam player counts declined through early 2026. These achievements carry the long-term risk of server closure, so play matchmaking sessions throughout your completion rather than saving them for last. Community Discords, such as Halo Syndicate in 2025, organize boosting sessions for niche modes.
▶Bite The Hand
Kill, in matchmaking, a 343 developer or any player who already has this achievement. Roughly 40% of Steam players have it, so it usually unlocks within your first few matchmade games.
▶Double Trouble
Earn 250 Double Kill medals in matchmade games. Matchmade Firefight double kills count, which makes Firefight matchmaking a good place to farm this.
▶Spree Master
Spree Master10G
Earn 100 Killing Spree medals in matchmade games. Firefight sprees do not count; use player-versus-player matchmaking.
▶Catch This
Catch This10G
Earn 500 Grenade Kill or Plasma Kill medals in matchmade games. Halo: Reach is the only MCC game that does not award these medals; Halo 3 has awarded them since an April 2022 update. Grenade Stick kills do not count. Playlists where Halo 2 Anniversary or Halo 4 come up are the most productive.
▶Party Pooper
Party Pooper10G
Earn 250 Killjoy medals in matchmade games by ending other players' sprees. This builds alongside normal play.
▶Planting A Flag
Earn 250 CTF mode-specific medals in matchmade games. Halo 2 Anniversary and Halo 4 CTF give the most medals per game.
▶The True King
Earn 250 King of the Hill mode-specific medals in matchmade games. Halo 2 Anniversary and Halo 4 give the most.
▶Domination
Domination10G
Earn 100 Legendary-tier medals in matchmade games: Extermination, Killionaire, Perfection, Steaktacular, Triple Double, and Unfriggenbelievable. Steaktacular in Big Team Battle is usually the easiest. Halopedia says Killionaire medals from matchmade Reach Firefight count, but a December 2022 guide says Firefight does not count. Treat Firefight as an option to test: earn one matchmade Firefight Killionaire and check your progress before relying on it.
▶Final Cleanup
▶Finishing the Counters
After the campaigns, playlists, and custom-game wins, most players still need to finish the kill counters and the 10,000-medal track. Check your Career screen to see exact counts.
▶Game On
Game On10G
Complete 50 missions or multiplayer games. Campaign missions, playlist missions, and completed multiplayer games all count; a game ended without a scoring screen does not.
▶I Got This
I Got This10G
Complete 100 missions or multiplayer games.
▶Can't Put It Down
Complete 150 missions or multiplayer games.
▶Bonus Level
Bonus Level10G
Complete 200 missions or multiplayer games.
▶Up All Night
Up All Night10G
Complete 250 missions or multiplayer games.
▶Can't Get Enough
Complete 300 missions or multiplayer games.
▶Committed
Committed10G
Complete 350 missions or multiplayer games.
▶Big Time Gamer
Complete 400 missions or multiplayer games.
▶Long Time Fan
Complete 450 missions or multiplayer games.
▶The Long Haul
Complete 500 missions or multiplayer games. With hundreds of campaign missions across your passes and 500 custom wins, you should pass this long before the end. If not, the solo custom-game method finishes it, or replay a short real mission such as ODST's Tayari Plaza.
▶All Out of Bubblegum
Collect 1,000 campaign or playlist medals. Like Just A Taste, only campaign and mission-playlist medals count, and split-screen guests earn none.
▶A Pile of Medals
Collect 2,000 campaign or playlist medals.
▶A Crate of Medals
Collect 3,000 campaign or playlist medals.
▶A Heap of Medals
Collect 4,000 campaign or playlist medals.
▶A Few Trinkets
Collect 5,000 campaign or playlist medals.
▶Oh, These Baubles?
Collect 6,000 campaign or playlist medals.
▶Chesty Puller Starter Kit
Collect 7,000 campaign or playlist medals.
▶Medal Master Chief
Collect 8,000 campaign or playlist medals.
▶The Good, The Bad, and The Dead
Collect 9,000 campaign or playlist medals.
▶Medal Completionist
Collect 10,000 campaign or playlist medals. Higher difficulty gives no extra medals, so finish the track on Easy: pick enemy-dense missions, chase multi-kills, sprees, and headshots, and combine it with campaign-based kill farming, such as checkpoint-revert farms on Easy.
▶Hunters Hunted
If you still need Hunter kills, set up a solo custom Firefight in Halo: Reach with Hunters as the only enemy type. A Steam player confirmed in December 2019 that a Hunter-only custom Firefight unlocked the Hunter achievement.
▶Wyrmslayer
Wyrmslayer10G
Kill 250 Hunters. Continue the Hunter-only custom Firefight from Hunters Hunted until it unlocks.
▶Gruntageddon
Gruntageddon10G
Kill 1,000 Grunts. Custom Firefight with Grunt-only waves (Gruntpocalypse-style settings) is the fastest farm.
▶Were It So Easy
Kill 1,000 Elites. Use a custom Firefight in Reach with Elites as the enemy type.
▶Scavenger Hunt
Kill 1,000 Jackals. Use a custom Firefight with Jackal waves. In Reach, Skirmisher kills are a separate counter, so set Jackals specifically.
▶Dankey Kang
Dankey Kang10G
Kill 1,000 Brutes. Use a custom Firefight in Reach or ODST with Brute waves.
▶Zombie Repeller
Kill 1,000 Flood. Since the April 2022 update, Halo 3: ODST custom Firefight can be set to Flood waves (Floodfight). Species kills count in custom Firefight, so start a solo custom ODST Firefight with Flood waves on Easy and check that the counter moves. Flood-specific counting there is not explicitly documented; if it does not progress, farm in campaign instead, on an enemy-dense Flood level on Easy such as CE's The Library, with checkpoint reverts to respawn waves.
▶Thanks A Killion
Kill 20,000 enemies or players. If you are still short after the species farms, keep running custom Firefight on Easy with dense waves until it unlocks.
▶Final Checklist
Before you call it done, run through the things most likely to be missing:
- Calendar achievements for each game, and Stick With It...A Little Longer after the three-month mark.
- Two Halo 3 Valhalla sigils on two different holidays, and the Halo 2 Zanzibar seasonal sign.
- The two four-player co-op challenges, Annual and Déjà Vu, plus the two-player Reach Easter eggs and Like Peanut Butter and Chocolate.
- Matchmade medal totals, Roadkill Rampage and Rock and Coil Hit Back in Anniversary matchmaking, and Skunked through a Reach Invasion boosting session.
- Any terminal or skull that failed to register. Use the Save and Quit and full-restart workaround for CE terminals, and remember Halo 3 terminals need every page read.
When every section of this guide is complete, your Xbox list should read 700/700 achievements and 7,000/7,000G.
▶Collectibles
Reference
▶Halo: Reach Data Pads
19 in the game
Nineteen data pads, each with its own achievement, plus Canonical Conundrum for all of them. Pads 1 to 9 appear on any difficulty and pads 10 to 19 only on Legendary, so one Legendary run of each mission collects both sets. Each pad unlocks its achievement on pickup and can be recovered by replaying its mission.
No. 1Data Pad 1 — Winter Contingency, any difficulty: beside dead civilians in the circular building at the south end of the first homestead cluster after the bridge.

Bloodline BLAST can — rock in a canyon-wall crack to the left of Blue base; sniper shot.
Lockdown BLAST can — ledge behind the central hanging ice, seen from near the gravity lift; take an undisturbed sniper shot.
Warlord BLAST can — crack behind a tree root in the back-right corner of the gold side's top level.
Zenith BLAST can — platform beneath the sniper tower, seen from the blue container by the big rock.
Stonetown BLAST can — between two crates on the blue-tarp scaffolding, bottom floor of the power station.
Shrine BLAST can — right-hand top of the out-of-bounds temple behind and left of Red base; 10x sniper shot.
Remnant BLAST can — just under the water between two rocks behind the stone arch near the Albatross; needed for Monumental Thirst! only.
▶Halo 3: ODST Audio Logs
30 in the game
Thirty audio logs: 29 terminals in the Mombasa Streets hub and one in Data Hive that only appears once you hold the other 29. The hub locations below follow Halopedia's audio log map, with Kikowani Station at the top and Uplift Reserve at the bottom left; the location numbers are the map's labels, not the order the game counts pickups. Each entry gives the area first, then the exact terminal to look for there, from a written walkthrough that uses the same location numbering (checked against the map on its most distinctive entries, such as the rooftop phone at 12, the shield-blocked gazebo at 9, the roundabout at 10, and the Kikowani Station logs at 28 and 29). If a description does not match what you see, check the neighbouring locations named in the entry. Collect all 29 in one solo sitting after the campaign. In each area, keep VISR on (terminals are outlined in yellow) and use the Superintendent's cues (flashing lights, ringing phones, car alarms, detour signs) to pinpoint the terminal; the cues stop once a terminal is collected. If you finish a sweep one short, revisit each location area in turn and look for one whose cues are still active, which marks the terminal you missed.
Hub location 1 — Mombasa Streets: northeast corner of the western district, just east of the round blue structure; the northernmost western log. Look for a yellow phone on the left-hand side of the pit.
Hub location 2 — Mombasa Streets: center of the western district, south of location 1 and east of location 3. Look for an ATM on the raised platform in the open area; climb up onto the platform.
Hub location 3 — Mombasa Streets: west edge of the western district, level with location 2. Look for an ATM on the left-hand wall under the awning.
Hub location 4 — Mombasa Streets: western district, southwest of location 2 and north of location 5. Look for a telephone on the right side at the top of the stairs inside the building.
Hub location 5 — Mombasa Streets: lower-left of the western district, between locations 4 and 8. Look for an information booth at the side of the road.

Hub location 7 — Mombasa Streets: southeast corner of the western district, directly south of location 6. Look for near the Covenant shield blocking the road, an openable door beneath a yellow sign on the left; the phone is on the far side of the building.
Hub location 8 — Mombasa Streets: far west edge of the map at the southern end of the western district, west of location 9. Look for along a balcony, a grey openable door on the left wall; the terminal is the medical station inside.
Hub location 9 — Mombasa Streets: the street heading south out of the western district toward Uplift Reserve, below location 5. Look for at a dead end, an openable door beneath a yellow sign on the left; the terminal is in the gazebo in the centre of the area behind it.
Hub location 10 — Mombasa Streets: Uplift Reserve at the bottom of the map, south of location 9 and near the beacon there; the southernmost log. Look for the structure in the middle of the roundabout; clear the Covenant around it first.

Hub location 29 — Mombasa Streets: center of the Kikowani Station district, the northernmost hub log. Look for through the door under the red light, up the stairs, and along the hallway out onto the balcony; the phone is there.
Data Hive log — sub-level 9, phone on the far wall left of the door in Dr. Endesha's frozen office; appears only with all 29 hub logs held.
