▶Before You Start
Hellblade has 14 achievements worth 1,000 Gamerscore on the shared Xbox One / Xbox Series X|S list. There is no DLC and no title-update list. The Windows (Microsoft Store / PC Game Pass) version is a separate stack with identical achievements, so this route works there too.
▶At a Glance
- Thirteen achievements are story unlocks. You can't miss them by playing normally.
- The only real work is Stories From the North: activate all 44 Lorestones. Each one sits inside a specific area, and every area shuts behind you as the story moves on.
- Everything is offline and single-player. Nothing is discontinued or unobtainable.
- One playthrough is enough if you collect every Lorestone as you go.
- No achievement depends on difficulty. The game starts on Auto, and you can switch to Easy in the options at any time.
- The opening warning about the dark rot erasing your save is a bluff. The rot never reaches Senua's head and no progress is lost, so dying costs you nothing except a checkpoint reload.
- There is no New Game+ and no post-credits free roam.
▶Lorestones and Chapter Select
- A Lorestone is a tall carved standing stone. Focus on it while standing close. When a voice starts the story and a glyph lights up on the stone's ring, it's counted, and you can walk away without listening to the rest.
- Every Lorestone shows a ring of glyphs as a progress tracker. Lit glyphs are collected and red ones are still missing. Small dots split the ring into one group per area. Glyphs fill in the order you activate stones and change between playthroughs, so they won't match other people's screenshots, and a red glyph can't tell you which physical stone you skipped. Use the ring to count each area, and go by location to find stones.
- Progress only saves at checkpoints. If you die or quit to the menu before the next autosave, any Lorestone activated since the last save has to be activated again. There are no manual saves.
- Chapter select depends on your console. The Xbox Series X|S and Windows versions have it on the main menu. Once a chapter shows up there, the list shows how many Lorestones you've found in it, and replaying the chapter to pick up a missed stone counts toward the achievement. Which chapters are listed depends on how far your current save has progressed, and a save started before the enhanced update may not show every chapter until you've finished the game again.
- The Xbox One version has no chapter select. On Xbox One, every Lorestone is a true missable: if you leave an area without one, the only fix is a new game.
- Safest route on every version: finish each area's count before moving on. The area-end checks in this guide are mandatory on Xbox One. On Series X|S and Windows, chapter select is your safety net, not your plan.
- There is no map or detector. Each area section below lists its stones in the order you'll reach them, and the Collectibles section at the end has the full checklist.
▶Settings and Achievement Tracking
- CURRENTLY COMMUNITY-FLAGGED / BUGGY (as of October 2026): achievements sometimes don't unlock after the game has sat suspended in Quick Resume or rest mode. Missed achievements don't unlock later when you pass the same point again. Before each session, fully close Hellblade from the Xbox home screen and launch it fresh. This matters most before Stories From the North, since that achievement can't be re-earned by replaying the story beat.
- Headphones are strongly recommended. The Voices sometimes warn you about attacks coming from behind and hint at the solution to a puzzle.
▶The Road to Hel
▶The Shore to the Gate
▶Collectibles · 4 4 collectibles
Road to Hel 1 — Beside the landing spot, slightly right of the boat.
Road to Hel 2 — Base of the small waterfall under the bridge, before the climb.
Road to Hel 3 — End of the narrow beam over the cliff, past the first rune door.
Road to Hel 4 — Gate to Hel, right of the two doors, beside the cave exit.
There are 4 Lorestones between the boat and the Gate. The fourth sits in the Gate area itself.
- Right after you step off the boat, look slightly to the right in the open.
- Follow the coastline under the bridge. The stone is at the base of the small waterfall, right beside the way up. Get it before you climb.
- Past the first rune door, walk out along the narrow wooden beam over the cliff. The stone is at the end of the beam.
- At the Gate to Hel, after the first Northmen fight, the stone stands to the right of the two doors as you face them, beside the cave exit.
▶The Fight Begins
Unlocks automatically when you reach the Gate for the first time. You can't miss it.
▶The Trials of Valravn and Surtr
The Gate has two paths. The left one leads to Valravn's Illusion trial and the right one to Surtr's Fire trial. You need both bosses, and either order works. This route does Valravn first. Once one boss is down, the game sends you back to the Gate to take the other path. When the second boss falls, the way to the Bridge to Hel opens and the story moves past the Gate. Clear each trial's Lorestones before you fight its boss.
▶Valravn's Keep
▶Collectibles · 5 5 collectibles
Valravn's Keep 1 — Right side of the first fork, up the steps of the ruined tower.
Valravn's Keep 2 — Before the arena: remove the wall, unbar the doors, restore the wall, then climb the stairs and cross the balance beam.
Valravn's Keep 3 — On the ledge beside the circular arena, right after the fight.
Valravn's Keep 4 — Forest area after the arena, at the back opposite the inactive gateway on the right.
Valravn's Keep 5 — Crawl space under the crumbling ruin, opposite the wooden stairs.
There are 5 Lorestones. Valravn's trial is built around illusion gateways. Looking through a gateway changes what exists in the world, so several stones only become reachable after you remove or rebuild something with one.
- In the first area, take the right side of the fork and climb the steps of the ruined tower.
- Before the arena, in the area where Valravn's figure leads you on: use the gateway to remove a wall, slip through and unbar the doors on the far side, then go back to the gateway and restore the wall. Enter through the door you unbarred, climb the stone stairs and cross the balance beam to the stone. This is the easiest stone in the keep to miss.
- As soon as the circular arena fight ends, climb the nearby ledge.
- In the next area, the open forest where the raven symbols are lined up, look to your right on entry for an inactive gateway. The stone is at the back of the area, opposite that gateway, so turn around and check behind you.
- At the crumbling ruin, lower the bridge and use a gateway to open the wall. Crawl into the small space under the ruin. The stone is opposite the wooden stairs.
▶Master of Illusion
Unlocks when you defeat Valravn. He blinks in and out of sight. In the final phase you have to use focus to make him vulnerable, or your hits do nothing. Afterwards, return to the Gate and take the right-hand path.
▶Surtr's Domain
▶Collectibles · 5 5 collectibles
Surtr's Domain 1 — Small cave across the stream on the right fork at the start.
Surtr's Domain 2 — After the first Fire Door, left twice and down the slope before the blocked bridge.
Surtr's Domain 3 — Back of the burned forest under the bridge, right instead of the left tunnel.
Surtr's Domain 4 — Ground floor of the ruined house on the right after the second Fire Door.
Surtr's Domain 5 — Balcony of the second house in the final area, to the left after the bridge.
There are 5 Lorestones. Surtr's trial uses Fire Doors that burn the area as you move through it.
- Right at the start, take the right fork across the stream into a small cave opening.
- After the first Fire Door, before you cross the blocked bridge, go left, then left again at the fork, and head down the slope. The stone is in the corner at the bottom.
- While you hunt for the slabs that open the second Fire Door, go right instead of into the tunnel on the left. The stone is at the back of the burned forest, under the bridge.
- After the second Fire Door, cross the balance beam, drop down to your left and turn around. The stone is on the ground floor of the ruined house on the right.
- In the final area past the third Fire Door, climb into the first house and cross the bridge to the second. Turn left onto the second house's balcony for the stone.
▶Extinguished
Extinguished90G
Unlocks when you defeat Surtr. He's slow and hits hard, so dodge to the side and punish him with heavy attacks.
▶The Bridge to Hel and Shipwreck Shore
▶The Bridge to Hel Fortress
▶Collectibles · 2 2 collectibles
Bridge to Hel 1 — Balcony overlooking the ship, beside the first rune door.
Bridge to Hel 2 — Courtyard left of the rune door, down the ladders after the final symbol.
Once both bosses are down, you never come back to the Gate this run. The fortress opens with a short nightmare sequence and a few fights on the bridge, then the hall of rune doors. There are only 2 Lorestones here, but the second one is right next to the door that moves the story forward.
- After the Executioner fight, on the balcony overlooking the ship, right next to the first rune door.
- Once you've found the third and final rune symbol, climb down the ladders from the upper floor into the outdoor courtyard to the left of the rune door. The stone is there.
▶The Bridge
Past the final rune door, Senua walks the rest of the bridge until Hela appears, shatters her sword and casts her down into the water below.
▶Source of The Darkness
Unlocks when Hela appears on the bridge at the end of the Bridge to Hel fortress.
▶Shipwreck Shore
▶Collectibles · 6 6 collectibles
Shipwreck Shore 1 — By the broken wooden plank where you land on the beach.
Shipwreck Shore 2 — Below the large rune gate carved with the tree, near the bridge support.
Shipwreck Shore 3 — Through the hull of the white-flag wreck, behind rocks at the water's edge.
Shipwreck Shore 4 — Rock alcove in the shipwreck maze, right where the path curves left.
Shipwreck Shore 5 — Left side of the great tree, between two metal runestones.
Shipwreck Shore 6 — Back right of the great tree, past the Labyrinth runestone, behind rocks.
Senua is swordless from here until she pulls Gramr. There is no combat on the shore or in any of the four Shard Trials. There are 6 Lorestones here, two of them around the great tree. The shore is the hub for the Shard Trials, but clear all six before you start the first trial.
- When you drop down from the high ledge onto the beach, look beside the broken wooden plank on the shore.
- At the large rune gate carved with the great tree, near the bridge support. The stone is below the gate.
- After the ladder, walk past the wreck flying a white flag and go through the opening in its hull. The stone is behind the rocks at the water's edge.
- In the maze of overturned ships, where the path curves left, go right instead and turn around. The stone is in an alcove in the rocks.
- At the great tree, halfway round the left side, between two metal runestones.
- Around the back right of the great tree, past the Labyrinth's runestone, behind the large rocks.
▶The Shard Trials
Interacting with the great tree opens four trials, each reached through its own metal runestone around the tree. You can do them in any order, and all four are required. This route uses the common Labyrinth, Tower, Swamp, Blindness order. As a rough guide, the Labyrinth runestone stands apart on the right of the tree, the Tower is on the left near the entrance, the Swamp is farther up the left side, and the Blindness runestone is along the roots on the right near the entrance. Focusing on a runestone shows which trial it leads to. Druth may say Gramr is ready after three trials, but you can't pull the sword until all four are done.
▶Labyrinth Shard Trial
▶Collectibles · 4 4 collectibles
Labyrinth 1 — Far left end of the arrival beach, between two rocks at the waterline.
Labyrinth 2 — Dead end with the shaft of light, beside the barred door.
Labyrinth 3 — Crossroads room with the tree-shaped floor map.
Labyrinth 4 — Unlit dead-end room off a wrong branch near the exit route.
There are 4 Lorestones. Two of them sit on dead ends, so this trial rewards taking the wrong turn. Inside the maze, rooms whose torches are already lit are ones you've explored, so keep lighting new ones until you've found all three inside.
- On arrival, go left along the shore, away from the flags, to the far end of the beach. The stone stands at the waterline between two big rocks.
- Inside, turn left twice to reach the dead end with a shaft of light. The stone is beside the barred door there.
- In the room with a tree-shaped map carved into the floor, the stone stands at the crossroads.
- Off the path to the exit, a wrong branch leads to an unlit dead-end room. The stone is inside.
▶Escaped
Escaped30G
Unlocks when you complete the Labyrinth Shard Challenge and claim its shard.
▶Tower Shard Trial
▶Collectibles · 6 6 collectibles
Tower 1 — Past, outside in the corner beside the main entrance gate.
Tower 2 — Past, ground floor by the long dining table.
Tower 3 — Present, ground floor at the back near the broken stairs.
Tower 4 — Present, second floor at the top of the stairs.
Tower 5 — Past, third-floor walkway between the two balcony doors.
Tower 6 — Past, third-floor balcony where the final rune is found.
There are 6 Lorestones, spread across the Past (bright and intact) and Present (dark and ruined) versions of the fortress tower. Switching between the two changes which walls, stairs and bridges exist.
- Past: outside, after crossing the bridge and climbing the steps, in the corner beside the main entrance gate.
- Past: on the ground floor, by the long dining table.
- Present: on the ground floor, at the back near the broken stairs.
- Present: on the second floor, at the top of the stairs, with the rune door ahead of you.
- Past: on the third floor, on the inner walkway between the two balcony doors.
- Past: on the third floor, out on the balcony where you find the final rune.
▶Different Perspectives
Unlocks when you complete the Tower Shard Challenge.
▶Swamp Shard Trial
▶Collectibles · 2 2 collectibles
Swamp 1 — Behind an illusion gate near the wooden watchtower in the first area.
Swamp 2 — Right side of the main house's hall, opposite the three-symbol door. Get it before reading the door glyphs.
There are only 2 Lorestones here, but the second one is the most commonly missed stone in the game.
- In the first swamp area, behind one of the illusion gates near the wooden watchtower and its steps.
- Inside the glowing main house you reach after repairing the bridge, on the right side of the hall, opposite the three-symbol door.
▶Cure For The Plague
Unlocks when you complete the Swamp Shard Challenge.
▶Blindness Shard Trial
There are no Lorestones in this trial. It takes place mostly in darkness, so lean on sound. Keep the headphones on, follow the Voices, and move slowly.
▶Trust Your Senses
Unlocks when you complete the Blindness Shard Challenge.
▶Gramr
Before pulling the sword, check the ring on any Lorestone. Every group through the Swamp should be fully lit, which is 34 stones so far. Pulling the sword sends you straight into the Sea of Corpses, and you can't return to the shore or any trial afterwards.
▶Gramr Released
Unlocks when you pull Gramr out of the great tree after completing all four Shard Challenges.
▶The Sea of Corpses and Helheim
▶The Sea of Corpses
There are no Lorestones here. This is a long string of fights and your first combat with Gramr. Some enemies arrive wrapped in shadow and shrug off normal hits. Break that protection first with focus, a charged heavy attack, or a well-timed parry, then attack. If it's grinding you down, switch the difficulty to Easy in the options.
▶Warrior
Warrior50G
Unlocks when you escape the Sea of Corpses.
▶Helheim
▶Collectibles · 6 6 collectibles
Helheim 1 — Directly ahead as you enter the mountain.
Helheim 2 — Cave with the shaft of light, back toward the entrance near the water; light it with the torch.
Helheim 3 — Crumbling-wall opening left of the door at the top of the stairwell.
Helheim 4 — Among the crucified corpses, right after the narrow beam past the dousing waterfall.
Helheim 5 — Left wall beside the red rune door, after dropping into the cavern.
Helheim 6 — Tunnel past the red rune door, before Fenrir's lair.
After the Sea of Corpses, head back through the shipwreck tunnel to the broken bridge. The large door there is now open and leads into Helheim. There are 6 Lorestones inside the mountain. Several are in dark caves you explore by torchlight, and some can only be seen once your torch lights them.
- Directly in front of you as you step inside the mountain.
- Down in the caves, once you have the torch, light the torches in the shaft of light. Then look back toward where you first entered the cave, near the water, and light the area with your torch to reveal the stone.
- Up the stairwell where you got the torch, look to the left of the door. The stone is in an opening in the crumbling wall, up a climbable ledge.
- Past the waterfall that puts out your torch, relight it and cross the narrow beam. The stone is to the right among the crucified corpses.
- Take the left path and drop into the cavern. The stone is on the left wall beside the door marked with the red rune.
- In the tunnel just past that door, on the way down to Fenrir's lair.
▶Into the Mountain
Unlocks when you enter Helheim through the opened door at the broken bridge after escaping the Sea of Corpses. It pops at the start of this section, well before the stones above are finished.
▶Fenrir
Fenrir is fast and keeps blinking out of reach. Stay inside the lit part of the arena, and when he vanishes into the darkness, get ready to dodge his lunge. Use focus often to slow him down and open him up for hits.
▶Tamed the Beast
Unlocks when you defeat Fenrir.
▶Hela's Sanctum and the Ending
▶After Fenrir
▶Collectibles · 4 4 collectibles
Hela's Sanctum 1 — Base of the spiral staircase after climbing out of the pit.
Hela's Sanctum 2 — Right of the barred door behind you after the bridge cutscene.
Hela's Sanctum 3 — Open prison cell on the right after dissolving the illusion wall.
Hela's Sanctum 4 — Top of the tall spiral staircase from the prisons.
The last 4 Lorestones are in the climb toward Hela, spread through the pit, the prison cells and the long wooden bridge. This is your last chance to collect anything before the ending.
- Climb out of the pit using the ladder on the left wall and keep to the right into the room with the spiral staircase. The stone is at the base of the stairs.
- After the cutscene facing the great wooden bridge, turn around. The stone is to the right of the barred door behind you.
- Repair the first section of the bridge, stand on it and line up the floating shards to dissolve the illusion wall. The stone is in the open prison cell on the right at the bottom of the stairs.
- At the top of the tall spiral staircase leading up from the prisons, before the bridge is complete.
▶Stories From the North
Unlocks when you activate the 44th Lorestone. It pops the moment the last stone lights, but as a cheap safety net, keep moving to the next autosave before you quit. With all 44 found, the final rune gate before Hela plays a short extra scene in which Druth tells one last story. That scene is the reward, not the trigger, and the ending itself is the same either way.
If the achievement hasn't unlocked after the fourth stone here, check the ring for red glyphs to see which area's group is short, then use the cleanup section at the end of this guide after you finish the story.
▶Hela
The final fight comes in phases: waves of Northmen, then shadow versions of Surtr, Valravn and Fenrir, then the final platform with Hela and endless enemies. Fight through the early waves, but the battle can't be won by killing everything. When the enemies on the final platform become endless, stop fighting and let them bring Senua down. That ends the fight and plays the ending.
▶The Final Battle
The Final Battle100G
Unlocks at the end of the Hela fight, around the moment Senua falls and the ending begins. You can't miss it. If it hasn't appeared by the time the credits roll, check that you launched the game fresh (see Before You Start) and watch through the credits before closing.
▶Cleanup and Troubleshooting
▶Missed Lorestones
Use this only if Stories From the North didn't unlock. Chapter select exists only on Xbox Series X|S and Windows.
- Once the chapter appears in chapter select, compare its Lorestone count with the total for that area in this guide.
- Load the chapter that's short and replay it, activating every stone in it, not just the one you think you missed. Glyphs fill in activation order, so the red glyph won't tell you which stone is missing. Activating them all makes sure the missing one counts.
- Reach the next autosave after the last stone before you quit to the menu.
▶Stories From the North
Unlocks the moment your total reaches 44, including stones picked up on a chapter-select replay. The Swamp house stone and the Valravn's Keep stone behind the wall-and-gateway puzzle are the two most likely culprits.
The Xbox One version has no chapter select, so the only way to recover a missed stone there is a new game. Collected stones carry over, so play to the short area and activate every stone in it. Activating the others along the way is a cheap safety net.
▶Achievements Not Unlocking
- Fully close the game from the Xbox home screen and launch it fresh. Achievements that were skipped while the game was suspended do not pop retroactively when you reload a save past that point.
- For a missed story achievement on Series X|S or Windows, use chapter select to replay the chapter where it unlocks, with the game freshly launched.
