▶Before You Start
LIMBO on Xbox One has 13 achievements worth 1,000 Gamerscore. This guide covers the native Xbox One version, which also runs on Xbox Series X|S. The Windows version has its own separate list with the same 13 achievements, so this route works there too. The original Xbox 360 release has a different list: 12 achievements, 200G, no DING!, and slightly different wording. It isn't covered here.
- Online: none. Everything is single-player and offline.
- Unobtainable: nothing, as of 2026-10-05.
- Missables: none permanently. Once you finish the game, every chapter can be loaded from chapter select, so any skipped egg can be collected later.
- Achievement types: ten for hidden eggs, one for finishing the game, one (DING!) for a secret level that opens once you have all ten eggs, and one (No Point in Dying) for a one-sitting run with five or fewer deaths.
- Playthroughs: two in practice. The first is a normal run where you collect the eggs as you go. The second is a dedicated No Point in Dying run started with Start New Game, because chapter select doesn't count for that run.
▶Completion Plan
- Play the story once from the beginning and collect each egg as you reach it. Deaths don't matter on this run.
- After the credits, check that all ten egg achievements have unlocked. Use chapter select to pick up any you missed.
- Load Chapter 26 and complete the secret level for DING!.
- Practise the hard late-game sections with chapter select. Then do the No Point in Dying run from Start New Game.
▶How Eggs Work
Each egg is a small glowing light, usually tucked off the main path. Walk or run into it to crack it, and its achievement unlocks.
The game has no egg counter, so use your achievement list as the tracker and check it after each egg. After collecting an egg, keep playing until you reach the next checkpoint before you quit or reload. A reported Xbox edge case can unlock an egg's achievement without the egg being saved if you die before the next checkpoint. The ten candles at the DING! gate show how many eggs your save has actually recorded.
Chapter numbers in this guide follow the Xbox One chapter select, which uses 40-chapter numbering. Older Xbox 360 guides number the chapters differently, so ignore their numbers. Some eggs sit right on the border between two chapters. Where that happens, this guide gives both numbers.
▶The Main Playthrough
Play normally and die as often as you need to. The only goal on this run is to grab every egg on the way through. The eggs are listed in the order you reach them.
▶Chapter 1: Waking Up
▶Wrong Way
Wrong Way70G
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Wrong Way — Chapter 1. Go left from the starting spot.
The first egg is right at the start. When the boy stands up, go left instead of right. The egg is on the ground a short walk away. Step on it, then turn around and continue the game to the right.
▶Chapter 4: The Forest Log
▶Altitude is Attitude
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Altitude is Attitude — Chapter 4. Hidden rope to the left of the branch where you push the log down.
In the forest section, use the crate to climb the trees and push the broken log down from its branch.
From that branch, look left for a rope that is hard to see in the foliage. Make a running jump to grab it, then swing up to the higher platform on the left, where the egg sits.
▶Chapters 5 to 18: No Eggs
There are no eggs from Chapter 5 until the flooding room in Chapter 19. Keep playing the story until you reach it.
▶Chapter 19 (some guides say 20): The Flooding Room
▶It's Stuck
It's Stuck70G
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
It's Stuck — Chapter 19. Push the floating pipe right, jump left from it to the hidden rope, and the egg drops onto the pipe.
This egg comes right after the brain-worm section in the room where the water rises. Finish that sequence first, then climb back down to the water.
- Push the floating pipe out to the right as far as it goes. About three-quarters of it should be over the water, with its left end only just touching the platform.
- Climb onto the pipe and make a running jump back to the left. You'll grab a rope that is partly hidden by the scenery.
- While you hang on the rope, an egg falls out of the pipe above and lands on the floating pipe.
- Drop onto the floating pipe and step on the egg.
If the pipe drifts out of reach, reload the checkpoint and try again.
▶Chapter 24: The Lift Room
▶Urban Exploration
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Urban Exploration — Chapter 24. Ride on top of the lift, jump left to the rope near the top, and the egg lands on the ground to the right.
In the room with the lift and a box:
- Drag the box onto the lift, ride it up, and leave the box on the upper platform.
- Send the lift back down.
- Use the box to climb onto the top of the lift, then ride the lift up again.
- When the lift is near the top and you have barely enough headroom, jump left onto the hanging rope. Grabbing it knocks the egg out of a pipe high above.
- Drop back onto the lift and down to the ground. The egg lands on the ground to the right. Step on it.
▶End of Chapter 25 / Start of Chapter 26: The Dark Cave
▶Alone in the Dark
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Alone in the Dark — End of Chapter 25 (replay from Chapter 26). In the dark cave right of the ladder's base, jump right when you hear water.
At the end of Chapter 25 there is a ladder leading up and out. Don't climb it. At the bottom of the ladder, walk right into the dark cave.
- Replaying with chapter select: load Chapter 26 (its preview shows a giant fly and a broken ladder). You start at the top of that ladder. Go left, climb down it, then walk right into the cave.
The cave is nearly pitch black, so play by sound. Walk right. The moment you hear the boy step into water, jump to the right. He catches a hidden ledge and climbs up. Keep going right to the egg.
Leaving the cave: walk back left and climb the ladder.
The sealed gate further along this cave is the entrance to the DING! secret level. It opens only once all ten eggs are collected and the game is finished, so leave it for now.
▶Chapter 27: The Cog and the Lever
▶Climbing the Cog
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Climbing the Cog — Chapter 27. Don't pull the lever. Cross the giant cog to its far side.
- Use the box to climb up to the platform with the lever. Leave the lever alone.
- From the lever platform, jump right onto the giant cog.
- Climb across to the opposite side of the cog, where the egg sits.
▶Chapter 30 (end) / Chapter 31: The Crushers
▶Backtracking
Backtracking70G
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Backtracking — End of Chapter 30 (or backtrack from Chapter 31). Ride the second crusher up, take the ladder, and go right under the cog.
This egg is by the second crusher in the conveyor section. It's the crusher that rises next to a hanging ladder.
- Get rid of the brain worm as normal, but don't continue right yet.
- Use the crates to climb back up to the second crusher.
- Hang on the crusher's left side and ride it up.
- At the top, jump across to the hanging ladder and climb it.
- Go right. The egg sits under a turning cog.
Optional: if you set the nearby switch so the cog above the egg turns counter-clockwise, walking underneath it is safer.
- Replaying with chapter select: loading Chapter 31 and heading back left to the same crusher is easier, because it skips the brain worm. Loading Chapter 30 and playing to the end of it also works.
▶Chapter 32: The Electric Wall
▶Guided by Sparks
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Guided by Sparks — Chapter 32. Crate against the electric wall, jump left to the hidden platform, then right to the ledge.
Right after the rotating-room puzzle, look for a hard-to-spot wooden crate near the electrified wall on the right.
- Push the crate up against the wall and climb onto it. Don't touch the electricity.
- Jump left onto a hidden platform that is almost invisible against the background.
- From that platform, jump right onto the ledge above the electric wall, where the egg sits.
▶Chapter 34: The Elevator Shaft
▶Under Ground
Under Ground70G
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Under Ground — Chapter 34. Hang off the edge beside the elevator and climb down the chain to the bottom.
- Go right to the elevator but don't ride it.
- At the edge beside it, press down to hang off.
- Jump to the chain and climb down. Let go only once the remaining drop is short.
- Step on the egg at the bottom.
▶Chapter 38: Timed Gravity
▶Going Up
Going Up70G
▶Collectibles · 1 1 collectible
Going Up — Chapter 38. Flip gravity, run left along the ceiling into the hidden room, and pull the handle.
This is the last egg in the game, and it's timed. The gravity panel is at the entrance to the room, with a box nearby.
- Hit the gravity panel. Gravity flips, and you and the box fall up to the ceiling. The effect only lasts a short time.
- The box rides up to the ceiling with you. Position it so you can use it to climb back out toward the left, away from the entrance. The common method is to nudge it right, come back past the panel, and hit the panel again to refresh the timer before heading left.
- Run quickly left along the ceiling. You fall up into a small hidden room above and to the left of the entrance.
- Pull the handle on the left wall. The egg drops out. Step on it as soon as it lands.
If gravity flips back before you get there, hit the panel again and retry. Make sure the achievement has unlocked before you head on to the ending.
▶Chapters 39 and 40: The Ending
▶Where Credit is Due
Finish the game. After the glass breaks, let the ending play and don't skip the credits. The achievement unlocks at the end of the credits.
Finishing the game opens chapter select for every chapter. Check your achievement list now. If any egg is missing, load the chapter listed above and collect it again. DING! needs all ten.
▶Post-Game: The Secret Level
▶Chapter 26: Behind the Gate
▶DING!
DING!100G
Required: finish the game once and collect all ten egg achievements. No Point in Dying is not needed. Check your achievement list before you start. An egg can occasionally be collected while its Xbox achievement is delayed or fails to pop immediately.
- Load Chapter 26.
- Head left and climb down the ladder, then follow the dark cave right past the Alone in the Dark spot.
- A ledge that looks like a dead end can be jumped.
- Beyond it is a candle-lit clearing with the gate. Each egg lights one of the ten candles, so with all ten the gate is open.
- Walk through. The gate closes behind you.
If the gate is closed even though all ten egg achievements have unlocked, count the lit candles. Fewer than ten means your save is missing at least one egg. Revisit the ten egg locations in this guide and collect each one again, reaching the next checkpoint after every egg, until all ten candles are lit.
The secret level takes about 15–20 minutes and is almost completely dark. Often only the boy's eyes are visible, so turn the volume up or use headphones and time hazards by sound. Deaths here don't affect any achievement.
The hazards come in this order:
- A hidden machine gun sits below a lit platform. Jump from the platform up to the ledge above it before it fires.
- A brain worm drops on you and forces you back and forth between the lights. To get it off, push a crate left in the dark, then use it to reach the growth on the ceiling near the gun.
- Two lit ladders, each guarded by a turret. Wait for the burst to stop before climbing. If you hear a gun warming up, move up or down.
- A huge swinging saw. Hang in the gap in the middle ledge while it passes, then cross and drop off the far side.
- Sparking saws on the ceiling. Ride the moving platform between them, hanging off its end to duck under the blades.
- A large saw that moves up and down, then two unlit vertical saws. Listen for the timing, then run through.
- A flaming tyre. Dodge it, follow it down the passage, then jump the small flaming rock and the gap.
- A slide with saws. Jump the saws on the slope.
- Three small floor saws in pits. The third one is unlit. Time each by sound and jump it.
- A glowing egg. It isn't linked to an achievement, so collecting it is optional.
- Two ceiling machine guns open fire on either side of you. Stay in the gap between the bullet streams as they move right, jump the pits, and climb the stepped platforms.
- The lift. Climb the ladder on the right. At the top, run to the lift control. Press it when the second gun's bullets are about to reach the top of the ladder, then ride the lift up.
The achievement unlocks when you leave the secret level on the lift. The lift drops you into Chapter 34.
▶Final Run: No Point in Dying
▶Rules for the Run
▶No Point in Dying
Finish the whole game in one sitting with five or fewer deaths. Exactly five deaths still counts. The sixth ends the attempt.
Required:
- Start the run from Start New Game. Starting from chapter select doesn't count, even from Chapter 1. Starting a new game doesn't lock your chapter select.
- Don't quit to the main menu or close the game during the run. Quitting voids the attempt.
- Keep your own tally. There is no death counter in the game.
- The game won't stop you after the sixth death, but the run is already void. Start a fresh new game rather than playing on.
Allowed:
- Pausing from the in-game menu, even for longer breaks.
Safest route:
- Avoid console sleep. Xbox One community guidance warns that resuming after sleep can break the one-sitting requirement. Quick Resume on Series X|S is UNVERIFIED, so avoid it and don't switch to other games mid-run either. If you need a break, pause in-game and leave the game running.
- Skip the Chapter 26 dark cave during this run. The secret level is long and dangerous, and this achievement doesn't need it.
There is no known checkpoint reload or cloud-save trick that undoes a death. Plan to restart with a new game rather than salvage a bad run.
Let the ending and credits play out. The achievement unlocks at the end of the game.
▶Practice First
A clean run takes roughly an hour. The first half of the game is mostly scripted and forgiving, and most failed attempts die in the last third. Before your attempt, use chapter select to practise these spots until you can do them every time:
- The HOTEL sign, both visits (Chapters 21 and 37). The flickering electric letters are the most common run-killer, so watch the full on/off cycle first. In Chapter 21, make a running jump onto the letter just as it switches back on, and keep moving without stopping on it. In Chapter 37, a gravity switch sits on the H. When the H lights, wait a beat before jumping and hitting the switch.
- Stomping machines with two buttons. Don't touch the first button; step on the second. Mixing up the order is a common late death.
- Saw-blade and crate puzzles. On the first saw, press the button and hold back until the crate drops before you jump. Push or ride crates carefully rather than rushing.
- The two-crate, two-claw puzzle (mid-game). Press the left button, wait until the first crate is almost dropping, then press the right.
- The rotating rooms and electric floors. Push the mine cart rather than pulling it, and take the tight ledge jump slowly.
- The final timed gravity sections at the end of the game. Most late runs fail at the turret room and the final gravity jump. Learn exactly when to jump relative to the gravity switch and the turret pulses.
▶Running It
- Select Start New Game.
- Wait out a full cycle of every trap before committing, and play with good audio. Several late-game hazards are easier to time by sound.
- Aim to reach the first HOTEL sign (Chapter 21) with no more than one death. That leaves four for the hard final third. If you've already died twice or more before the sign, it's usually quicker to restart than to push on.
- Finish the game and let the ending play out.

▶Achievement Eggs
10 in the game
Each of the ten eggs unlocks its own achievement. You collect an egg by walking into it. All ten are needed to open the DING! secret level in Chapter 26. Every egg can be recollected from chapter select after you finish the game. The glowing egg inside the secret level isn't one of these ten and isn't needed.
Wrong Way — Chapter 1. Go left from the starting spot.
Altitude is Attitude — Chapter 4. Hidden rope to the left of the branch where you push the log down.
It's Stuck — Chapter 19. Push the floating pipe right, jump left from it to the hidden rope, and the egg drops onto the pipe.
Urban Exploration — Chapter 24. Ride on top of the lift, jump left to the rope near the top, and the egg lands on the ground to the right.
Alone in the Dark — End of Chapter 25 (replay from Chapter 26). In the dark cave right of the ladder's base, jump right when you hear water.
Climbing the Cog — Chapter 27. Don't pull the lever. Cross the giant cog to its far side.
Backtracking — End of Chapter 30 (or backtrack from Chapter 31). Ride the second crusher up, take the ladder, and go right under the cog.
Guided by Sparks — Chapter 32. Crate against the electric wall, jump left to the hidden platform, then right to the ledge.
Under Ground — Chapter 34. Hang off the edge beside the elevator and climb down the chain to the bottom.
Going Up — Chapter 38. Flip gravity, run left along the ceiling into the hidden room, and pull the handle.
