▶Before You Start
Neon Abyss 2 has 32 achievements worth 1,000 Gamerscore on one list for Xbox Series X|S and PC (Xbox Play Anywhere, including Game Pass). There is no Xbox One version. All 32 achievements are base game. The Archenemy Returns and Supporter Pack add-ons have no achievements and are not needed for anything on this list.
- Online and co-op: Not required. Online co-op for 2-4 players exists, but no achievement needs it. Play solo for this route. It has not been confirmed that every agent task counter and Blackdog experience progresses for a client, so solo is the safe choice. A 1.0 patch fixed co-op progress bugs, and online co-op wins go to a separate counter, so they do not count toward win-count tasks such as the one that unlocks the Family Heirloom fate card.
- Missables: None. Everything is a repeatable run goal or a cumulative counter.
- Playthroughs: This is a roguelite, so "playthroughs" means runs. The boss chain alone needs roughly 10 successful runs to the late floors, plus however many failed runs it takes to get there. You will finish the Blackdog Level grind on top of that.
- Difficulty: No achievement needs a specific difficulty. Easy is fine for every boss. Higher difficulties multiply the experience you earn, which matters for the final Blackdog Level grind.
- Hardest parts: The god boss chain (each boss unlocks the next, and some need special conditions during the run), Ironclad Rock (7 shields at once in one run), Blossoms Like a Dream (the final boss, Theia), and Elevated Access (Blackdog Level 50).
- Biggest route trap: The Dark Aphrodite and Theia steps on the Hermes route depend on how many Hatchmon you have when you beat Hermes and move on to the next floor. Read that section before you start the Hermes runs.
▶How Runs and Unlocks Work
Each run goes down through numbered floors, each ending in a boss. Floor 5 ends with a Manager god. After floor 5 you reach a safehouse with portals, where you choose your route for floors 6 and beyond. Every new boss is unlocked by beating the one before it, and an unlock only takes effect on your next run, never partway through the current one.
The god boss chain is:
- God of Hackers (Trojan), then God of AI (Talos) at floor 5.
- The Apollo portal: GOD OF EDM (Apollo) on floor 6, then Eris on floor 7, then Dark Eris, then Hyperion on floor 8.
- The Hermes portal (opens after Hyperion): Hermes on floor 6, then Aphrodite on floor 7, then Dark Aphrodite, then Theia on floor 8.
The Zeus and Dark Zeus portals lead to Archenemy Returns bosses that no achievement needs. Skip them.
Agent unlocks are claimed, not automatic. Each agent has a task in the Bar's Task screen. When the task completes, go to the Task screen and claim it to unlock the agent. The achievement is expected to pop when the agent unlocks. Claim every finished task as soon as you are back in the Bar. The Task screen also shows your progress on every counter, so check it whenever you want to know how close you are. If a boss doesn't seem to have unlocked the next one, check the boss kill records in the Agent Profile to confirm which bosses you have actually beaten.
Your Blackdog Level is your account level. It rises from experience earned at the end of each run, win or lose. That experience comes from bosses you beat: deeper bosses are worth much more, and the total is multiplied by difficulty (about x1.25 on Normal, x1.5 on Hard and x1.8 on Abyssal compared to Easy). Experience from bosses you beat is kept even if you die later in the run, and leftover experience carries over to the next level. Levelling up also gives evolution points to spend on the Bar's evolution tree, which unlocks new faiths, rooms, and items. The tree is split into pages, and each page only opens once every node on the earlier pages is lit, so nodes on pages 3 and 4 arrive late. Do not plan around rushing one specific node.
Difficulty is set at the difficulty machine in the Bar. Easy is open from the start. Abyssal unlocks once you beat Hyperion on Hard and then claim the "Game Start" task. For the experience grind, switch to Hard once the difficulty machine offers it.
▶Status Notes
- Quick Resume floor loop (CURRENTLY COMMUNITY-FLAGGED / BUGGY, as of October 2026): On Xbox Series X|S, resuming the game through Quick Resume can make it reload the floor you just cleared over and over after the boss, and some players were sent back to the tutorial. The developer has said it is looking into it, and no fix has been confirmed. Before you leave the game, finish or exit the run and return to the main menu, then fully close the game. Do not suspend it mid-run. If you get stuck in a loop, fully close and relaunch. The game reloads from the start of that floor.
- Hyperion second phase (CURRENTLY COMMUNITY-FLAGGED / BUGGY, limited reports, October 2026): A few players report Hyperion's second phase failing to advance, which leaves the fight stuck. If it happens, fully close the game and relaunch to retry from the start of the floor. This isn't guaranteed to fix every case.
- Saves: The game saves at the start of each floor and syncs through Xbox cloud saves. There is no practical manual backup on console, and none is needed because nothing is missable.
- PC developer console: The Windows version has a developer console that can unlock every achievement directly. See Optional Windows Shortcut below.
▶Optional Windows Shortcut
On Windows, the Xbox app / PC Game Pass version of the game has a developer console that can unlock all 32 achievements directly, for the full 1,000 Gamerscore, in a reported five minutes or so once you are set up. Because the game uses Xbox Play Anywhere, these unlocks count on the same Xbox achievement list as the console version. Players confirmed it working in October 2026, but whether it still works depends on future patches. It is not an official feature, the developers reportedly know about it, and a future patch could remove it. It has not been confirmed to work on Xbox consoles.
- Install and launch Neon Abyss 2 through the Xbox app on Windows.
- Finish the opening tutorial and start an actual run.
- Press F1 to open the console. On some keyboards, \ or ~ also works.
- Type admin and press Enter.
- Type PlatformAchievementUnlock 1 and press Enter. Repeat for every number from 2 through 32, one command at a time, pressing Enter after each.
Each number unlocks one achievement, so do not skip any of them. When you are done, check the game's achievement list in the Xbox app or on your profile and confirm it shows 32/32. If any are missing, rerun the commands for those numbers and give the unlocks a few minutes to sync. Using the console can stop that run's achievements from triggering normally, so don't open it during runs you are playing for real. Console players, and anyone who would rather earn the list normally, should follow the route below, which is unaffected.
▶First Runs to Floor 5
▶The First Runs
Play Nik, the default agent, on Easy or Normal. The opening achievements come from simply getting deeper. Take any faith offered on the early floors to learn how the faith bar works, since faiths become important for the boss chain.
▶First Blood
First Blood15G
Die in a run. This happens on its own sooner or later. If you are doing well, it will still come from your first failed run.
▶Into the Abyss
Pass Level 1. Beat the floor 1 boss and go through the exit.
▶In the Zone
In the Zone15G
Pass Level 2. Clear floor 2 the same way.
▶Baptism of Fire
Pass Level 3. Clear floor 3.
▶Chaos Unleashed
Pass Level 4. Clear floor 4. From floor 5 onward, every hit costs a full heart instead of half, so start picking up shields and extra hearts before you go further.
▶Upgrade Initiated
Reach Blackdog Level 2. Your first one or two runs that kill a boss will do it. Spend your evolution points on the Bar's evolution tree as they come in.
▶Reaching Floor 5
▶Showing Promise
Unlock Saya. Her task is "Reach Floor 5", which completes as you go through the floor 4 exit. Claim it in the Task screen to unlock her. Saya is part of the base game: her task is not locked behind the Supporter Pack, which only adds a skin for her.
▶Hacker Crisis
Defeat God of Hackers. On your first run to floor 5, the Manager is always Trojan, the God of Hackers, because no other Manager is unlocked yet. Beating him also completes a task that unlocks the Bar's ban system, which you will want for Treasure Hunter.
▶The Heretic Awakens
Pass Level 5. This comes with your first floor 5 Manager kill.
▶Start the Cumulative Agent Tasks Now
These tasks count across every run, so they will finish over the course of the boss chain without much extra effort. Glance at the Task screen between runs, and claim each one as soon as it completes.
▶Freshly Hatched
Unlock Elise. Required: hatch 8 eggs, counted across all runs. Eggs only hatch from things that add hatching progress, such as the Lightbulb curio (which hatches an egg immediately) and the Agapeism faith's egg rooms. Once you have Elise, she is a good pick for the Hatchmon-heavy Dark Aphrodite run later.
▶Weapon Virtuoso
Unlock James. Required: use 30 different weapons, counted across all runs. Only different weapons add to the count, so picking up a second copy of a weapon you have already used won't help. Pick up every new weapon you find, even if you swap straight back. Once the fate card system is unlocked (Weaving Fate on evolution page 1), the Fire Support fate card, which unlocks after 3 wins, starts each run with an extra random weapon.
▶Magic Appreciation
Unlock Lucia. Required: pick up 30 different curios (the crystal-cost active items), counted across all runs. Pick up every curio you see, even ones you don't plan to use. This will finish during normal play.
▶Treasure Hunter
Unlock Cassie. Required: open 100 locked chests. It counts across runs. Keep spare keys for locked chests and open every one you find. A faster method, once you have the ban system and the Thesaurism (treasure) faith from the evolution tree, comes in the cleanup section.
▶Magic Jar
Magic Jar15G
Unlock Tino. Required: use 30 Wonder Jars, counted across runs. With default controls, press Y to select your jar and RB to use it on a controller, or Q, then F on keyboard. Codex → Items → Hexjars explains what each jar does. A jar only counts when its effect actually goes off, so use jars where their effect can apply, such as in a room with enemies or pickups, rather than just pressing the button anywhere. Use every Wonder Jar you find. Reportedly, 9 jar types do not add to the count (Chip, Golden Pig, Matryoshka, Mystery Box, Shovel, Smiley, Snack, Black Card, and Mask), and jars used in the Bar do not count either. This has not been confirmed in play, so go by the Task screen counter rather than counting throws yourself. The fast method is in the cleanup section.
▶The Apollo Route
▶The Second Manager
▶Silicon Nirvana
Defeat God of AI. Once Trojan is beaten, the floor 5 Manager is drawn at random at the start of each run from every Manager you have unlocked. That pool includes Trojan and Talos, the God of AI. No way to force Talos has been found, so keep running until he shows up. Beating Talos unlocks the Apollo portal at the safehouse.
▶Apollo
Before you fight Apollo, know the faith rule. Beating Apollo with a faith active reportedly lets the portal carry the run on to floor 7, while beating him with no faith sends you back to the Bar. On normal runs, take a faith from a floor pedestal and do not fill it and cash it in at the faith's temple before the Apollo fight. On the Dark Eris run below, you cash in Psychedelism at its temple on an earlier floor for the Acid Token, but you still need Psychedelism active again on floor 6 when Apollo dies. On your very first Apollo kill this doesn't matter yet, because Eris is not unlocked, but get into the habit now.
▶Rhythmic Focus
Defeat GOD OF EDM. At the safehouse after floor 5, take the Apollo portal and beat Apollo on floor 6.
▶Prelude to Deicide
Pass Level 6. This should come from your first Apollo kill. If it doesn't, it will come on the Eris run, where the portal carries you on past floor 6.
▶Eris
On your next run, take the Apollo portal again and beat Apollo with a faith active. The portal takes you to Eris on floor 7.
▶Waking Dream
Waking Dream35G
Defeat God of Psychedelia. Beat Eris on floor 7. Dark Eris is a separate achievement and needs this kill first, so the regular Eris kill always comes first.
▶New Gods' Demise
Pass Level 7. This comes with your first Eris kill. It has not been confirmed whether other floor 7 bosses count, but the Eris route gets it with certainty, and you have to beat Eris anyway.
▶Dark Eris
Beating Eris completes the Sudden Clarity task. Claim it on the Task screen to unlock the Psychedelism faith. Dark Eris then needs one run that meets two conditions. Do both, because the exact trigger is described two ways:
- Take Psychedelism as your faith and keep it active through the Apollo fight on floor 6.
- On one of floors 1 to 5, fill the Psychedelism bar, enter its temple, and catch the butterfly carrying the Acid Token. The safehouse after floor 5 has no temple, and faith bars reset each floor, so the token has to come from an earlier floor. Most of the other butterflies hurt you, so go in with spare hearts and remember which one has the token.
Final checkpoint before Apollo: the Acid Token you picked up earlier stays with you, but cashing in the bar does not cover floor 6. On floor 6, make sure Psychedelism is your active faith again, and don't cash in that floor's bar before the fight. If both are done, Dark Eris replaces Eris on floor 7.
▶Eternal Dream
Defeat Dark Eris,God of Psychedelia. Beating Dark Eris ends the run, so you will not reach anything after her on this run.
▶Hyperion
Beating Dark Eris unlocks Hyperion. On the next run, take the Apollo portal and fight regular Eris. Pick any faith except Psychedelism, and don't pick up an Acid Token. Keep that faith active through Apollo, without cashing it in at a temple first, then beat Eris. Hyperion follows on floor 8. If his second phase stops advancing, see the Hyperion note in Status Notes.
▶Amusing Ourselves to Death
Defeat Hyperion, God of Entertainment. This also unlocks the Hermes portal for the next route.
▶Between Boss Runs: Levels and Single-Run Tasks
Your Blackdog Level climbs steadily through the Apollo route. Meanwhile, three agent tasks need everything to come together in a single run. Watch for the right pieces on every run from here on, and go for whichever task the run's items support. As you level, Weaving Fate (evolution page 1) opens fate cards, and Full of Energy is useful for Ironclad Rock. The Egg Device on page 2 helps with hatching for Elise and the Hermes route. The page 3 wisp nodes (Wisp Crate and Tenebrism) come late because of page gating, so don't wait for them.
▶Keep Accelerating
Reach Blackdog Level 10. This comes naturally during the Apollo route. The achievement is expected to pop when you reach the level. Claim the matching Blackdog Level task in the Task screen for its item reward either way. The claim is a separate in-game reward and isn't a confirmed fix if the achievement doesn't pop.
▶Performance Unleashed
Reach Blackdog Level 20. Usually reached around the end of the Apollo route or early in the Hermes route. Claim the matching task for its reward.
▶Ironclad Rock
Ironclad Rock100G
Unlock R-7. Required: have 7 shields at the same time in one run. Temporary shields do not count. Hearts and shields share a 12-slot cap, so you can only hold 7 shields if you have 5 or fewer heart containers. Nik starts with 3, which leaves plenty of room. Just avoid stacking extra heart containers on this run.
The big shield sources are:
- Cyborg Upgrade and the Cyberware Adapter curio: each removes a heart container and gives 3 shields.
- Miracle Bean: gives 4 shields. It is the reward for the Blackdog Level 5 task, so claim that task to add it to the item pool.
- Draft Paper and Inmost Light: 3 shields each.
- Full of Energy fate card: start the run with 2 shields per stack, up to 2 stacks. It needs Weaving Fate from evolution page 1. With both stacks equipped you only need one more big shield item.
The count is checked each time you gain a shield. Once a run has given you one or two of these items, play carefully, because getting hit takes away shields before hearts. Pick up every shield drop until you reach 7, then claim the task back in the Bar.
▶Explosive Spark
Unlock Mira. Required: use 30 bombs in one run. Every bomb you throw counts, and so do Detonator curio uses. Weapons that use bombs as ammo for their own attacks do not count. Soap Recipe (a rare shop item) gives 50 bombs on its own, which finishes this immediately. The Agent Pen item drops a fresh bomb whenever your last bomb explodes without breaking anything, so you can throw one bomb into open space over and over. Spring Mechanism gives 10 bombs, then 2 more each floor. Otherwise, save bombs over a run and spend them all once you hold enough.
▶Shadow Syndicate
Unlock Xuan. Required: have 10 purple wisps at the same time in one run. Only purple wisps count, not blue or gold. The best sources are the Kaiyuan Tongbao (1 purple wisp each time you spend coins), and the Auspicious Lantern (keeps purple wisps after a fight). Later, the Umbrism faith, unlocked by the Tenebrism node on evolution page 3, has a temple that converts wisps. Its exact rates are unconfirmed. The 1.0 Tao Unfolds set bonus also generates purple wisps every fight. It has not been confirmed whether those count for the task, but if you get the set, check the Task screen after the run.
▶The Hermes Route
From here, take the green Hermes portal at the safehouse. Which boss you face on floor 7 depends on how many Hatchmon you have when you beat Hermes and enter the next floor. Eggs do not count.
- Fewer than 10 Hatchmon when you beat Hermes and move on leads to regular Aphrodite on floor 7.
- At least 10 Hatchmon when you beat Hermes and enter the next floor, once regular Aphrodite has been beaten, leads to Dark Aphrodite instead.
▶Hermes and Aphrodite
On this run, keep your Hatchmon count low. Don't go out of your way to hatch eggs, and skip the Agapeism faith and the egg rooms.
▶Signal Lost
Signal Lost35G
Defeat Hermes, God of Messages. Beat Hermes on floor 6 of the Hermes route.
▶Broken Arrow, Lingering Heart
Defeat Aphrodite, Goddess of Seduction. With fewer than 10 Hatchmon at Hermes, the portal takes you to Aphrodite on floor 7. This kill unlocks Dark Aphrodite.
▶Dark Aphrodite
The official condition is to beat Hermes and enter the next floor while you have at least 10 Hatchmon. The count can drop when Hatchmon evolve or fuse (four fuse into a Super Hatchmon), and exactly 10 has not always been enough. Aim for 12 or more so you have a margin. Recheck your count right before the Hermes fight, and don't let anything fuse or die until you are through the portal to floor 7.
Build toward it all run:
- Play Elise if you have her.
- Take the Agapeism faith, which focuses on eggs, and visit Hatchmon temples and egg rooms on every floor.
- Use hatching items such as the Lightbulb curio, and the Egg Device from the evolution tree.
- Save coins and spend them on eggs and hatching just before Hermes.
▶Dark Temptation
Defeat Dark Aphrodite, Goddess of Seduction. With enough Hatchmon at Hermes, Dark Aphrodite replaces Aphrodite on floor 7. Beating her ends the run.
▶Theia
Beating Dark Aphrodite is what unlocks Theia, which is why this route does Dark Aphrodite first. If Theia ever appears after an earlier Aphrodite kill, fight her then anyway.
On the next run, take the Hermes portal with fewer than 10 Hatchmon so you get regular Aphrodite. Eggs don't matter here; your actual Hatchmon count does. The easiest way is to start the run planning to stay low: skip Agapeism and the egg rooms, and don't hatch eggs. Right before the Hermes fight, count your Hatchmon. If you have 10 or more, don't fight Hermes yet; bring the count down first. Players report being able to reverse-hatch Hatchmon to lower the count, but the exact steps on Xbox are unconfirmed, so starting low is the reliable method. Selling eggs alone does not lower your Hatchmon count. Beat Aphrodite on floor 7, and Theia waits on floor 8.
▶Blossoms Like a Dream
Defeat Theia, Goddess of Vanity. Theia is the new 1.0 final boss: a three-phase fight whose shattered mirrors and neon effects are designed to throw off your sense of direction. Bring as many hearts and shields as the run allows, plus spare bombs. Easy difficulty is a perfectly good choice for this run. If an attempt fails, you only need to get back to Aphrodite with fewer than 10 Hatchmon to try again.
▶Final Cleanup
▶Finishing the Cumulative Tasks
Check the Task screen for any agent task still unclaimed. Elise, James, and Lucia are usually done by now. Cassie and Tino are the ones most likely to need focused runs.
▶Treasure Hunter
Required: open 100 locked chests in total. For the fastest method, unlock the Thesaurism faith with the Treasure Dream node on evolution page 3. Then use the ban system (unlocked by beating Trojan) to ban the other faiths, so Thesaurism comes up on every floor. Its room spawns three locked chests, sometimes more, and its faith bar fills from picking up and using keys. Carry plenty of keys, and claim Cassie once the counter reaches 100.
▶Magic Jar
Magic Jar15G
Required: use 30 Wonder Jars that count toward the task. The evolution tree's Relic Utilization node (page 3) lets you break relics down into Hexjars, so pick it up and break down every relic you find. There is also a reported quick-reset loop: once you have Weaving Fate (evolution page 1) and the Family Heirloom fate card, which reportedly unlocks after 11 wins, start a run with it equipped, break down the starting relic, use the jar, and restart. This loop is not guaranteed, because a jar only counts when its effect goes off. After your first attempt, check the Task screen. Only keep repeating it if that attempt actually raised the counter; if it isn't, go back to using jars during normal runs.
▶Blackdog Level Grind
Whatever is left now is experience. Only bosses give experience, and deeper bosses are worth far more than early ones, so full runs to floors 7 and 8 earn much more than quick resets. Once the difficulty machine offers Hard (or Abyssal), raise the difficulty as soon as you can clear runs reliably there, because the experience multiplier is applied to the whole run. The game's hidden difficulty also eases off after losses, so a few failed Hard runs are not wasted. They still pay out for every boss you beat. Do not grind early floors: a reset after floor 1 is worth almost nothing.
▶Maximum Overload
Reach Blackdog Level 30. This often arrives before the end of the Hermes route. Claim the matching task for its reward.
▶Elevated Access
Reach Blackdog Level 50. This is the last achievement for most players. The experience needed per level rises as you go up, and the exact amount for the last levels is not documented. Level 50 is reachable, but expect a good number of deep runs past the end of the boss chain. Fully cleared Hermes route runs on the highest difficulty you can win (Hermes, Aphrodite, and Theia on floors 6 to 8) are the best experience per run. Keep claiming the Blackdog Level tasks as you pass each milestone, since they also add useful items to the pool. The achievement is expected to pop when you reach level 50.
