Completion Plan

SOPA - Tale of the Stolen Potato has 31 achievements worth 1,000G. This guide covers the Xbox Play Anywhere achievement list used on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox on PC.

The game is single-player only. There are no online, co-op, multiplayer, server-dependent, difficulty, New Game+, speedrun, or RNG achievement requirements. The current 31-achievement list has no DLC-only or title-update achievement group. One playthrough is enough if you follow the route below.

There is no chapter select in the current build. Once a one-shot window below has closed, the only recovery is a new game. The game does not save during the river. Once you have reached the dolphin rowing tutorial, you can retry the rest of the river by using the restore-last-checkpoint option in the pause menu, or by quitting to the main menu and choosing Continue. Either one returns you to the tutorial. This does not recover the opening boat section before the dolphin, so it cannot save a missed Hombre al Agua. Recovery is also not available once the river has ended.

  • CURRENTLY CONFIRMED UNOBTAINABLE: None as of 2026-10-14.
  • CURRENTLY CONFIRMED DISCONTINUED: None as of 2026-10-14.
  • PATCHED / NO LONGER A CURRENT ISSUE: An earlier Hombre al Agua unlock problem on Xbox has been patched.
  • CURRENTLY COMMUNITY-FLAGGED / BUGGY: The Chicken Bully counter can stall. Fully relaunching the game and pushing the chicken again unlocks it. Do this before waking the Shady Frog.

Treat the following as the one-shot windows:

  • the first Nana story before entering the pantry
  • Hombre al Agua in the opening boat section
  • the river set: Almost!, Cazador, Capitán, Navegante, and Close call
  • the first Black Market visit: Sapo, Artesano, and the Paper Charm before taking the free boat ride (Negociante)
  • Historiador inside the giant fish (treat it as potentially missable)
  • the second Nana story after planting the potato
  • Chicken Bully before waking the Shady Frog
  • the final Nana story before collecting cilantro
The hardest part is the river. Do not enter the whirlpool area until Almost!, Cazador, Capitán, and Navegante have all unlocked. Then beat the whirlpool for Close call. Hombre al Agua must be completed before the rowing tutorial begins.

Nana's House — First Visit

Before Entering the Pantry

Do the four achievements below before committing to the pantry. They take only a few minutes, and doing them now avoids an unnecessary replay.

Let the opening conversation and the Fueguino interaction play out before farming Rascal. A soft-lock that required a new game has been reported from bumping objects before talking to Nana and the dog. This order avoids it at no cost.

Beast Tamer

Approach Fueguino and complete the early interaction with him. Petting Fueguino is the trigger, and the achievement unlocks as soon as that interaction completes.

Rascal

After the opening conversation and the Fueguino interaction, run into the shelves, flowerpots, furniture, and other objects around Nana's kitchen until Nana has scolded you 10 times. The achievement unlocks on the tenth scolding.

If progress seems slow, keep bumping objects that visibly trigger one of Nana's reaction messages rather than simply running into walls. If the counter seems to stall, move on to a different object. Repeatedly bumping the same object can stop counting.

Feline reflexes

Open the large yellow refrigerator during the early kitchen sequence. The cactus on top will fall and trigger a quick reaction prompt. Move the left stick to the right in time to catch it.

The achievement unlocks when Miho successfully catches and replaces the cactus. If you fail this early event, restart now rather than carrying the miss into the rest of the game.

Good boy

This is the first major dialogue missable. Finish Nana's initial kitchen conversation, but do not enter the pantry when she asks you to get a potato. Speak to her again about her figurine collection and choose:

  1. No
  2. And then what happened?
  3. And then what happened?
  4. The time he made a joke when you were mad at him

The achievement unlocks at the end of the full story. Only enter the pantry after it pops. Missing it means starting a new game.

If you accidentally answer "Yes" to the first question and Nana will not talk again, try petting Fueguino. This is reported to work for the final story, but it is not confirmed for this one.

The Potato Chase Begins

Continue through the pantry sequence until the Frog Thief escapes with the potatoes. You will need to improvise a boat before the chase continues.

Bon Voyage

Take the washing tub from the garden to use as the boat, then collect the broom inside the house to use as the oar. Bring both to the water and set off.

The achievement unlocks when the journey begins.

The River

Before the Rowing Tutorial

Do not rush to the dolphin and tutorial. Hombre al Agua can only be earned during the short opening boat section. Quitting and continuing during the river returns you to the tutorial, not to this earlier moment.

Hombre al Agua

As soon as you are controlling the boat, deliberately overturn it repeatedly. Holding the movement stick against the current is an easy way to make Miho flip backward. Continue until the achievement unlocks after more than five flips.

If it does not pop, keep flipping before you reach the dolphin. Do not relaunch or reload, because both skip this opening section. If it still will not unlock, start a new game immediately and repeat the opening. Do not continue to the rowing tutorial without it.

Quick Study

Continue to the dolphin and complete the rowing tutorial. This is a story unlock and pops when the tutorial finishes.

Rapids — QTE, Clothes, and the Clean Run

From the rowing tutorial onward, you need four things: the potato-grab QTE (Almost!), all three pieces of clothing (Cazador), and a run with no counted rock hits (Capitán). A zero-hit run also satisfies Navegante.

You do not have to do everything on one attempt. The game does not save during the river. To retry, use the restore-last-checkpoint option in the pause menu, or quit to the main menu and choose Continue. Either one returns you to the dolphin tutorial. An easier approach is:

  1. Do one run for Almost! and Cazador.
  2. Restart.
  3. Do a dedicated clean run for Capitán and Navegante.

If you hit a rock or a riverbank hard enough to stop or rebound backward during a Capitán attempt, restart immediately. Side brushes and glancing spins are reported not to count, but the safest route is to avoid every rock completely.

Restoring the last checkpoint still returns you to the dolphin tutorial after the large waterfall. Even so, check that Almost!, Cazador, Capitán, and Navegante have all popped before entering the whirlpool area, and secure every river achievement before the river ends. There is no way back to the river once it is over.

Almost!

Early in the rapids, the Frog Thief crosses above you and Miho gets a chance to grab the potatoes. Rapidly press A through the entire QTE.

The achievement unlocks when you successfully complete that QTE. If it does not pop, restore the last checkpoint before leaving the river.

Cazador

After the three older women lose their laundry into the river, collect all three garments during the same river run:

  1. The first is on a rock shortly after the small rapid that follows the laundry scene.
  2. The second is on the left immediately after the creepy tree-lined rapid.
  3. The third is on a rock during the rapid leading into the whirlpool.

Aim for the clothing itself rather than colliding with the rock holding it, and press A as you touch each garment. Cazador unlocks immediately after the third garment is collected.

If you miss one, restart before entering the whirlpool area. Do not assume there will be later cleanup. The third garment is close to the whirlpool, so a dedicated Cazador run that you are willing to restart is the safest approach.

Capitán

Complete the rock-dodging portion of the river, from the rowing tutorial to the large waterfall drop, without a counted rock collision.

A meaningful collision is the one to fear: if the boat stops or bounces backward, restart immediately. Treat a hard rebound off a riverbank the same way. It is not confirmed whether bank collisions count. Small brushes that only spin the boat have been reported not to count, but there is no reason to test that on a completion run.

Capitán is reported to unlock just after you go over the large waterfall. If it does not pop after a run you believe was clean, restore the last checkpoint and try again before entering the whirlpool area. Keep retrying until it pops; this is much faster than replaying the game later.

Navegante

Navegante requires completing the river with fewer than five rock collisions. A successful zero-hit Capitán run satisfies this automatically, so both achievements should unlock from the clean attempt.

If Capitán unlocks but Navegante somehow does not, restart and repeat a clean run before entering the whirlpool area.

Whirlpool and River Exit

Once Almost!, Cazador, Capitán, and Navegante are secured, the remaining river task is the whirlpool escape. Do this before the story carries you out of the river.

Close call

At the whirlpool, steer to the left side and aim for the gap between the two large rocks. Press A at a steady rhythm to pull Miho forward.

Do not mash A continuously. Miho can tire, stop rowing, and drift backward. The achievement unlocks when you successfully beat the whirlpool.

Marinero

Finish the remaining river sequence. Marinero is story-related and unlocks when the river section is completed.

Before moving on, your river set should now include Hombre al Agua, Quick Study, Almost!, Cazador, Capitán, Navegante, Close call, and Marinero.

The Black Market — First Visit

Initial Market Sweep

The Black Market is your next major hub. Progress the story, but take a few minutes to secure the frog conversation achievement and the rooftop figurine while their route is convenient.

During the early market puzzle, grab the bottle floating in the water by the bridge behind the stall and take the Paper Charm out of it. The same bottle is used to carry the grease, so keep the charm in your inventory. It has an achievement use inside the giant fish later.

Sapo

Talk to frogs throughout the market until you have completed 10 frog conversations. The safest route is to speak to 10 different frogs rather than testing whether repeat conversations count.

The achievement unlocks on the tenth qualifying conversation.

Artesano

During the early market puzzle, use the grease to move the required crate and gain access to the tops of the stalls. Pick up the wooden plank and use it to bridge the first gap.

After crossing, pick the plank back up and place it again to extend the rooftop route farther south. Follow the stalls toward the bottom-left part of the market and collect the figurine there.

Artesano unlocks on picking up the figurine.

Boat Negotiation

Continue the market story until you need transport. There are two competing boat salesmen, and the completion route turns their price war into a free ride.

Before accepting the free ride, confirm that Sapo and Artesano have unlocked and that the Paper Charm is in your inventory. Accepting the free ride pops Negociante and takes you away from the first market.

Negociante

Keep moving between the two salesmen and report the lower offer made by the other one. Continue the negotiation loop until one of them reduces the price to a free ride, then accept it.

The achievement unlocks when you ride the luxury boat for free.

Inside the Giant Fish

Arrival and Fire Extinguisher

Follow the story inside the fish until you obtain the fire extinguisher. There is no need to farm or conserve anything here.

Bombero

Use the fire extinguisher when the story gives it to you. The achievement unlocks on using it.

Carmenza and the Dark Cave

Before finishing the escape sequence, handle Carmenza's achievement interaction and the dark-cave tasks. This is the cleanest point because all three achievements feed directly into the story route.

Historiador

When you meet Carmenza near the fireflies, give her the Paper Charm from the bottle you found in the Black Market.

The achievement unlocks when Carmenza receives the charm. Treat it as potentially missable and give her the charm as soon as the option appears.

Iluminado

Progress Carmenza's related tasks until she gives you an empty bottle. Fill it with Sandra's glowing cow milk, then enter the dark cave near Carmenza and use the glowing milk from your inventory.

The achievement unlocks when the glowing milk is used to illuminate the cave.

Francisco el Hombre

Explore to the end of the dark cave and find the accordion. Return to the man near the cave entrance and tell him you found it. He needs something to wake him up first, so make coffee and bring it to him. If it goes cold on the way, take the shortcut so it is still hot when you arrive. He then teaches Miho how to play.

The achievement unlocks when the accordion lesson is completed.

Escape Preparations

Finish Carmenza's escape plan before worrying about anything outside the fish. The story first has you recover the calendar and the Captain's log, after which Carmenza gives you a five-item collection task.

The Escape

Collect the five requested items:

  1. The black cloth stuck in the fish's teeth near the beginning of the area. Retrieve it with the farmer's perrero, which the farmer hands over once you supply the grown plant. The plant grows in the illuminated part of the cave.
  2. The football. Play the accordion to the Frog Thief to get it. If it is deflated, have the mechanic fix it.
  3. The Captain's hair scrunchy. The Captain hands it over after you fix the radio.
  4. Sandra's wool poncho. The farmer gives it in exchange for a replacement perrero, which the Frog Thief makes from the broom.
  5. The sunglasses from the accordion man.

Return the set to Carmenza and continue her plan. When the Captain keeps extinguishing the fire, go back to the cave, take the flammable bottle near the chair, and add it to the Captain's water bucket while the Captain is turned away.

Complete the resulting escape sequence. The Escape unlocks when Miho gets out of the giant fish.

Nana's House — Second Visit

Plant the Potato Before Returning to the Pier

Back home, Nana will direct you toward the garden and the next stage of the potato problem. This creates another short achievement window. Do not leave for the Black Market again until both achievements below are complete.

Green Thumb

Take the sprouting or moldy potato into the garden and plant it at the available spot while speaking with Miguel.

The achievement unlocks when the potato is planted.

Good listener

After planting the potato, return to Nana before heading back toward the pier. Start the optional conversation and choose:

  1. No
  2. And then what happened?
  3. And then what happened?
  4. The time a bird told you your future

The achievement unlocks at the end of Nana's story. Do not leave for the Black Market until it pops. Missing it means starting a new game.

If you accidentally answer "Yes" to the first question and Nana will not talk again, try petting Fueguino. This is reported to work for the final story, but it is not confirmed for this one.

The Black Market — Second Visit

Wake the Shady Frog

The story now requires waking the sleeping Shady Frog with the noisy chicken. Before completing that objective, farm the chicken itself for Chicken Bully.

Chicken Bully

Go to the chicken and press A to push it repeatedly. Do this before waking the Shady Frog, and continue until Chicken Bully unlocks after 25 pushes.

CURRENTLY COMMUNITY-FLAGGED / BUGGY: The counter can stall before completion. If you have clearly pushed the chicken enough and the achievement does not unlock, fully quit and relaunch the game, return to the chicken, and push it again. A single push after relaunching can be enough.

Do not move the chicken into its final wake-up position until the achievement has unlocked.

Five more minutes!

Once Chicken Bully is secure, finish moving the chicken to the sleeping Shady Frog. You can continue pushing it or use the Bug Skewer to lure it into position.

The achievement unlocks when the Shady Frog wakes up.

Enter the Shady Shack

The awakened frog now gives you the route into the hideout where the potato chase continues.

In the Shade

Get the Panda Plushie from the Lost and Found stall and give it to the Shady Frog. He teaches Miho the secret knock.

Return to the shack near the pier where the boat salesmen were earlier and use that knock on the door. The achievement unlocks when you enter the Shady Shack.

The Forgotten Song and Card Game

The Frog Thief beats you at cards the first time, which blocks your progress. Solve the Cranky Frog's forgotten-song problem before returning for the winning hand.

Melómano

After the card loss, the old Cranky Frog's birthday party opens up. Speak with her and ask about the forgotten song. She can remember only part of it, so return to Nana by boat and ask her about the song. Choose:

  1. Nana… you're super old, right
  2. That means you know very old songs, right?
  3. I just heard a tiny bit
  4. Under the stars, lit by the moon

Nana supplies the full song. Melómano unlocks at the end of the conversation with Nana. This is story-required, so it cannot be missed.

Return to the Cranky Frog and sing her the missing words. She rewards you with the birthday candles, which are the item needed for the card game.

El Papas

Take the birthday candles to the Shady Shack and use them during the card-game solution against the Frog Thief.

Win the sequence and recover the sack of potatoes. El Papas unlocks when the potatoes are returned to you.

Final Return to Nana

Prepare the Soup

Bring the potatoes home and follow Nana's kitchen instructions. There is one final dialogue missable immediately after this stage, so do not rush outside when the next ingredient is mentioned.

A Comer!

Help Nana prepare the potatoes by completing the prompted peeling and cutting actions.

The achievement unlocks when you finish helping with this stage of the soup.

Continue the short story task that has you return the remaining sack as instructed, then come back to Nana. She will send you to the garden for cilantro. Stop before going outside.

Before Collecting Cilantro

This is the final Nana-story window. Secure it before following the cilantro objective.

Good grandson

When Nana tells you to get cilantro, stay inside and talk to her again. Choose:

  1. No
  2. And then what happened?
  3. And then what happened?
  4. The time that you travelled a long way to find this place

The achievement unlocks at the end of the conversation.

If you accidentally answer "Yes" to the first question and Nana will not talk again, pet Fueguino. This reportedly lets you speak to her again.

There is no chapter select. If you finish the game without this achievement, you must start a new game to earn it.

Ending

With Good grandson secured, collect the cilantro and continue normally through the ending.

Aventurero

Finish the remaining story. After the final garden cutscenes, interact with the tree and climb it when prompted.

Aventurero unlocks when the game is completed. If every earlier section was followed, this should leave the profile at 31/31 achievements and 1,000G.
