▶Before You Start
TOEM has one shared list of 48 achievements worth 1,000 Gamerscore across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows. The Basto island content was a separate free update on other platforms, but on Xbox it is part of the base list, so all 48 are covered here: 37 for the main journey and 11 for Basto.
- Online: none. Everything is single-player and offline.
- Missables: nothing is permanently missable. After the credits you choose Continue Adventure and can take the bus to every region again, so any quest, creature or photo can be cleaned up later. The one Basto risk to plan around is ice cream (see Route Warnings).
- Playthroughs: one.
- Difficulty: there are no difficulty settings and no failure states that matter.
- Status (October 2026): every achievement is currently obtainable. No current bugs are confirmed on Xbox.
▶How the Game Is Structured
You travel by bus through Homelanda, Oaklaville, Stanhamn, Logcity and Kiiruberg, then up to Mountain Top. Each region has a Community Card page. Every quest you finish earns one stamp, and the bus attendant at each region's stop needs a minimum number of stamps before you can leave: 1 in Homelanda, 7 in Oaklaville, 8 in Stanhamn, 9 in Logcity and 6 in Kiiruberg (for Mountain Top). The base game has 65 quests: 3 in Homelanda, 15 in Oaklaville, 16 in Stanhamn, 18 in Logcity and 13 in Kiiruberg. This guide names every one and clears each region before you board, so you'll always be well past the gate.
A handful of quests in every region need photos or items from later regions. These are flagged as you meet them and finished in one cleanup tour before the ending.
The ending triggers when you photograph the TOEM phenomenon on Mountain Top, not when you arrive there. You can visit Mountain Top, leave, and come back.
Basto opens only after the ending, so it is routed last.
▶Route Warnings
- Take a Photo of Nana!: finish this Homelanda quest before you board the first bus. On older builds it couldn't be turned in after the ending; that was patched before the Xbox release, but doing it now costs nothing. If you somehow miss it, give Nana a photo of herself at her tent on Basto.
- Ice cream on Basto: Fruit Shortage gives exactly four ice creams for the four quests that need one: In Your Face, Broken Dreams, Brain Freeze and Sweet Tooth. Only those four NPCs are known to take ice cream, you can't eat it yourself, and the fruit trees don't regrow. No in-save way to get more is documented, so treat a missing ice cream as unrecoverable without replaying. Give the first one to the prince for In Your Face; a rare unconfirmed bug where he stopped asking for it was avoided by serving him first.
- Muddy camera in Logcity: don't wash the camera at the water pump until the stressed human has cleaned it for you. Details are in the Logcity section.
- Honk Master: an old freeze when talking to the Honk Master right after the last boat was patched long before the Xbox release. Pausing a moment first is still a free habit.
- Hidden quests: each region's Community Card shows how many quests it has, but undiscovered ones appear only as question marks. A few quests have hidden starts, so this guide names them where they appear.
- Compendium photos: a creature only registers when it is big enough in frame and you save the photo. Aiming at a creature you already have shows a checkmark. If a photo doesn't add an entry, zoom in or move closer and shoot again.
▶Homelanda
▶Nana's House
Pick up the backpack, leave your room and talk to Nana to get the camera. Take a photo of anything and show it to her from your album.
▶The beginning
Unlocks in that opening scene, once you've taken a photo and shown it to Nana. You can't miss it.
▶Home sweet home
Step back until the whole of Nana's house fits in frame and take a photo of it.
▶Before Boarding
The kiosk attendant gives you the Community Card. Homelanda has three quests:
- A Hidden Gift: talk to the old man near the kiosk, rotate the camera to spot the gift box behind Nana's house, open it for the Clogs, then return to him. The Clogs are the first item for Cosplayer, so equip them once now.
- Take a Photo of Nana!: talk to Nana again after getting the card, take a photo of Nana herself (not just any photo) and show it to her. Do this now; see Route Warnings.
- Experience TOEM: this one is already on your card but only completes after the ending.
Homelanda's compendium has 4 creatures. Grab them before you leave:
- Cow: in the paddock left of the start area.
- Flies: around the rotten apple on the rock by the clock.
- Home Bird: the small birds between Nana's house and the apple tree. If they've flown off, wait for them to land again.
- Tato: on top of the "i" sign above the information kiosk.
Leave with two of three stamps.
▶Oaklaville
▶Arrival
▶The calm forest
Unlocks when you first arrive in Oaklaville.
▶Going long!
Going long!50G
This tracks the distance you walk across the whole game. There is no counter. You don't need to wear the Clogs; that requirement was patched out long before the Xbox release. Most players get it passively somewhere around Logcity or Kiiruberg. If it still hasn't unlocked by the end of the guide, there's a final step for it in the last section.
▶Photo Challenges and the Tripod
Oaklaville has two photo challenges:
- Photo Challenge #1: the photographer in the area just past the Scout Lodge wants a Mossy Rock, a Pine Tree and the Axe stuck in a stump near the lodge.
- Photo Challenge #2 (A Tiny Army of Soldiers): the scout with a standee to the left of the Oak Hotel plaza wants a photo of the ants. They're on the ground near the Photo Challenge #1 photographer.
You can take challenge photos before you accept a challenge. One of these two gives you the Tripod, which you need for monster photos later. It isn't confirmed which one, so clear both here.
With the Tripod in hand, photograph Bushy, Oaklaville's monster, at the playground. Monsters won't appear while you're watching. Set the Tripod facing the spot, hide behind the flower cutout, and let the timer take the shot when the monster shows up. You'll use this trick again for Lochy, Sewy and Tally.
▶Nature's show-stopper
Unlocks when you finish both Oaklaville photo challenges.
▶Oak Hotel
The boy with spiky hair in the Oak Hotel lobby, by the horse painting, starts Monster Spotting. Bushy is your first monster; the other three come from later regions.
Do Log Blocking a Path early. The porcupine brother beside the log wants you to focus the camera on his three Pinecone Brothers: on the Scout Lodge roof (stand at the top of the steps), on a stool in the Oak Hotel lobby, and on the bus stop kiosk roof. Clearing the log opens the stairs to the hotel vantage point. Then do these:
- Capture the Hotel's Beauty: ring the reception bell, talk to the receptionist, and give them the vantage-point photo of the hotel (see A majestic hotel below). A close shot from right outside the hotel is rejected.
- Hotel Chef: comfort the sad bird on a stump at the vantage point, then talk to him again in the hotel.
- Become a Scout: the scout leader by the lodge wants photos of a Cotton Puff (beside the bus stop kiosk), a Striped Shroom (around the playground) and a Block Thistle (the cube-shaped plants at the vantage point). The reward is the Fjällbjörn Cap.
- Hide-and-Seek: the boy at the base of the ladder left of the plaza. Climb the ladder and aim the camera at the four hidden kids until each is caught. No photo needed.
▶You found us!
In the Oak Hotel lobby, raise the camera toward the dark ceiling and sweep slowly until a focus gauge appears over a pair of eyes. Hold steady until it fills. It's a nod to the developers.
▶A majestic hotel
Once the log is cleared, follow the path to the area with the bird chef and climb the stairs to the highest landing. Stand at the camera sign, turn back toward the Oak Hotel and photograph it. The achievement unlocks on the photo. Show the same photo to the receptionist for Capture the Hotel's Beauty.
▶Look at those cuties
You need compendium photos of all 10 of the development team's pets. They're ordinary compendium entries, so each one also appears in its region's compendium list in this guide. The achievement unlocks the moment the tenth is saved, usually Teddy in Kiiruberg.
- Oaklaville: Oskar (cat on the Oak Hotel reception counter), Tom (monkey on the railing outside the hotel, near the drying socks) and Sero (dog running around the graveyard by the skeleton's house).
- Stanhamn: Fia (fluffy-tailed cat walking around the pier to the right of the fountain), Fräs (asleep on crates at the pier near the start) and Willemijn (on a crate stack beside the Guitar Wizard on the Quiet Shore).
- Logcity: Portillo (dog outside the café near the taxi).
- Kiiruberg: Mikée (on the table upstairs in the Balloon Family's house behind the birthday party), Nariko (on the bed in the same house) and Teddy (asleep on the sofa in the lodge next to the crashed asteroid).
▶Who's a good boy?!
Walk up to Sero and press the interact prompt to pet him. Any pettable pet works, so if you skip it here you can pet another one later.
▶Ghosts, the Skeleton and the Sockman
The skeleton in the graveyard gives you the Ghost Glasses when you first approach. Wear them to see ghosts. Talk to the ghost on the sofa in the tall ghost house to start Ghost Helper!, which needs all six ghost quests in the game: two here, two in Stanhamn and two in Logcity. Do both Oaklaville ghost quests now:
- A Courageous Stallion: the ghost by the graves wants a photo of the framed horse picture in the Oak Hotel lobby.
- Cup Champion: the ghost at the table with the upturned flowerpots plays a follow-the-cup game. Your first win gives the Wet Socks for Missing Socks and starts the quest. Talk to the ghost again and win three more rounds as the cups speed up. The stamp lands after the third of those; if it doesn't, keep playing until it does.
▶Calmed down
Calmed down15G
After the skeleton gives you the Ghost Glasses, talk to the ghost on the sofa, go upstairs and photograph the Tato Fly on the balcony, then leave the house. When the skeleton is calm and sparkling, take a close-up photo of him. If he isn't sparkling yet, leave the area and come back.
▶Just a sock
Just a sock15G
The sockman sits on the bench beside the Oak Hotel. Give him the Wet Socks from Cup Champion to finish Missing Socks (the reward is the Soaked Sock). Then find him sparkling and take a close-up photo. If he isn't sparkling yet, leave the screen and come back.
▶Remaining Oaklaville Work
Finish the last local quests:
- Suspicious Activity – Forest: a Periscope pops out of the trash can near the Photo Challenge #1 photographer. Climb the Hide-and-Seek ladder, photograph the coated figure in the upper-right of the forest, and show the photo to the Periscope. This doesn't need the log cleared. It's one of three Suspicious Activity quests that feed Military Suspicions in Kiiruberg, and the photo only counts once you've handed it in.
- Become a Flower: at the flower cutout in the playground, go behind it, flip the camera and take a selfie with your face in the hole. The Tripod is optional.
- Become a Paparazzi: wear the Ghost Glasses plus one other clothing item to get past the bear bouncer at the party past the playground, then photograph DJ Moose inside.
Pick up the gift boxes behind the Oak Hotel (Foam Finger) and in the Mushroom House (Cowboy Hat).
Oaklaville also has two of the six Cosmic Cubes you'll photograph for Ice Wizard's Research in Kiiruberg:
- Through the trees near the Scout Lodge. Photographing it spawns the Pet Rock.
- Under the stairs by the flowerpot ghost. Photographing it opens the Mushroom House, with the Tato Bug and the Cowboy Hat box.
Keep at least one photo from Oaklaville in your album; a Logcity ghost asks for one.
▶Slow and steady
The snail is just to the right as you enter the Oak Hotel plaza. You don't start anything. Stay in that area for about four to five minutes while it finishes its race; photographing it first is fine. Leaving the area may reset the wait, so do nearby photos while it crawls. If you'd rather skip the wait, honking at it repeatedly once you have the Honk from Stanhamn speeds it up.
▶Oaklaville Compendium
Oaklaville has 15 creatures:
- Butterfly: near the bus stop, on the right side.
- Snail: the racing snail just right of the Oak Hotel plaza entrance.
- Stag Beetle: crawling on the front wall of the hotel.
- Forest Bird: on the ground right outside the hotel.
- Tom: dev pet, on the railing outside the hotel.
- Nestworm: in the birdhouse on the side of the hotel, just above the sockman's bench.
- Oskar: dev pet, on the hotel reception desk.
- Ant: on the ground near the Photo Challenge #1 photographer past the Scout Lodge.
- Ladybug: on the Scout Lodge wall.
- Pet Rock: behind the rocks near the axe stump, after you photograph the first Cosmic Cube.
- Beehive: on the tree near the playground.
- Squirrel: in the clearing with the flowerpot table.
- Sero: dev pet, running around the graveyard.
- Tato Fly: on the balcony of the ghost house, upstairs to the right.
- Tato Bug: on a rock inside the Mushroom House, after you photograph the second Cosmic Cube.
The porcupine Pinecone Brothers from Log Blocking a Path aren't compendium entries.
▶What to Leave for Later
Two Oaklaville quests can't be finished yet:
- Monster Spotting: you already have Bushy. It also needs photos of Lochy (Stanhamn), Sewy (Logcity) and Tally (Kiiruberg). Hand all four to the boy in the Oak Hotel lobby for the Monster Mask.
- Ghost Helper!: needs the four ghost quests in Stanhamn and Logcity.
That leaves Oaklaville at 13 of 15 stamps, comfortably past the bus gate. Ride on to Stanhamn.
▶Stanhamn
▶Arrival and Solve the Chaos
▶Set sail for good weather
Unlocks when you arrive in Stanhamn.
Before you go anywhere, photograph two things you'll need later: the coated figure behind the crates at the arrival dock (for Suspicious Activity – Harbour) and the sun (for a ghost quest).
Do Solve the Chaos next. In the stormy area left of the large beach, the Honkhouse attendant wants a photo of the storm, then you focus the camera on the four stranded boats among the rocks (wait for lightning). The reward is the Honk.
Then head to the Photo Guild hut, the building with a rotating camera on its roof. Talk to the new member and take any photo with a frame or filter to finish Frames & Filters!. That unlocks frames, filters and lenses, including the Sunglasses frame you'll need on Basto for Wazzuuppp and the Fisheye lens that helps with a Logcity quest.
▶Around the Square and the Docks
▶A sparkling jump
In Stanhamn Square, honk at the dancer and immediately take a close-up photo while they're mid-jump and sparkling.
▶Flight ready
Flight ready15G
Near the fishing tower is a seagull wearing a scarf. Take a close-up photo of it.
While you're here, pick up the gift boxes in the Honkhouse (Fishing Hat), at the Hydro plant (Hard Hat), near the Guitar Wizard (Umbrella, which needs the Honk), and at the docks right of the fountain (Rubber Boots, available after Power Shortage?!).
▶Hydro Plant
Honk the seagulls off the raft attendant and ride the raft to the hydro-electric plant. Two quests start here:
- Power Shortage?!: the engineer by the big machine wants you to aim at the lightbulb-eyes marker, then at the five stuck parts. This restores the bridges, and several quests are behind them: Photo Challenge #4's photographer, the Suspicious Activity – Harbour Periscope, the Scorching Flame? ghost, A Lost Dog and Ocean Garbage.
- Make Someone Take a Bath: this quest appears on your card when you enter Stanhamn but has no giver. Inside the plant, honk behind the engineer teetering on the bridge so he falls into the water. Then go down to the lowest floor near the raft, cross the bridge past the waterfall and talk to him in the river. Don't skip it. Basto's Splish-splash depends on it.
▶Employee of the month
Climb to the top of the plant's stairs, where the Employee of the Month wall has one empty frame. Take a selfie and place it in that frame. If it doesn't unlock straight away, talk to the engineer nearby.
▶Ocean Garbage and the Queen
- Ocean Garbage: the crate creature on the fishing tower ledge wants you to aim at five garbage piles in the water. The last one turns into a chest with the Diving Helmet.
- Queen of Paper Hats: honk the sleeping Pirate Queen at the bridge dock to get a key. Honk the gulls off the pier, dive through the manhole at the end with the Diving Helmet on, and open the underwater chest for the Pirate Hat.
▶A voyage underwater
With the Diving Helmet on, use the underwater vantage point and photograph the Smiling Huntsman.
▶Music Quests, Ghosts and the Beach
Do the three music quests in order:
- A Whistling Dilemma: the snowman on the lower boardwalk wants a photo of the humming sailor at the fountain while music notes float up. The reward is a tape.
- A Layered Melody: play the tape for the Guitar Wizard on the Quiet Shore. You need the Honk to clear the gulls on the way.
- The King of Fishes: after the concert, aim at the bubbling sea and photograph the King Fish mid-leap, then show the sailor at the fountain. The King Fish is also a compendium entry. If you miss the leap, replay the tape.
With the Ghost Glasses on, do both Stanhamn ghost quests:
- Scorching Flame?: the ghost on the beach by the flowerbeds past the hydro plant wants your photo of the sun.
- Supreme Deluxe Sandwich?!: the elderly ghost outside the hydro plant. The sandwich appears near the Pirate Queen, surrounded by gulls. Honk them off and take it back by raft.
The rest of Stanhamn:
- Suspicious Activity – Harbour: show your arrival-dock figure photo to the Periscope in the empty flowerbed beyond the hydro bridge.
- A Lost Dog: the hiker on the pier is whistling for Meck. Pet Meck on the large-beach promenade, then lead him back.
- Photo Challenge #3: the photographer at the steel-grate bridge near the Pirate Queen wants a sandcastle, the giant ice cream in the boat and the Shy Hippo. All three are on the large beach. If the hippo shot is rejected, try one with her face covered. Honk the gulls only if the ice cream shot is refused.
- Photo Challenge #4 (Become a Farmer): the photographer is past the hydro plant exterior. Take a selfie behind the farmer cutout on the upper platform of the large beach.
- A Good Spot with No Sun: the sunbather in the shade on the large beach wants a photo of the Cosmic Cube floating in the sea, seen from the farmer cutout platform. This is cube 3 of 6.
Photograph Lochy, Stanhamn's monster, on the large beach. Set the Tripod near the farmer cutout, hide below the platform and wait for the rumble.
▶Stanhamn Compendium
Stanhamn has 15 creatures. The last four are underwater, so wear the Diving Helmet and dive through the manhole at the end of the pier. Keep other creatures out of the frame if an underwater shot won't register.
- Tato Swim: in the sea by the arrival pier. Walk down to the lower level and aim down.
- Seagull: perched on posts all over town.
- Bubble Fly: right by the dozing Pirate Queen near the bridge.
- Toad: on the pier with the umbrella and chair by the bridge.
- Crab: on a rock on the beach.
- Willemijn: dev pet, on the crates at the Quiet Shore.
- Fräs: dev pet, asleep on crates at the pier near the start.
- Fia: dev pet, walking around the pier near the hiker looking for Meck.
- Sunday Swan: in the water between the piers.
- Dragonfly: around the pier outside the hydro plant.
- King Fish: leaps from the bubbling sea at the Quiet Shore after A Layered Melody. Replay the tape if you miss it.
- Happy Carp: underwater.
- Jellyfish: underwater, near the chest.
- Seahorse: underwater, near the sunken boat.
- Tato Scuba: underwater, tiny, between the sunken boat and the rock.
▶Stanhamn Wrap-Up
▶Calm as the sea
Unlocks when you finish Photo Challenges #3 and #4.
▶Seaworthy
Seaworthy25G
Unlocks when all 16 Stanhamn quests are stamped. None of them depends on a later region, so you can finish Stanhamn now.
The Photo Guild girl also hands out the Photo Challenger Flag, but only after all eight photo challenges in the game. You'll come back for it at the end.
▶Logcity
▶Arrival and the Clock Tower
▶The big city
The big city15G
Unlocks when you arrive in Logcity.
▶The grand clock tower
The grand clock tower is just up the escalator from the bus station, near the Hotbean stand. A fenced platform there is marked with a camera sign.
Photograph the tower from that platform. It should unlock instantly, at any time of day.
If it doesn't unlock, reframe so the clock face fills more of the shot and take it again from the platform. As a last resort, the clock follows your console's system clock and a bird pops out under the clock face on the hour; photograph the tower as it appears.
▶Around the City
Logcity has 18 quests. On the first screen:
- Hang in There, Buddy: this one has no giver. Photograph the cat hanging from the wire above the clock-tower area and the stamp lands on its own.
- Young and Inspiring: the influencer by the Hotbean stall wants a photo of her with the hot dog stall, then one outside the café with the burger and fries.
- Super Hotbean Bros.: the Hotbean cart owner gives you the Hotbean Hat. Wear it, talk to three hungry people around the city and mention Hotbean, then return to the cart.
Honk-based quests:
- A Mouse Bakery: honk the five mice out of the café for the manager. The reward is a Cinnamon Bun.
- Punk Rocker Bread Crumbs: give the bun to the punk rocker on the bench near the subway. The Punky Parrot then appears for your compendium.
- A Thieving Crow: the frisbee players beside the café. Honk the crow out of the tree above the crossable street, then pick up the frisbee in the car park and return it.
The News Agency and the fashion show:
- Press-ing News: talk to the mustached boss in the News Agency, then try to leave and the quest starts. He gives you the Reporter Hat. Photograph his mustache (zoom in so it's detected on its own) and the fashion-show model, then hand both photos to him while wearing the Reporter Hat.
- A Design Problem: wear the Reporter Hat to get backstage, then switch to any other hat (not the Diving Helmet) and talk to the designer. Let the show run, take your model photo for Press-ing News, and talk to her again.
Ghosts (Ghost Glasses on):
- A Ghostly Date: the ghost in a beret next to the art gallery. Answer yes to both questions, then lead her to the candle table in the small park outside the fashion show.
- Spooky Scary City: the tall ghost by the road wants any photo you took in Oaklaville. Pick one from your album.
Cubes and the Periscope:
- Always Tumbled Granny: the granny by her upturned car. From the top of the far stairs, photograph the Cosmic Cube in the trash across the gap (cube 5). Her car gets fixed and she starts driving.
- Sewer Stumble!: examine the manhole in the police parking lot, then photograph the Cosmic Cube in the topmost left window of the building behind the photographer (cube 4).
- Suspicious Activity – City: photograph the coated figure behind the stairs under the crow's tree, then show it to the Periscope in the junk pile below the soda-can billboard.
Photo challenges:
- Photo Challenge #5: the photographer on the bridge near the News Agency wants three shots. The first is five living things in one photo (the fashion-show crowd works). The second is the granny's car driving; finish Always Tumbled Granny first, and stand mid-crossing to stop traffic. The third is the skater girl grinding the rail.
- Photo Challenge #6 (Critical Confusion!): the photographer in the police parking lot wants a photo of the confused man by his ticketed car.
Photograph Sewy, the city's monster, in the skater area by the manhole. Set the Tripod between the manhole and the tree, then hide behind the platform. Up the right-hand stairs in the Always Tumbled Granny area is a gift box holding the Sneakers.
▶Mud, Art and the Stressed Human
These three quests share one muddy camera, so do them in this order:
- Ratskullz Crew: take the taxi near the café to the far end of the city and find the gang in the back alley. Accepting the quest splashes mud on your camera. Photograph five different graffiti pieces around the city and show them. Seven exist; spots include the escalator, by the café, the busy street, under the News Department bridge and the parking-lot ground.
- Art Exhibition: in the art gallery (the only door that opens in the police parking-lot area), talk to the manager, then examine the speaker by the middle pillar to start the quest. He wants a "distorted" photo you've named in the album. Either take any photo while your camera is still muddy, or take a Fisheye-lens photo. Rename it with the album's rename button, then hand it over.
- Cleaning Away the Stress: the stressed human sits on the bench below the Logcity sign by the bus-station escalator. Talk to him with the muddy camera and he cleans it for you.
▶Logcity Compendium
Logcity has 8 creatures:
- Pigeon: all over the main square.
- Mouse: inside the café before you honk the mice out for A Mouse Bakery, or near the flyover.
- Business Pigeon: on top of the police car in the parking lot.
- Portillo: dev pet, outside the café near the taxi.
- Punky Parrot: flies down by the punk rocker's bench after Punk Rocker Bread Crumbs.
- Tato Skateboard: behind the stairs and rail where the girls skateboard. Look with the camera.
- Tato Tourist: beside the leftmost parked car outside the fashion show.
- Turtle: on the main road next to a drain cover and a slice of pizza.
▶Logcity Achievements
▶100 followers!
Finish Young and Inspiring, then take a close-up photo of the influencer while she's sparkling.
▶A new job
A new job15G
Finish Cleaning Away the Stress, then take a close-up photo of the cleaner.
▶City professional
Unlocks when you finish Photo Challenges #5 and #6.
▶Buisness executed
Unlocks when all 18 Logcity quests are stamped.
▶Quick Oaklaville Stop
All six ghost quests are done now, so you can hand Ghost Helper! in to the sofa ghost in Oaklaville. Stop off now or leave it for the cleanup tour before the ending. Either works. Strong as an oak still needs Monster Spotting.
▶Kiiruberg
▶Arrival and Gear
▶Snowy peaks
Snowy peaks15G
Unlocks when you arrive in Kiiruberg.
Do Snowball Memories first. The old rock climber outside his hut across the frozen lake gives you the Climbing Boots. Climb to the summit, photograph the giant snowball and return to him for the Puffer Hat. Most of Kiiruberg's cliffs and ropes need the boots.
The Scarf comes from the lady in the house at the bottom of the ski lift, and the Ski Goggles from the man at the top.
▶All geared up
Unlocks when you wear the Puffer Hat, Ski Goggles, Scarf and Climbing Boots together. The game puts them on for you in the snowy mountain areas once you own all four.
▶Happy youth
Happy youth15G
After Snowball Memories, take a close-up photo of the old man while he's sparkling.
▶Around Kiiruberg
Kiiruberg has 13 quests. Two appear on your card as soon as you arrive:
- Become a Yeti: take a selfie behind the yeti cutout on the way to the ski lodge.
- Play Astronaut: open the gift box at the foot of the observatory hill for the Space Helmet (rotate the camera left). Wear it and take a selfie with the Tato Alien and one of the hanging planets.
The others:
- Photo Challenge #7: the photographer on the ledge above the Giggling Snowman (climb the rope) wants the moon, the balloon dog by the balloon family, and any snowman.
- Photo Challenge #8 (A Wall of Lights): the photographer by the fire after the long rope wants a photo of a wall of blinking computers. The observatory servers work.
- Yeti Cuteness: the yeti on the ledge in the cave area wants a Fluff Ball photo. Fluff Balls are around the observatory.
- Locating an Asteroid: this one is hidden. Talk to the astronomer in the observatory, then use the telescope upstairs and hold focus on the asteroid until the bar fills. Photograph the crashed asteroid in the town area from a distance and show the astronomer.
- Listen to the Goat Choir: also hidden. Aim the camera at any mountain goat until the bar fills to start it. Spook three goats (on the frozen-pond peak, the cave-area peak and the ski-slope peak), and they gather on the frozen-pond hills. Then sit on the bench near the climber's hut.
- Assemble a Snowman: hidden too, and the most commonly missed stamp in the game. Honk at the long-limbed Giggling Snowman near the elevator. A man appears and the snowman's head and torso go missing. Photograph the head (on top of a tree near the top of the ski lift) and the torso (by the picnic table at the bottom of the lift), then show him.
- Birthday in Distress: the balloons around the cake at arrival. With the full gear on, honk the ice block in the cave area to open the blizzard zone, tie the balloon boy to your waist at the rails and walk him back.
In the blizzard zone, also:
- Past the second ice block, honk the ice four times, then set the Tripod, hide behind the ledge and photograph Tally, Kiiruberg's monster.
- Honk the Ice Wizard free from his ice block. This starts the hidden quest Ice Wizard's Research.
Three quests here pull together work from the whole trip:
- Military Suspicions: completes once all three Suspicious Activity quests (Forest, Harbour, City) are handed in. Talk to the commander in the secret base. Its entrance is a Periscope in a snow mound to the left, past the Giggling Snowman and the elevator.
- Ice Wizard's Research: once cubes 1 to 5 are photographed, photograph cube 6 in the corner of the Ice Wizard's tower and talk to him. A computer in the tower shows your cube progress. He opens a portal to the Cosmo Deer for your compendium.
- Ancient Paintings: the mountain explorer behind the Yeti in the cave area wants photos of five wall paintings. The one next to her is already crossed off her list, though photographing it too is harmless. The fifth is on Mountain Top.
The four Kiiruberg paintings for Ancient Paintings are:
- On the cliff with the long rope, across from the explorer.
- Under the bridge on the right-hand cliff in the Fluff Ball area.
- On the cliff behind the snowman in the rock climber's area.
- Below the photo challenger, opposite the Giggling Snowman.
▶Kiiruberg Compendium
Kiiruberg has 12 creatures. Teddy is usually your tenth dev pet, which unlocks Look at those cuties.
- Mikée: dev pet, on the table upstairs in the Balloon Family's house behind the birthday party.
- Nariko: dev pet, on the bed in the same house.
- Teddy: dev pet, asleep on the sofa in the lodge next to the crashed asteroid in town.
- Hedgehog: on a raised platform near the balloon birthday party at the entrance.
- Mountain Goat: on the hilltops. Any of the Goat Choir goats works.
- Owl: on a signpost at the crossroads in the mid-levels.
- Fluff Ball: the herd around the observatory.
- Tato Alien: floating by the scientist at the observatory.
- Snow Bird: at the bottom of the ski hill. It zooms off if you get close, so shoot from a distance or leave and re-enter.
- Tato Ski: shoots out of the tiny door at the top of the ski hill and keeps coming back. Be ready to snap it.
- Meteopal: the little virus-like things floating around the asteroid at the crash site, after Locating an Asteroid brings it down.
- Cosmo Deer: through the portal in the Ice Wizard's tower, after Ice Wizard's Research.
▶Kiiruberg Photo Challenges
▶The biggest hurdle
Unlocks when you finish Photo Challenges #7 and #8. With all eight done, you can claim the Photo Challenger Flag in Stanhamn.
▶Mountain Top
▶First Visit
With at least six Kiiruberg stamps, take the bus up.
▶So close now!
Unlocks when you arrive on Mountain Top.
▶A great story
The last painting is under the first wooden bridge. Don't cross it; climb down the rope on the side facing the bus. Photograph the painting, ride back to Kiiruberg and show the explorer your photos. When she sparkles, take a close-up photo of her.
▶Cleanup Before the Ending
▶Kiiruberg
Finish Military Suspicions, Ice Wizard's Research and Ancient Paintings, plus any other quest still open. If the card is one short, check the hidden ones first: Assemble a Snowman, Listen to the Goat Choir and Locating an Asteroid.
▶Ice fighter
Ice fighter25G
Unlocks when all 13 Kiiruberg quests are stamped.
▶Oaklaville
Give all four monster photos to the boy in the Oak Hotel lobby for Monster Spotting (Monster Mask), and hand Ghost Helper! in to the sofa ghost if you haven't already.
▶Strong as an oak
Unlocks when all 15 Oaklaville quests are stamped.
▶Stanhamn
Talk to the girl in the Photo Guild hut for the Photo Challenger Flag.
▶Cosplayer
Cosplayer25G
Unlocks once you've equipped every base-game wardrobe item at least once. There are 23 of them: Clogs, Cowboy Hat, Fjällbjörn Cap, Ghost Glasses, Soaked Sock, Foam Finger, Monster Mask, Diving Helmet, Fishing Hat, Hard Hat, Pirate Hat, Paper Hat, Rubber Boots, Umbrella, Photo Challenger Flag, Hotbean Hat, Reporter Hat, Sneakers, Climbing Boots, Puffer Hat, Scarf, Ski Goggles and Space Helmet. Basto outfits and the Award Mask don't count.
If it doesn't unlock, the missing piece is usually the Photo Challenger Flag, the Foam Finger, or the Pirate Hat you traded away. Swap the Paper Hat back to the Queen for the Pirate Hat, put it on, then go through the wardrobe and equip each item one by one until it unlocks.
▶Collect them all
Unlocks when all 54 base-game compendium creatures are photographed: 4 in Homelanda, 15 in Oaklaville, 15 in Stanhamn, 8 in Logcity and 12 in Kiiruberg. If you followed the route it's usually already done, often on the Cosmo Deer. Otherwise, check each region's compendium page against the region lists in this guide and ride back for the gaps.
The usual strays are the Nestworm, Beehive, Pet Rock and Tato Bug in Oaklaville; the Tato Swim, Happy Carp and other underwater creatures in Stanhamn; the Tato Skateboard and Punky Parrot in Logcity; and the Snow Bird, Tato Ski, Meteopal and Cosmo Deer in Kiiruberg.
▶The Ending
▶The TOEM Phenomenon
Check each region's card before you go up: Oaklaville 15, Stanhamn 16, Logcity 18 and Kiiruberg 13, with only Experience TOEM left in Homelanda. Then return to Mountain Top and photograph the phenomenon at the summit. Hold the camera still and make sure the shot is sharp, because you'll need to show this photo to Nana.
▶Experience TOEM
Unlocks when you photograph the TOEM phenomenon. The bus takes you home and the credits roll. Pick Continue Adventure on the title screen to keep playing.
▶A true completionist
Back in Homelanda, talk to Nana and show her your TOEM photo to earn the Experience TOEM stamp. A true completionist unlocks on whichever of the 65 base-game stamps is your last, which on this route is this one. Basto quests don't count toward it.
If it doesn't unlock, a quest in some region is still open. The bus attendants show each region's stamp count, so use them to find where.
▶Basto
▶Getting There
Once Nana has accepted your TOEM photo, a note and a ticket from her appear in the living room. Take the bus to Stanhamn, follow the Viking signs one screen right of the central area past the talking snowman, and board the Viking's boat.
▶Tropical paradise
Unlocks when you arrive on Basto.
At the information desk, talk to the greeter for the Water Popper. It throws water balloons, and you switch between it and the Honk in camera view. Shoot the bullseye by the gate to open it. That also starts Basto's Hidden Balloons.
Basto has 20 quests and 20 compendium creatures. Its time of day matters. You arrive in daytime. After Nana's Take a Nap! quest in her tent, sleeping in any bed or hammock switches between day and night. At night the water drops, revealing extra ladders, a mermaid and an island you can't reach by day. By day the carnival bridge, the ice-cream vendor and the palace are open. This route uses a day, a night and a second day.
The Sun Hat is in a gift box in Nana's tent. Check the tent before and after your first nap. If Take a Photo of Nana! was somehow left undone, try giving Nana a photo of herself here; it isn't a confirmed fix on Xbox.
▶Daytime Work
Work through these on your first day:
- Arrival area: water the pot beside the info kiosk (see Dry Season below). If the Bitling Tato isn't on the "i" sign above the kiosk, splash the coconut tree above it and it drops onto the sign. Photograph it there.
- Jet-Ski Tricks: the square NPC by the parked jet-skis wants a photo of the pyramid NPC mid-air just after the ramp.
- Broken Dreams: talk to the monkey with a broken leg on the deckchair by the pool. He wants an ice cream later.
- Dry Season: the gardener by the garden. Hit the dried flower in her garden twice in a row with the Water Popper to start the quest, then water the other ten pots.
- Take a Nap!: talk to Nana in her tent in the camp area, but don't nap yet. Your first sleep in the hammock at the back of her tent completes the quest and awards its stamp. You'll take that nap at the end of the day.
- Painterly Portrait: the painter outside the palace takes any sparkle portrait. Your Self portrait selfie (below) is the fastest.
- Fruit Shortage: the ice-cream vendor left of the palace. Shoot the four non-coconut fruit trees with balloons and hand him the fruit. He gives one ice cream per fruit, so you can start spending them before the quest is done. Each tree gives fruit once. The trees are listed below.
- In Your Face: the prince inside the palace blocks your camera. Give him your first ice cream.
- Sand Castle Competition: after In Your Face, photograph three of the sand castles displayed around the sides of the palace. The big central castle doesn't count. Put the photos in the three frames under the trophies and talk to the queen. If she won't accept them, retake the photos.
- Arthur Hunter: the paleontologist by the dinosaur skeleton at the top of the movie-area ramps gives you the Pickaxe. The skull fossil is at a dig spot up the ladder in the arrival area. The other two fossils come at night.
- Play a Carnival Game: the top-hat owner in the circus tent. Beat all three games (below), then talk to him again.
- Night Lights: the big-eyed boy up the first ramp in the movie area wants a photo of a glowing bug. That's the Firefly, which only appears at night, so you'll turn this in on day two.
The four Fruit Shortage trees:
- Banakin: on the island you reach by shooting the small target right of the palace and jumping into the pipe hatch.
- Orangana: behind the movie screen.
- Beanut: the tree to the left outside Nana's tent in the camp area.
- Melonpear: on the far island by the hammock and parrot in the jet-ski area. Go down the ladder on the right, cross, and climb the next ladder; the tree is on the right. If you can't get across by day, pick it up in the night phase.
Give your second ice cream to the monkey for Broken Dreams. Keep any others for Brain Freeze and Sweet Tooth.
▶Pro gamer
Pro gamer15G
The circus tent is only reachable by day. Beat the target score in all three games:
- Matching Game (500 points): honk at the portrait that matches the face on the small left screen.
- Target Game (500 points): hit the flying targets with water balloons. Misses cost points, so aim above the blades, and well above for the back targets.
- Honk Hero (3,000 points): honk as each bar reaches the white line. Turning off camera shake, motion controls and controller rumble helps. Keep your album closed when a game ends.
Each win gives a Minigame Ticket, and you can replay games for more. The Vacation Shirt costs 2 tickets.
▶Maximum vacation
Wear only the Sun Hat (from Nana's tent), the Vacation Shirt (2 carnival tickets) and the Flip-Flops, with nothing else equipped. The Sun Cap is a different item and doesn't work. Then sit in a beach chair by day. There's one under an umbrella between the jet-ski ramp and the garden.
If it doesn't unlock with exactly those three, stand up, add the Ghost Glasses as a fourth item and sit again. It isn't confirmed as needed, but it's a harmless retry.
To get the Flip-Flops, use the Pickaxe on the X beside the Dry Season pot in front of the tree on the ghost screen (the cave-entrance area), then open the chest.
▶Splish-splash
The Stanhamn engineer from Make Someone Take a Bath floats in an inner tube on Basto. Find him on the ghost screen, in the water just off the coast near the circle of ghosts, and hit him with a water balloon. He's confirmed there at night. Try whenever you pass, and if he's missing by day, do it in the night phase.
▶King's new shirt
After Sand Castle Competition, the queen gives you the Royal Cape and the king sparkles in his new shirt. Take a close-up photo of him inside the palace.
▶Self portrait
Sit on the stool in front of the painter's easel outside the castle. You sparkle automatically. Flip the camera and take a selfie. Show it to the painter for Painterly Portrait. If it doesn't unlock, stand up, sit again and retake it.
▶The Royal Castle
Photograph the castle building itself, outside, from the painter's screen. The sand castles inside the palace don't count. Any time of day works.
▶Nighttime Work
Sleep in the hammock in Nana's tent to switch to night. This first nap also stamps Take a Nap!; check the Basto card if you want to confirm. Then:
- Melonpear tree: if you didn't get it by day, reach the jet-ski area's far island now (down the ladder on the right, up the next one) and shoot the tree. Hidden Balloon #2 is on the tower here too.
- Dehydrated Muscles: the man at the end of the pier in the ghost area, reachable only at night. Fill his bottle at a water pump and bring it to him three times. He moves on each time and ends up at his house beside the palace. Talk to him there.
- Night-Time Cinema: splash all four torches around the movie screen.
- Bad Hair Day: the mermaid in the lowered water below the movie-area ladder near the hammock. Talk to her and splash the seaweed off her face.
- Arthur Hunter fossils: the leg is at the X under the bridge, down the long ladder by the movie-area hammock. The foot is at the X down the ladder between the painter and the bridge to the muscleman's house.
- Brain Freeze: arms wave above the X on the platform just below the dinosaur skeleton. Dig it, talk to the zombie Viking and give him an ice cream.
- Spooky Stories: the camper by the bonfire. Go down the long ladder by the dinosaur platform, cross the bridge and turn left toward the bamboo. Splash the bullseye hidden behind the bamboo, enter the pipe hatch and photograph the spooky tree on the island. Hidden Balloon #9 is there too. Show the camper.
- Book of Bats: read the book on the table in the cave, then wake three sleeping bats with the Water Popper. One is on the cave ceiling near a torch. One is on the string of lanterns in the movie area, around the middle. One hangs on the tower on the island left of the ice-cream vendor. Return to the book and a vampire appears.
- Firefly: photograph it in front of the cave entrance on the ghost screen. It's both a compendium entry and the Night Lights photo.
▶Moonlit beauty
After Bad Hair Day, the mermaid sings and sparkles. Take a close-up photo of her.
▶Wazzuuppp
Wazzuuppp15G
At night, aim at the moon, pick the Sunglasses frame from Stanhamn's Frames & Filters! and line it up so the frame covers the moon. Take the photo. The camp area near Nana's tent has a clear view.
▶Finishing Basto
Sleep again for your second day:
- If you picked the Melonpear up at night, hand it to the vendor now for your fourth ice cream, which finishes Fruit Shortage. If you already handed in all four fruits on day one, Fruit Shortage is done and your fourth ice cream is already in your bag.
- Sweet Tooth: give the fourth ice cream to the vampire in the cave.
- Night Lights: show the boy your Firefly photo.
- Arthur Hunter: show Arthur all three fossil photos.
- Bitling Collector: the blocky man on the bamboo-area beach wants photos of the Bitling Snail (on a bamboo shoot by the cave entrance), Bitling Frog (on a deckchair by the circus tent, by day), Bitling Tato (kiosk sign) and Bitling Mouse (inside the palace by day, after In Your Face).
Basto's Hidden Balloons has 11 monkey-head balloons:
- On an island off the jet-ski area coast, near a tall tower with a parrot.
- On the tower on the jet-ski area's night island.
- On the island off the camp area coast, by the tent.
- In the gap between the painter's screen and the island left of the vendor.
- On top of the tower behind the vendor. Aim very high from the right of the cart.
- Inside the palace, between two sand castles on the right.
- In the circus tent, next to a stack of three cardboard boxes.
- On an island behind the dinosaur platform, seen from Eggert's spot down the long ladder.
- On the spooky-tree island from Spooky Stories.
- On the bamboo-grove beach, down the smaller ladder on the right.
- On the high platform above the cave entrance on the ghost screen.
Once all 11 are popped, check the Basto card to confirm Basto's Hidden Balloons is stamped. If it isn't, revisit the night-island tower and the hard-to-hit tower behind the vendor first.
Dry Season has 11 pots, and each needs two hits in a row so it stays upright:
- The gardener's own garden.
- A small rock near the garden.
- Beside the arrival kiosk, between the info desk and the gate. This is the one most players miss.
- The camp area, on the right near the bridge.
- The palace dining table.
- Inside the bodybuilder's house beside the palace, behind the crate with the lantern.
- The movie area, next to the ramp up from the projector.
- The circus tent, on a box by the popcorn machine.
- The bamboo grove, on a platform above the parked bicycle.
- The cave, behind the radio near the bamboo-grove exit.
- The ghost screen, in front of the tree beside the Flip-Flops dig spot.
Check that each pot is standing before you leave it, then return to the gardener.
For the Tato King, splash the cracked wall by the glow worms until an X appears, then dig it with the Pickaxe. Itsy Bitsy is in the right corner of the secret room. Splash all four torches to reveal a sliding-tile puzzle. It's randomized, so match the picture of a crowned king painted on the left wall, which you can only see through the camera. Photograph the finished puzzle for the compendium; it may take a few tries to register.
▶And some more
Unlocks when all 20 Basto creatures are saved to the compendium. Most are any time:
- Bat: cave ceiling.
- Beach Snake: on the island opposite Nana's tent. Aim over a hole and wait.
- Beak Bird: on the pier sign at arrival.
- Bitling Snail and Bitling Tato: see Bitling Collector.
- Coco Crab: splash the coconut tree beside the hammock up the ladder on the bamboo screen.
- Tato Coco: splash the coconut tree beside the hammock on the painter's screen.
- Itsy Bitsy and Tato King: the cave's secret room.
- Snout Bug: near the cave exit. Shoot from a distance or it flies off.
- Water Strider: the pool after the arrival area.
Day only: Bitling Frog, Bitling Mouse, Day Lizard (on the tower wall by the dinosaur) and Eggert (a sunny-side-up egg with a face near the movie area's exit bridge).
Night only: Drill Mole (the lowered-water ground near the mermaid), Firefly, Mud Frog (down the night-only ladder in the camp area) and Night Lizard (same wall as the Day Lizard). The Glow Worm on the cave wall behind the book only shows in first person; photograph it at night to be safe.
Check Basto's compendium page for gaps and switch time of day as needed.
▶A Viking's holiday
Unlocks when all 20 Basto quests are stamped. If the card shows 20 of 20 and it hasn't unlocked, lift and re-place a stamp on the Basto card. That restamp fixes it on other platforms and is harmless to try.
▶Final Cleanup
▶Going the Distance
If Going long! hasn't unlocked yet, find a large open screen and keep walking. Most players have it well before now, but expect up to about 30 minutes if you're short. Equipping the Clogs while you walk is harmless insurance against the old requirement.
